It’s a relatively lazy holiday here in the CatBox.  I looked forward to today, because I would have been able to see Portland’s main fireworks display from my window.  Of course, it has been cancelled.  Maybe I’ll see it next year, if I live that long.  Tomorrow, please expect no more than a Personal Update or an Open Thread.  WWWendy is coming so destink the pungent TomCat, change my patch, goop and help with chores.  Also, because we’re running out of time, tomorrow is Infernal Revenue day in the CatBox.  Have a fine weekend!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:15 (average 6:28).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Trump* Virus Update:

0704TrumpVirusMap

US Cases: 2,891,380
US Deaths: 132,112

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Lincoln Project Channel): Gettysburg

This could not be more appropriate for today! We must remember those murdered by criminal Fuhrer Trump’s* racist Republican Reich! God bless those very few Republicans that understand this.  The smart ones have left or will soon leave the party.  RESIST!!

From Raw Story: Yet another senior Donald Trump advisor has tested positive for COVID-19.

“Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of President Trump’s eldest son and a top fund-raising official for the Trump re-election campaign, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday before a Fourth of July event at Mount Rushmore, a person familiar with her condition said,” The New York Times reported shortly before Trump’s speech began.

“Ms. Guilfoyle traveled to South Dakota with Mr. Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr., in anticipation of attending a huge fireworks display where the president was set to speak. They did not travel aboard Air Force One, according to the person familiar with her condition, and she was the only person in the group who tested positive,” the newspaper reported. “Still, that another person who was expected to be near Mr. Trump tested positive — and someone who most staff aides consider a member of the Trump family — is likely to renew attention around potential risks to the president.”

How rabid! She attended criminal Fuhrer Trump’s white supremacy super-spreader campaign show, while infected with Trump* virus and no mask or distancing. How many will die, because she spread her Fuhrer’s plague?  She needs to do one more thing: give her boyfriend’s father* a BIG, sloppy kiss!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from Woodstock): BERT SOMMER – AMERICA – WOODSTOCK 69

The next few songs are dedicated to all who were at Woodstock or wanted to be.  Most of us gave Bert a standing ovation for this song.  Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. Gooid luck with all the chores.

Today is Independence Day. Here’s a link to the Declaration of Independence full text. The section in the middle which is indented two spaces is a list of the policies of King George III which were as intolerable that we needed to break awa from Britain and become a separate nation in order to rid ourselves of them. Read them, ans seeif you think they are a pretty close description of the policies of the Trump* regime.

Of course Beau has the history.

Cartoon – They definitely do that. Sigh.

Map – Heading for three million. Is that one lucky state Vermont or New Hampshire?

Lincoln Project – Great minds indeed. I was actually going to use it on the holiday post, but it works here too.

Raw Story – Maybe she’ll give it to Junior.

    Past – Very appropriate.

    • Thanks for posting, Joanne.

“Benedict Donald”, that just sounds like something that is going to stick with Trump for a very long time.

Beau: It is theirs. It is their land historically, traditionally, morally, ethically and constitutionally. Amen!
Beau thinks the land should be given back and doesn’t know why this is a debate. Neither do I.

      • I think I know why the debate. As John Kenneth Galbraith said, “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” I’m not sure exactly when he said it, but he was born in 1908 (died 2006). By now, they are beyond looking for it. They believe they have found it. And from that viewpoint, giving – or giving back – anything to anyone is immoral.

  2. Cartoon: Good gawd !
TVU: Going up every day, the 4th and fireworks, and close quarters don’t help either. ugh!
LP: Excellent! for the 4th! and every day thereafter. Amen.
RS: What a mess. Not meaning ill will on her or the T family….but…I guess we’ll see who’s next?
    BFTP: Good song.

Sunday HI’s to Wendy! I hope that you can get your taxes done w/o any trouble, and that it’s painless. Have a great day, rest & relax, and take good care. Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Trump is running because he snorts Ex-Lax with his adderall. Which is also why he has ‘sheet’ for brains. ~ John N. ~
    2. “Tweety Adim Jr’s girlfriend just tested positive for the Covid 19 before the trip to Mount Rushmore. It seems that Trump is the Typhoid Mary of the 21st century. ~ Crystal A. ~
    3. “Pence is as callous and demented as trump, only less flamboyant and more pious in his own phony way, but just as cold and cruel. ~ Sharon G. ~
    4. “Fun Fact – Trump has spent more on golf in 3.5 years as 23 American families will make in their entire life times.” ~ Tea P. ~
    5. “I see Trump is out golfing with no mask or bra on today.” ~ Amanda C. ~

  3. Why is tomorrow “Infernal Revenue” day?  The IRS postponed due date until July 15th – including 1st & 2nd quarter Estimated Taxes.

  4. Cartoon: Crazy, isn’t it?
TVU: Yes, it’s climbing and the crowds are at our local beaches. They’ll be closing down more businesses this coming Tuesday. Not good.
    LP: Great video.
RS: Heard about her last night. Guess she’s being kept in isolation and so will Jr. Was kind of hoping that tRump himself would catch a bit of it, to get a feel of how people are suffering.
    BFTP: Great tune.
Hope you have a good afternoon.
Like you mentioned, TomCat, it’s not like it was a year ago. I normally would go outside in my back yard at 9:00 PM to watch the fireworks they do at the park that’s just less than half a mile from my home. But like your area, they’ve been cancelled.
Tell Wendy “Hello” for me. Hope you both get your tasks taken care of.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. thanks…vote blue…equality and equity

  6. I hope your lazy holiday gave you enough energy to do all of the chores you mentioned tomorrow, TomCat.

3:12 You could brake your last tooth on that.

    Cartoon: Yeah, right.

Update: Nowhere left to run to.

RS: What is Trump taking that he doesn’t get infected by those COID-19 cases so close to him? They do a lot of testing, much more than the average American can be expected to be tested. Perhaps everyone near him is instructed to wear a mask indoors when no one is looking… Nah, that would be hypocritical and un-Trumpian, wouldn’t it?

BFTP: I’ve never heard Bert Sommer’s rendition of this before, only Simon and Garfunkel’s, Simon being the songwriter of it. I’m sure all the upcoming songs will be known to me, but the memories connected with them are of a later date than Woodstock.

  7. Thanks and Busy Hugs to all! 26
