It’s a painful exhausted day here in the CatBox.  After the hospital screwed me up so badly three weeks ago, they treated me like royalty yesterday to make sure everything went smoothly.  The got me infused and out early.  They increased my Fentanyl patch from 50 mg to 75 mg.  We stopped for take out pizza an the way home.  The notary came, and I got writers cramp with all the signing.  I commented that, if I had any idea how big a pain in the ass it is to die, I would have opted to live instead.  I was up from 5:00 AM until 4:30 PM, and that left me exhausted and in severe pain.  Today I have to do an online shop at Safeway.com as Store to Door is closed for the holidays.  I should be back in the saddle tomorrow.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:16 (average 5:00).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

A Thought from Mitch (ours, not BBMM):

When I was 18, I lived in New York City in my first apartment,  I had this on a poster framed above my bed.  In an “Ah… the memories” moment, Mitch emailed it to me.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

  1. Cartoon: They’d love that…wouldn’t they?
Desiderata: Beautiful words and meaning. TY! Tom and Mitch for this.
PPC: Very Well Done and Sung!
Let the countdown continue,….can’t wait till ZERO!

Sounds like you had a very busy yet productive day all the way around. Glad that you got your patch upped too, and it does you well. Now that you’ve got all your chores done, you can rest and relax!  Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “Trump want to kill as many Americans as possible, because this is what Putin wants. This is biological war and Russia is winning with the help of Trump.” ~ Janice W. ~
    2. “I don’t know how to explain to you that you should care for other people.” ~ Dr. Fauci ~
    3. “Harding, Buchanan, Johnson and Pierce are the only people that are happy about Trump, as they are no longer the worst Presidents in history. ~ Robert M. ~
    4. Trump on not leaving the WH. dt – “Ill have to be dragged out!” Everyone in the US – “What channel can we watch this on?” ~ Anon ~
    5. “2 simple facts to this equation – 1. Trump is a pathetic liar. 2. Trump is not able to make deals. The only part where he can negotiate, is the color of his straitjacket.” ~ Rene M. ~
    6. “A judge in New York has rejected President Trump’s claims of attorney-client privilege that could have shielded documents from the NY Attorney’s office. ~ David Muir ~

    • TJI #1 – I’m not sure Trump* needed Putin’s puppetry to push for spreading. “We want them infected” was in memos from his own staff, and very clear.
TJI #2 – Of course he doesn’t know. It’s so deep in him that it isn’t in words. See my bonus post today.
TJI #3 – Yes, and now, thanks to Nameless, they have proof.

    • TJI’s #1 ad #2 are intimately connected.  Dr. Fauci can not “explain” to Dumpness  that he should care, because caring is not something Trump can relate to.  Joanne is right, it is not Putin (who may be gleeful), but related to the pattern of so-called “Strong men” dictators who kill as many of their own people as they can as things start to come apart for them.
TJI#4: Yeah, what channel and at what time.  His florida neighbors don’t want him there.  So, good, he gets all that special attention as he is dragged out, and taken directly to Riker’s Island to prepare for indictment!
      TJI#6: Be still my heart!!!!!!!!

  2. Yes, no wonder you’re exhausted. At least the hospital showed real remorse by making up for their previous snafu. I like people like that. Sausage and mushroom pizza, was it? I’m sure it helped. I personally like Safeway delivery. We do’t have Store to Door, we have InstaCart, and they make too many substitutions, no matter how hard I work to get NO SUBSTITUTIONS into the order. Last time they substituted cherry lip gloss for cherries. Aaaaargh!

Cartoon – between penal “exceptions” and the prison-industrial complex, they have repealed it de facto.

Desiderata – I remember it floating around with as many incorrect sources as it would have if it were going around today on the internet. I honestly drastically underestimated its quality, simply because, having been brought up by my mother, my reaction (non-verbal then but put into words now as best I can) was, “Doesn’t everybody know this?” Well, no. My mom was one of a kind. Even though she has been dead almost 20 years, I am still learning more about how fortunate I was to have had her.

Other PP Good Don – A real tour de force, getting all that crap in there. I don’t say “getting it straight” because that would be impossible.

  3. Red tape: Now worse than dying!
    ‘Toon: Yes, essentially castrated!
Desiderata: The world works in random and, sometimes, beautiful ways.  Giving credit where credit is due, recalling that we all met on C2, Desiderata was sent to me by Ellen J., once of C2, as well.  Community is so important.
    PPC is great!

  4. Cartoon: if the rotten R’s were running the country, you know they’d want to enforce it  the way they treat people.
Desiderata: Wise words. Ones that reminds us to stop and rethink of the way we feel about ourselves. To stop being negative. To be positive. Thanks Mitch
PPC: Great parody Don. Makes us wish January 20th was that much closer.
Wow…glad that they gave you the Royal treatment yesterday. You certainly deserve it after all of the crap they put you thru last time. Plus happy that they increased your Fentanyl patch. Hopefully it will be a big help with relieving your massive pain.
Hope that you can finally relax, get some rest now.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Your hospital day was long and harrowing, but this time everything went smoothly, including the notary, the pizza and the Fentanyl upgrade. Now take your time to rest, please TomCat, and give the patch time to start working.

3:20 I don’t suppose you have a Christmas tree, TomCat.

Cartoon: The one Republicans hate the most?

Desiderata: “With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.” May we never grow too old to appreciate that and preserve it for future generations.

PP: Perfect in text and execution.

  6. Thanks and Pooped Hurry Hugs to all! 19

  7. Hey, TC!  I hope you’re feeling much better today…having had a lovely and long rest overnight…with pizza dreams and cheese memories in your mouth!

That Desiderata always makes me smile…the one I have claims it was written by Khalil Gibran.  But, it’s wise and, honestly, who cares about the author?  Just go placidly amid the noise and haste, TC!  And remember that you have friends all over the planet!  xoxo
