It’s a relatively lazy day here in the CatBox, as it’s Sunday, but I am back in the saddle today and tomorrow,  before WWWendy comes again on Tuesday.  Friday night the built in A/C unit in the CatBox broke down, and I have to offer kudos to Central City Concern for replacing it by 9 AM Saturday morning.  May all your Republicans be flushed.

Today’s took me 3:59 (average 5:52).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: The head of the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence branch was removed from his position after his office compiled reports about protesters and journalists covering the Trump administration’s response to unrest in Portland, Ore., last month.

Brian Murphy, the acting under secretary for intelligence and analysis, was reassigned to a new position in the department after his office disseminated to the law enforcement community “open-source intelligence reports” containing Twitter posts of journalists, noting they had published leaked unclassified documents, according to an administration official familiar with the matter.

What the Republican Reich isn’t saying is that “reassigned” is a code word for “promoted the Nazi asshole”.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Oregonian Channel): Black Lives Matter protests in Portland: Day 65

This is what criminal Fuhrer Trump* calls “terrorist” riots. After 65 straight days, Oregon still leads the way!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): FAILED AS THE CHIEF

Wonderful, Don! You have perfectly pegged criminal Fuhrer Trump*, may he rot in prison for life.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast of protest): Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son (Official Lyric Video)

The Republican Reich represent only fascist billionaires and corporate criminals. Support left-wing protestors!  RESIST!!

  1. Hope you have a nice, restful day.

Yes, I realize Oregon led the way in mail-in voting. But apparently we led it in ballot tracking. Colorado is not always good at voting blue top to bottom, but this Secretary of State is a Democrat.

Sound and Fury messaging (Thanks, Nameless) – they only have 12 subscribers (at least when I copied this), and this is only the 12th video, and they have been idle for a couple of weeks until now. That’s too bad – and would be worse except they seem to have more attention on Twitter.

    Really American

The Lincoln Project – sadly, with no CC included or enabled. A partial transcript from the site: “They’re working moms. Stay at home moms. They’re black, white, latina, asian, straight, gay moms. Donald Trump thinks they’re the enemy, but they’re not. Moms are saving our nation.” And it ends with “Wait till he sees what they’ll do on November third.”

Speaking of November 3, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC (not the caucus itself, but the PAC) believes they are withing spitting distance of having raised enough money to fully fund the USPS through then. There isn’t a dedicated site for this project (they use Act Blue); they said this in an email, so I can’t really validate it, but I hope they are on to something.

Cartoon – Excellent legislation. Sadly, it is “more honored in the breach than the observance.”

Map – One of our counties appears to have improved, but two others are just as red as the population.

    Oregonian – Yeah. Unfortunately.

Protests – Classic, and beautifully done. We could all learn a lot from the way these – and most – protesters conduct themselves when no one is violating their First Amendment rights.

PP – I liked the social distancing – nice touch (did you also see “Stand with your man” while you were there?)

Past – Heaven knows there are more of us than there are of them. But I get nervous when “wypipo” use this to deny white privilege.

  2. Cartoon: No, of course not!
    TVU: Confirmed: 1289. Active 484. Recoveries: 775. Deaths: 17.
NYT: ‘Reassigned’, means getting a pay raise too… rather than getting fired.
OC: Peaceful and non-violent. I like what Faith said too.
    PPC: Excellent !!!
BFTP: Listen to the CD of CCR all the time. Love this song.
Whew! Glad that you got your AC back on in a timely manner. Hope that you have a relaxing day/evening, take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Someone should let dt know that if there’s no election, on January 20, 2021, Nancy Pelosi constitutionally becomes the President of the United States.” ~ Mark B. ~
    2. “John (Lewis) believed that in all of us, there exists the capacity for great courage and a longing to do what’s right. We are so lucky to have had him show us the way. I offered some thoughts today on his life and how, like him, we can give it all we have.” ~ Barack Obama ~
    3. Dr. Fauci graduated 1st in his class at Cornell Medical school, he has served under 6 Presidents and has received numerous awards and honors. Jim Jordan was assistant wrestling coach who ignored the sexual abuse of his wrestlers. I think I’ll listen to Dr. Fauci.” ~ Shari L. ~ ‘
    4. “If voting didn’t matter, Republicans wouldn’t be trying so hard to stop people from doing it.” ~ Roger M. ~
    5. “Trump golfs while Covid 19 death toll passes 153,000! ~ anon ~

  3. ‘Toon: Trump has to be Hatched!
    TVU: And so it goes.
    NYT: How about that?
Y/T-OC: Just bunch of damned sissy-pants trouble making libruls, obviously up to no good!
PPC: Running the country just like one of his businesses, after how many failures?
CCR: Trump is one unfortunate fortunate son.

  4. Cartoon: No, they never will.
TVU: Sad news for California yesterday, it hit half a million cases.
NYT: Amazes me how these types get promoted.
OC: They have been protesting peacefully all this time I applaud them. Too bad tRump ha to butt in and cause such chaos.
PPC: Great one, Don. tRump has and will continue destroying out country.,,running it to the ground. He has screwed everything he’s ever got involved in/with.
BFTP: Great group. Big fan of CCR.
Glad that the workers from Central City Concern repaired your AC. I know it’s been hot there for you.
We’ve been up to 90 here for the past couple days.
Hope you had a good rest of your Sunday. Don’t you have anyone coming over on Monday to do your patches? Or was that only while Wendy was gone?
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Kudos to Central City Concern indeed, TomCat. They did an absolutely wonderful job by replacing the broken A/C so promptly.

3:47 Is this a new one?

    Cartoon: And indeed they don’t.

    Update: Steady as she goes.

NYT: “…Mr. Murphy telling the intelligence officers to refer to individuals attacking the federal courthouse in Portland as “VIOLENT ANTIFA ANARCHISTS.” Of course he’ll be promoted. In Mafia-terms, Murphy was cooking the books in line with Trump and Republican’s assertions and he did it so well that Schiff and the House Intelligence Committee can no longer trust any information given in the past or in the future by the Department of Homeland Security. That’s saying nicely that the Committee has been cheated and lied to.

Oregonian: It is neither “terrorist” nor “riot” and Oregon leads the way in showing protesters can refuse to be drawn outby Trump’s Brown Shirts Keep it up until November 3, Portland.

BFP: Great CCR song then and now.

  6. Separate from the Hatch Act (which, BTW, Trump is not subject to – but Kellyanne & Ivanka are) – there’s another law in place:

    Endorsements 5 C.F.R. § 2635.702
… employee shall not use or permit the use of his Government position or title or any authority associated with his public office to endorse any product, service or enterprise….

  7. Thanks and busy hugs to all! 23
