It’s a tired day here in the CatBox, and my back is is a lot of pain, so please pardon my brevity.  Tomorrow please expect no more than Personal Update.  It’s a WWWendy day, as she’s coming in the morning.  Oh God, it’s Monday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (average 4:53).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

From NY Times: Another dose of relief is finally on the way for the millions of Americans facing financial distress because of the coronavirus pandemic.

President Trump on Sunday night signed an economic relief package that will provide a round of $600 stimulus payments to most Americans and partly restore the enhanced federal unemployment benefit, offering $300 for at least 10 weeks. The agreement also contains provisions related to student loans, rental assistance and medical bills.

The legislation, which is 5,600 pages long, would provide welcome, albeit temporary, assistance to many. How quickly the money reaches your pocket will depend on several factors, though.

Here’s a closer look at what the legislative package will mean for you. This article will be updated as more details from the measure become available. For more details on how to get assistance, check out our Hub for Help.

I’m glad he signed it. Nevertheless, it’s too little too late. Click through for a detailed analysis.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Stacey Abrams: GOP Senators Have Not Stood Up To Sen. McConnell

It’s not bad enough that both Perdue and Loffler are up to their ears in graft. They are as incompetent as they are crooked.  RESIST!!

Ah… the memories! However, it sure does illustrate the misogyny prevalent in our formative years.  RESIST!!

  1. Cartoon: Didn’t realize it was founded in the 1700’s, now I know. lol TY.
Sorry about your team’s loss. Mine didn’t do well either. Bummer!
NYT: Finally! some relief for those that are hurting, should have done it sooner though.. he didn’t.
MSNBC: Good video, always nice to see Ms. Abrams. McConnell, Perdue and Loffler need to go.
    YT: Good song!
Oh, Tom. I wish the pain would go away for you! Get your rest, and take good care, hope you start feeling better too.

    5. re- dt : “Imho- I agree he’s not actually going to flee. I think he should try, but there are some practical difficulties with that, and trump is likely too arrogant to do so anyway. ~ Sato G. ~
    6. “Just so we’re clear, trump is staying silent on Nashville until he finds out whether the person responsible supports him or not.” ~ Brian Tyler Cohen ~

    • TJI #4 – I actually have some respect for Michael Cohen. As deep as he was enmeshed, he is now sounding like the Lincoln Project = and it is not easy to turn around like that. You don’t hear Roger Stone or Mike Flynn sounding like that. That is not an easy transition to make, and I can respect him for it.
TJI #5 – “too arrogant” – exactly. Sato G, whoever he or she is, has Trump* pegged.
TJI #6 – Of course he is. And he may never find out. Investigators are now saying there’s not much left to ask

  2. We are having weather today (4″ of snowthey are saying) which I guess is why I had more pain than usual yesterday, and why /i overslept so much today. Sorry I’m late. Glad yoour Christmas vas very merry indeed.

Cartoon – A real classic. And mostly very good advice (considering how eccentric Ben was, it might not have been.)

I did see that yesterday. It appears to have been a more respectable game, at least on defense, for both sides than their previous loss, though.

NYT – “Too little, too late.” Yes. Also, “necessasry but insufficient.” When can we do better? It depends on Georgia. That election is now less than one Scaramucci away.

Stacey – And she is both competent, and NOT crooked. Of course, they hate her.

Blast – Well, THAT’s the truth. Som of the songs from that period were so misogynistic they literally made me cry. And still would. Which may explain at least part of why I’m not so much into the, and more into classical music and opera. (Opera can be misogynistic, but the women in it at least get to have their say. LOUDLY.)

  3. ‘Toon: Imagine if “Poor Richard” were here, now!
    Sorry about the Broncos.
NYT: He had some focus on him, and turned the screws on the GOP, and BBMM.  I have read that BBMM is in a tight spot, now.  He has to either turn down the extended $1,400, or anger the hypocrites who believe in less gov’t spending, especially if it does not enrich the already rich.
MSNBC: Of course they have not stood up to the Bitch, he’s still the real king in the gov’t.
BFP: “Oh, he’s just sowing his oats,” they would have sad at the time.

  4. I was out walking, taking in some nature (nice photo of a Kestrel) and a thought occurred to me: Dumpness is planning a rally to coincide with Biden’s inauguration, being the slime that he is, right?  The bastard might just try to set up a government in exile!  That way he gets, in the imagination, delusion, of he and his cult followers, to be president forever.  He could even claim that he can not be indicted, by anyone, because he is still the president. There is nothing he would not try, regardless of the impact on the country, I assure you.  I’m not asleep, but this is a nightmare, nonetheless.

    • I wouldn’t put it past him either, in theory. But if he/it are on US soil, then they aren’t “in exile,” they are still under our jurisdiction, and can still be arrested, regardless what they say. The US has some experience with this, thanks to so-called “sovereign citizens” doing crazy things (and learning they are not as sovereign as they thought.) I agree it could still be very dangerous. But there would be recourse available. It wouldn’t be the “No one can do anything because he’s the President” situation that it has been for four years.

      • Gotcha!  But, he could go to Belize, or wherever and do it, no?  It’s just a thought that popped up in my (not really fevered brain).
        m

        • He could indeed.  (I didn’t mention extradition because I figured you’d think of it, and you didn’t disappoint.)   But all he could do from there is give orders, and anyone here who carried them out, or attempted to, would be chargeable if caught (and as dumb as they are, I think they’d get caught.)

          • Caught would be good, even wonderful!  Their acting on his commands would immediately flag them for the authorities, almost like flies in a spider’s web.m.

  5. I didn’t realize “Poor Richard’s Almanack” goes back that far.  The things you learn here.

(I’ll just note that my perspective on the orb is much different here in KCMO.)

How did Trump throwing a monkey wrench in the Omnibus/COVID bill benefit him?  I think he’s truly gone down the rabbit hole, because that’s how he calculates everything.  It was simply a dumbass move on his part.

That said, I’m glad someone convinced him to sign it.  What a Moron/Moran.

    • Trump, apparently, wanted to bust the chops of the GOP, which did not work hard enough, in his twisted mind, to keep him president. Revenge is one of his major motivating paths.

  6. I’m sorry you seem to have to pay for an enjoyable day such as having Christmas dinner with a very painful back the next day, TomCat.

    3:34 Lovely blue sea.

Cartoon: Almanacs from 1730, something Republicans still live by.

NYT: Trump did it again, withholding his signature until the very last minute, drawing all attention to himself and now signing it with his base believing it is his and that he actually wanted more. Always the hero at others expense…

MSNBC: Stacy Adams is at full force trying to get two Democrats elected for Georgia in the Senate, which not only is important for Georgia but for the whole country, and the presenter starts asking stupid questions about Stacy going for governor in 2022. What a nitwit. Fortunately, Stacy brought the interview back on track to the present election in her state.

BFTP: A bit before my time but I know it well enough.

  7. Cartoon: News to me too, that it’s from 1732.
Religious Agony: Sorry the Broncos lost.
NYT: Glad that he finally did sign the bill. Shameful that tRump has to play these rotten games, especially when it pertains to so many lives.
MSNBC: Appreciate that Stacie is doing so much for the two Democrats in Georgia. I’ll be happy when those to rotten R’s are long gone.
BFTP: Good oldie. Remember the song.
Sorry to hear about your back not doing well. Are you on the higher dose of the pain medication/patch yet?
    Tell Wendy, “Hello” tomorrow.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  8. Thanks and No 26 Hugs to all!
