Not a video – but still –

Celebratory images from the New York Times

Just someone’s personal share of celebration

Happy days are here again/The skies above are clear again/So let’s sing a song of cheer again/Happy days are here again/Altogether shout it now/There’s no one Who can doubt it now/So let’s tell the world about it now/Happy days are here again/Your cares and troubles are gone/There’ll be no more from now on/From now on/Happy days are here again/The skies above are clear again/So, let’s sing a song of cheer again/Happy days Are here again!

  1. Here in Atlanta we had several big celebrations. People danced, cheered, waved flags and signs, tooted their horns like mad. Bars did great business. Does anybody recall a US Presidential election being celebrated so intensely? I wouldn’t be surprised if such joy hasn’t erupted in the US since the end of World War II!

    • i remember feeling elated personally when Obama won … and, although only 17, I felt when Kennedy won hat it was major.  But in neither case do I recall celebratoins like these, no.  I’d compare this to FDR’s first election (which is where the sone “Happy Days Are Here Again” comes from.)

  2. A couple of videos from Daily Kos.

Hanky alert on the first one with Van Jones!

And now for some celebration . . .

And now a quote from Jackie Gleason: How sweet it is!!!

  3. Congratulations!

  4. All of these videos teared me up with happy tears!
    Van Jones especially.
‘Bye Trump’ is the BEST! Well done, all.

    Thanks, Joanne for post.

  5. Great images and videos.
I agree with others they’re heart touching. I was watching Van Jones all week long on CNN.
Wonderful to see so many people come out to celebrate joe and Kamala’s huge win.
Looking forward to January 20, 2021.
    Thanks Joanne

  6. Woo hoo! We did it, what a joyous relief!   The clown puppet golfing again today (Sun.),LOL!  Journalists (Eugene Robinson & Don Lemon, that I saw) are comparing it to when dictators are toppled in 3rd world nations, such spontaneous dancing in the streets. An aunt was in Seattle when Japan’s surrender at end of WWII was announced. She was there w/hubby in Navy & their small daughter.  Throngs in the streets crying, hugging, drinking etc. including Russians who were training there if war continued. Here in GOP land yesterday it was as quiet as if OSU Buckeyes lost. Maybe I’ll do my happy cat dance on the sidewalk this wk.—-notice how our side doesn’t wave guns around?!—–Be safe.

  7. Thanks JD. 35

My comments for all of them are the same.

    Woooo Hoooo!!

  8. Ayanna P.: Brings tears to my eyes!
    “Happy Days….”: Marvelous!
As much as I have always been a Ray Charles fan, he’s never sounded so good as this!  I’m melting!
“BYE DON”: “You won’t go back to Wisconsin?” “Hey buddy, you just became irrelevant there, and everywhere.
Pacronym: There is so damned much to change, this is the start!
“Dawn”: It’s time to play some Beatles music: “HERE COMES THE SUN”
    Olberman: ‘Nuff said!

  9. Love Ayanna Pressley’s post above…all petitions signed….thanks
