It’s a busy day here in the CatBox. This morning, I have a videoconference on Zoom with prison volunteer coworkers and former prisoners with whom I worked, and who are now living productive lives as members of the community. I’m so proud of my guys! You can tell I must love them, because I’m missing part of opening weekend, a high holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb. It feels very strange, because this is the first season I haven’t played fantasy football in this century. At any rate, this is my only article today. I hope to have more tomorrow, depending on how much time I spend with Diana, my home palliative care nurse. Have a fine day.

Cartoon – Well, that was 1948. Many Republicans were still human then. She certainly was held up to me as someone to be admired and emulated and I was in California.

BOPP – As actual leaders of Christianity (and probably other faiths) have been saying since before I was born (and probably a lot longer than that – and are still saying and will always say) – quit thinking about whether you are on God’s side and start thinking on whether you are on God‘s side. Yes, that’s a much harder thing to do, which of course is why so few people do it. (And don’t don’t try to get out of it by saying you are on “the side of the angels.” Not all angels are good.)

I’m old enough to remember Sen. Margaret Chase Smith (R-ME) – back when there were well-meaning, responsible and conscientious Republicans like her, Nelson Rockefeller, Charles Percy, Robert Packwood, etc.
They would neither recognize nor abide today’s Rethuglican party.

And Mark Hatfield.. Yes. I spend my freshman year at Stanford in the same dorm with one of the Percy twins, the one who later married John D. Rockefeller III. Sharon. I forget now which state he was governor of for so ling, but she sent a lot of time promoting the crafts of rural women, wearing them if they were wearable, and opening sales outlets for those crafts. Such a different time!

To make sure there is no confusion, that was not a video meeting with my guys in prison. It was with some of my guys, who have already been released. After almost 20 years of volunteer work, I’ve worked with a bunch.
