It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  A fire alarm made me get up at 1:00 AM, and I could not get back to sleep.  WWWendy is coming soon, so this is my only article today.  JD, would you please publish Sam?  Have a great day!  Joke: Why did God create Republicans?  She wanted to make Satanist cannibals look good!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:57 (average 5:39).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Trump* Virus Update:

0702TrumpVirusMap

US Cases: 2,781,085
US Deaths: 130,813

Short Takes:

From  The New Yorker: Donald J. Trump may not have read a Presidential Daily Brief on the Russian bounty scheme because he holds reading material upside down, experts suggested on Wednesday.

After studying photographic evidence of Trump holding a book in that difficult-to-read position, Davis Logsdon, who studies literacy at the University of Minnesota, said that such a practice could have impeded the President’s ability to process information on his desk.

“If Trump is holding all of his Presidential Daily Briefs upside down, what is intended to be important intelligence requiring his urgent attention might, to him, appear to be little more than meaningless marks on a piece of paper,” Logsdon said.

Dang, Andy! Did he learn that technique from the way Crawford Caligula, aka GW ChickenHawk, read My Pet Goat on 9/11?  RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: President Donald Trump makes very clear his allegiance to the almighty dollar, so it should hardly be shocking that he’s willing to throw Black people under the bus when it comes to his beloved Trump Tower. The president made his position even clearer Wednesday when he vehemently opposed New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s plan to have a Black Lives Matter sign painted on Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower. The building’s namesake called the planned sign a “symbol of hate” and berated the mayor for supporting a plan to reallocate $1 billion of the police department’s $6 billion operating budget—a drop in the bucket for protesters pushing for a wholesale overhaul to policing.

Kudos to Mayor de Blasio! I can’t wait to see the look on criminal Fuhrer Trump’s* face the first time le looks down from his liars lair and sees Black Lives Matter!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the the past): Get Back (Remastered 2009)

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. I was just thinking about Sam and connecting the dots. Haven’t done it yet, but I certainly will.

    Lincoln Project

    Also the Lincoln Project

Beau on a new distraction and the backstory

When I was a girl, my mother (who was a huge detective story fan -Christie, Queen, Gardner, Stout, many others, and, of course Poe) had Poe’s complete works in two rice-paper volumes bound in soft leather, which was then (the 50’s) already crumbling to the touch. I did not read them all, but I did read “The Masque of the Red Death.” Of course that is an allegory to remind readers that everyone is going to die eventually, regardless of what assets, tangible and intangible, they happen to have. But it also a pretty darned good description of people going around maskless, especially into large groups. I doubt whether Poe thought anyone would actually be dumb enough to do that deliberately – yet here we are, with people having CoViD parties. It’s free at Project Gutenberg.

Cartoon – You know I will.

Map – Risk level may be the most valuable thing we could know.

I kind of expected you to air this video; it seems unusual even for these days. Chris Hayes appears to be astonished.

TNY – Excuse me, did you just use the words “learn” and “Donald Trump*” in the same semtence?

DK – The only “hatred” that BLM could possibly, remotely, be a reminder of is the hatred by white people for black people which made BLM necessary on the first place.

Past – This one and “Fixing a Hole” always bring to my mind, along with the Beatles themselves, Peter Frampton’s “Sergeant Pepper” movie – “Fixing a Hole” because it was George Burns, and this one because it was the deus ex machina.

    • The Lincoln Project Rocks, again ,and again!
Beau’s story blows my mind, with the Repthugs actively descending to Trump’s level!

    • Thanks for the LP videos and for Beau’s revelation, which again shows how much Democrats should ignore Trump’s divertive tweets and should be keeping an eye on what goes on behind the scenes. Not having to declare the helping hand of foreign powers is not only a pre-emptive bailout for Trump but for his whole bloody family and all of his cronies. Republicans are now selling America to the highest bidder.

But another stinger was in the Schiff video, which even had Cris Hayes flabbergasted. Republicans boycotting all intelligence briefings without good reason, or any reason actually, perhaps is a way for them to undermine any further investigation of Trump’s treasonous behaviour and/or a way to deny, a la Trump, that they had any briefing and knew/know nothing about it. It’s imperative Democrats insist on further investigation.

  2. Cartoon: Oh…but of course!
TVU: Personally, I think the count is going up…some young ‘uns had a big party by the lake and I believe our #’s will go up significantly. No social distancing, nor wearing masks. (300 were @the party, btw…)
NYer: Yep, pretty much describes him. LOL !
DK: Awesome!!! Yes, Kudos to all involved in making this happen.
    BFTP: Awesome song!

Hi, Wendy! Hope that you have a good day and get a chance to rest and relax. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “Judge Alan D. Scheinkman, Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, Brooklyn, New York, ruled the public has a right to know more about the world’s most powerful man, re: Mary Trump’s tell all book. ~ Charles D. ~
    2. “I’m sure glad that Obama killed Osama bin Laden fefore Trump had a chance to become friends with him.” ~ Travis A. ~
    3. “The only people dismissing the Russian Bounties Intel: The Taliban, the Russians, and Trump.” ~ Aaron B.~
    4. “I am a republican and I am a Trump supporter….but there would be no way he did not know about it if the Russians were paying off these cowards like mafia payoff hit men.” ~ an Army Veteran ~
    5. “Trump knew. He didn’t care.” ~ Bill Kristol ~

  3. TC, nice joke!
Here’s another: What do the Vietnam War and the Covid situation have in common?  Trump ran from each!
    ‘Toon: Damned right I will!
    TVU: Just bubbling along.
New Yorker: Spot-on, your comment, as well.
    DK: Sounds good to me.
    BFTP: Love it/them!

  4. This is a bit off topic, here, today, but it is very moving:
    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/26/opinion/confederate-monuments-racism.html

  5. Cartoon: You bet I will.
TVU: San Diego went up another 584 new cases today, making it 15,207. With 5 more deaths, which is up to 377. So we are on the State Watch list, where if it continues going up the next 3 days, they will be adding more restrictions and closing more businesses.
TNY: Yep that explains his stupid ways alright.
DK: Excellent. Bravo to all involved.
BFTP: Great song. Big Beatles fan.
Hope you had a nice afternoon and that you and Wendy got your chores taken care of.
Sorry that fire alarm woke you up. Hopefully you’ll be able to catch up on your sleep tonight.
    Take care Thanks TomCat

  6. It seems like fire alarms at night are the bane of your life these past years, TomCat. Try to catch up on some sleep.

4:18 Don’t forget to take the shoes off before gooping.

Update: Still going steady and strong.

TNY: I don’t think Trump has to hold his Daily Updates upsidedown to appear to him to be little more than meaningless marks on a piece of paper, Andy.

DK: I don’t think Trump visits his Tower very often these days, so the only reason why he doesn’t want the BLM sign painted in front of it is he thinks it’ll devalue his property and because he can’t force his racist cronies to stay there when visiting his majesty.

BFTP: Great song, refrain should be sung when Trump needs to crawl back under his rock after November 3.

  7. I also love this map of GREEN-YELLOW-ORANGE-RED to detail the virus risk by county

Also been a cartography lover, so I Googled for a bit to find where the map came from.

It’s a map by Harvard that will be updated daily – so very reliable data.

You can pick your state from the menu on the left, and then hover over your county to see the data.

There’s way more detailed info in the Metrics section – but you get the idea.

    https://globalepidemics.org/key-metrics-for-covid-suppression/

  8. Thanks for the dose of AB.  Great minds in same trough, et al:had posted Harvard’s new tool earlier when I visited another post here.  The red on the map county north of me (Colusa) apparently relates to a workplace exposure (agricultural grain operation).
Read yesterday that progressives should be cautious about how much they embrace the Lincoln Project because the only thing they have in common with those folks is a desire for DT not to be re-elected.
Also read yesterday that the City Council in NYC rejected the proposal to reduce the police budget…but Los Angeles approved their reduction proposal.

  9. Thanks, and tired TGIF hugs to all! 24
