It’s a worn out day here in the CatBox.  Dinner with WWWendy last night (see below) was delicious.  In fact, it was so delicious that I ate way too much, way too fast, and was up all night with an upset stomach and got almost no sleep.  I need to spend the day in bed.  Furthermore, it’s a dead news say.  Have a fine weekend.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:11 (average 4:36).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Hi, WWWendy! Mmmmm….Your dinner looks delicious!!! Shame you ate all too fast, hopefully your stomach ache w/go away. Get your rest, take good care, and Nap too! Thanks, Tom for all you do too, & WWWendy too!
BFTP: Love the guy! Excellent song!

*This just in: “Go, look at Mar-A-Lago, see if there’s any people that look like you. I’m talking to you in the audience, the Trump voter who, you know, idolizes the guy. He despises you.” ~ Howard Stern ~

  2. I’m so sorry about the wakefulness. you don’t need that. By all means rest.

My goodness! “Sealioning” has entered the language – specifically, it is now listed in Merriam-Webster – I was there (in an internet sort of way) when it was invented.

Here’s a cartoon from 1968 which (barring exact numbers) is at least as accurate today.

Well, Hallelujah for this! “Pelosi Announces New Rules Package”

Some back story on Josh Hawley

Cartoon – I wonder how many of us would be left if anyone who has an ancestor who came here in 1892 or later were to be “sent back.” I wouldn’t, I’m pretty sure. At Least Trump* wouldn’t either.

Blast – As recently as the 1990’s there were people who like classical music who were snobbish about “film music.” Pooh. Film is just an extension of theater, and major composers have written for the theater literally forever. Some of the finest music of the 20th and 21st century has been written for film – including this.

    • Great cartoon, Joanne – too bad it is still relevant, even if the numbers have changed. I dug up 79.1 years for White and 75.5 years for Black in 2014 (couldn’t find any newer statistics), so though there has been improvement all around, the gap is still there.

    • Hawley’s resumé sounds like the perfect one for the GOP!  POS!
Add the stress of living in the bigoted culture, that new research has found helps to destroy Black health, which had not been noted back in 1968, and it’s worse.

  3. Glad you had a companion for celebration TC–but sorry delicious food gave you challenges.  Thanks for the wonderful Dylan.  He sold his songs collection last year ensuring future access not dependent on heirs.
My direct grandparent lineage were all here before 1892 Joanne.  I agree with the need to see Hawley in full context–thank you.  Also thanks for the rules package that should be welcome to all of us.
Enjoy your catnaps TC–sleep does wonders for so many things that ail us.

  4. Cartoon: Hey, Rethuglicanazis, how many of you have immigrants in your ancestry? Answer: ALL OF YOU!!!!!! Unless you’re 100% Native American/First Nations, and how many Repubs are? How many of your friends are immigrants, or have at least one immigrant in their ancestry going back three generations? How about people you depend on – your doctors, your lawyers, your barbers, your maids, the cops who patrol your neighborhoods, the firefighters ready to rescue you and your families and little dogs too from a blaze or other disaster?

  5. Hey, TC!  At least you had the pleasure of eating such a good dinner!  Too bad it wasn’t so pleasant later! WWWendy has a sweet smile, doesn’t she?  Hope you’re feeling better by now.

  6. Sorry to learn that your New Year’s meal didn’t agree w/ you.

Like you, I, too, love Brussel sprouts!  Unfortunately they’re in the cruciferous family of vegetable (the common ones being broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower).  They have high levels of raffinose (a very complex sugar that’s hard to breakdown, and thus creates a great deal of gas causing flatus) and sulphur (which causes the pungent odor).

But still, they’re very healthy for you!

  7. ‘Toon: Without all the immigrants, and their offspring, the white community here, would probably be a mere shadow of its present self, and the black one would overwhelm it, I believe.  I doubt that the palefaces would like it that way.  Of course, no Trump, either.
Wendy and the meal all look good
Dylan rules!  And I’m glad to read about the future access to his music.

  8. thank you….many excellent comments, so I will just stick to saying….Happy New Year to all…..

  9. I’m so sorry you had to pay for (over) enjoying a delicious meal, TomCat. Brussels Sprouts are hard to digest at any time and shouldn’t reappear on your menu for quite some time.

4:02 To bad that burger isn’t real, TomCat.

    Cartoon: It is, isn’t it?

BFTP: This isn’t Dylan singing but C.C. Cale. Not bad at all, but not an original after all.

  10. Cartoon: Awful to see it hasn’t improved, especially since tRimp stepped into office.
BFTP: Great one. Remember it well by Bob Dylan.
New Years Dinner: Wendy looks great. Nice to see you both got to celebrate it. Too bad the meal didn’t settle too well for you. I have stomach issues when I eat certain veggies, just like Nameless mentioned about gas, etc.
Sure hope you were able to rest today.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat
