Bill Maher from 8/14

It’s that time of week again, so here are three video clips, from Bill’s show last night. Enjoy!

Colin Cowherd on Covid-19 in Sports

Losing football is sufficient reason to vote against criminal Fuhrer Trump*, but if I hated football, there are millions of other reasons!

Andrew Yang and Pete Buttigieg

Of course Mayor Pete agrees that Trump* should not be able to stage a coup by ignoring the election, and even Yang is on board with that. But can anyone get Republican leaders to agree? Fat chance!

New Rule: God Is Cancelled Party

Bill has a valid point on overreacting against making the good the enemy of the perfect. Fortunately for Bill, Jesus will show more compassion for him than he does for Jesus.

I liked it except for his attack that he bases on his atheist religion.

  1. W/watch later this evening…
    Thanks, Tom for Bill.

  2. Cowherd – Hopefully this will be neaningful to fans of sports. Not being one, I really can’t comment.

Yang/Buttigieg – “One vote should do it” – Yeah. Sure. It should. But anyone who thinks it would do it in this election is dreaming. If Bill asks what we need to do, he should be willing to listen to serious answers. I might add if we can’t win in a landslide, we won’t be able to govern. We’ll have enough troible governing if we do win in a landslide.

New Rule – Bill has some good points. But a good point he doesn’t make is that ppeople who are un-learning something tend to over-compensate. People who don’t overcompensate are probably not learning. Living in a time of overcompensation can be annoying, but living in a time of racism is far worse than annoying.

  3. Bill had a good show last night.
Colin: Sad that Covid-19 has taken away the pleasures of sports/fans.
Yang/Buttigieg: Fun watching them. With they]d do more for the November election. Hopefully the people will vote all of the stinking R’s out of office, so tRump won’t have backup. Plus he will be gone too.
New Rule: Interesting points. I like what he said about excepting the past making the future better. We must get rid of the ugly acts of violence/racism.

  4. New Rules: Totally agree!  A person lives in her/his time.  Washington and Jefferson were products of their time.  Should we banish “Gone With the Wind?”  No, it’s a “period piece” and slavery was of that period.
BTW, Confederate pow’s were amazed when they found that Union soldiers prayed to the same God as they did!
I’m sorry, but atheism is not a religion.  The only bit of dogma would be that there is, and never was a God.  There are no rituals, no sorts of anything like sacraments, no hierarchy, or organization, no saints or bodhisattvas; maybe an anthropological type of view that religion was created out of anxiety about death, or about the apparent randomness of the world.

  5. Well done in that third video, Bill! On the one hand, we must never forget the horrors of the past; on the other hand, we should stop bending over backwards to apologize for the sins of our ancestors. What’s done is done. We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it, and we can use these lessons to create a better future. Nobody is descended from only Simon-pure saints.

George Washington owned slaves. His artificial choppers included teeth taken from slaves. Shall we tear down monuments to him, and rename our national capital and one of our states? Shall we redo Mount Rushmore?

  6. Thanks and Hugs to all! 08
