It’s a frustrating day here in the CatBox, because criminal Fuhrer Trump* held his campaign rally for billionaires at his private club, pretending to be a Trump* virus relief executive action on Saturday, and the news analysis has not percolated to YouTube.  There is no relief in his bullshit orders.  It will be my lead article tomorrow, but this is my only article today.  Tomorrow, I may run late, because my palliative care nurse, Diana, is coming to change my Fentanyl patch.  Have a restful Sunday.

US Cases: 5,152,001
US Deaths: 165,093

Short Takes:

From Alternet: Tom Eckerle—a Republican road commissioner for Leelanau County, Michigan—is reportedly resigning after political pressure for repeatedly using the n-word, an anti-Black racist slur, to describe racial justice protestors.

Before a meeting of the road commission started last Tuesday, Eckerle was asked by a commission member why he wasn’t wearing a mask. He responded, “Well this whole thing is because of them (n-words) down in Detroit.”

When Bob Joyce, the commission’s chair, told Eckerle he couldn’t say that, Eckerle said, “I can say anything I want. Black Lives Matter has everything to do with taking the country away from us.”…

…When asked about his comments during a Thursday interview with Interlochen Public Radio, Eckerle said didn’t realize the public found out about his comments and said, “No, I don’t regret calling it an (n-word). A( n-word) is a (n-word) is a (n-word). That’s not a person whatsoever.”

Republicans are not racist, the Pope is not Catholic, Trump* is not an asshole, and bears never, ever shit in the woods!  RESIST!!

From Buzzfeed (Hat-Tip Crooks and Liars): At least two students say they have been suspended at North Paulding High School in Georgia for posting photos of crowded hallways that went viral on Twitter. The photos show students packed into hallways between classes, not appearing to practice social distancing and with few masks visible, amid the coronavirus pandemic. They went viral after being shared by the account @Freeyourmindkid.

One of the teens who posted photos, 15-year-old Hannah Watters, told BuzzFeed News she received a five-day, out-of-school suspension for posting one photo and one video on Twitter.

She posted the above photo with the caption, “Day two at North Paulding High School. It is just as bad. We were stopped because it was jammed. We are close enough to the point where I got pushed multiple go to second block. This is not ok. Not to mention the 10% mask rate.”

Watters said she was pulled into the school’s office around noon on Wednesday and was told she had violated the student code of conduct.

“The policies I broke stated that I used my phone in the hallway without permission, used my phone for social media, and posting pictures of minors without consent,” she said.

Paulding County Schools has not responded to requests for comment on the alleged suspension.

Another student, who did not want their name used, also told BuzzFeed News that they were suspended for posting photos on Twitter.

When the Republican Reich weaponizes Trump* virus to murder children, they punish the children for telling the truth about it.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast of protest): “Trump Is an Asshole” – MUSIC VIDEO – NSFW

Amen! Kudos to left-wing protestors!  RESIST!!

  1. Yes – it’s frustrating when the news doesn’t catch up with the news outlets. Hope today is restful and tomorrow smooth.

Lincoln Project Tweet (not [yet] on YouTube)

    Cartoon – No comment.

Map – Last count, we were losing a human being every 60 seconds.

AlterNet – Yes, I read about him. I’m a little surprised but quite pleased that he resigned – he is so unrepentant.

BuzzFeed – Yes, both were suspended, and both suspensions have been rescinded (and struck from their records). The school had no choice but to rescind after the horrible publicity they got. Hanna took advantage of the free time to appear on national TV and warmed hearts by speaking of the “good trouble, necessary trouble” she was in (and I might add, with the complete support of her other, who obviously did a stellar job of bringing her up.)

    Music – Very accurate.

  2. Cartoon: Not just that….they nauseate me too!
    TVU: Pretty much the same…
Here’s to NZ for 100 days w/o Covid!!

AN: smdh. What a misguided individual. Glad that he resigned, there is no place for hate.
BZ: The two student suspensions have been lifted. Both students should have NOT been suspended in the first place, after all, they were telling the truth. Unreal.
YT: Love it!! and a great song! Excellent!

I hope that you have a restful, and relaxing day, and good thoughts to you for tomorrow. Hope that all goes well for you in the a.m. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Trump for reasons not yet known is a witting tool of Putin and the Russians. His withdrawal of 12,000 troops from Germany puts a fracture in the NATO Defense Structure. He will not acknowledge US intelligence of Russian bounties on US troops. Incredible! ~ 4 Star General Barry R. McCaffrey, Ret. ~
    2. “The only thing dt cares about is getting his way, and right now he isn’t getting his way. That is why he is on this campaign to destroy everything in his way.” ~ Vicki M. ~
    3. “Trump loves press briefings. His calendar was clogged for the day when he decided to announce one. He’s getting worse at them, but he does not see it that way. Just the sound of his voice is what he lives for.”
    ~Judith N. ~
    4. “China denies it is working against Trump’s re-election, claiming he is doing an amazing job of it himself.”

  3. Cartoon: Yep…they seem to do their very best at too.
TVU: We’re up to 32,330 cases and 593 deaths.
AN: What a rotten no good bas*ard. I too am glad he resigned.
BZ: Glad both suspensions have been rescinded. Never should of happened. They were just being honest.
    BOP: Great one. Spot on.
Hope you have a nice Sunday afternoon.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  4. I hope you got some rest after finishing this article, TomCat. Restful Sundays are what you need to get through another Trump-mayhem-filled week. I hope Diana keeps to her schedule now.

3:43 Don’t choke on its lead.

    Cartoon: Or not.

Update: Only one state in the green and a death rate that isn’t slowing in the least.

Alternet: One thing must be said; Tom Eckerle is more consistent than most Trumpians, probably because he’s even stupider than most.

Buzzfeed: While the school probably has the rules Hannah Watters was suspended on in place – most schools have or have pupils lock them away during school – it is all too obvious that she was suspended for publicising this particular content, not for the use of the phone. It’s good to hear that the girls’ suspension was terminated but it is unclear what precautions the school has taken to safeguard their students against infection. I hope we never have to hear that this school has become a new hotspot from which COVID-19 has spread to many.

    BOP: They’ve got that right.

  5. Thanks and tired OGIM Hugs for all! 19
