It’s a busy day, here in the CatBox.  Store to Door will be delivering groceries, and I have to put them away.  Tomorrow, please expect no more than a Personal Update or an Open Thread.  I have a doctor coming from Providence Medical Group at Home.  What I can publish depends on how long she is here.  How many Republicans does it take to screw in a light bulb?  The answer is ∞.  Republicans want to keep you (and their idiot Sheeple) in the dark.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:09 (average 4:44).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Trump* Virus Update:

0625TrumpVirusMap

Cases: 2,463,923
Deaths: 124,308

Short Takes:

From NY Times: The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Cory T. Wilson of Mississippi to a New Orleans-based circuit court over united Democratic opposition, handing President Trump the 200th federal judicial confirmation of his tenure and achieving a Republican goal of filling every appeals court opening by the end of the year.

In winning Senate approval, Judge Wilson, a conservative state court judge and former Mississippi legislator, became the 53rd federal appeals court judge installed by Mr. Trump and cemented a milestone in a judicial legacy that has reshaped the federal courts during his administration, including putting in place two Supreme Court justices. Republicans lauded the achievement. The vote was 52-48.

This is a sad day for America. There are now 200 more reasons that justice here will be undermined for many decades.  RESIST!!

From Crooks and Liars: Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Union County, Oregon is tied to 236 cases of COVID-19 in the area — in a county with 258 cases.

And of course, the church in eastern Oregon cited Donald Trump’s demand that states allow churches to open as the reason they restarted services, against the law which didn’t allow religious groups to convene in large gatherings.

These Republican pseudo-Christians (the opposite of real authentic Christians) love to infect their neighbors with Trump* virus for their beloved criminal Fuhrer Trump*!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Adam Schiff Channel): Rep. Schiff on CNN: Barr is the Second Most Dangerous Man in America

Since Barrf is the third most dangerous man in the country (You forgot Bought Bitch Midnight Moscow Mitch), impeach him!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Neil Diamond – Sweet Caroline High Quality

Ah… the memories! RESIST!!

  1. I need to order groceries and just haven’t done so. Sigh. Good luck with yours. Don’t overdo. Oh, and good luck tomorrow.

Speaking of “defunding” the police …

The link to the study is here.

Cartoon – Well, sure, if you don’t change any light bulbs ever.

    Map – Discouraging.

NYT – I sound like a broken record (remember those?), but – the courts ARE packed. They need to be UNPACKED. Incidentally I blame McConnell more than Trump* or this. There were so many vacancies because he single-handedly prevented them fro being filled.

C&L – I wish even the smallest part of this were a surprise, but it isn’t. Incidentally, I’ve read about some conversations where some RWNJ has asked a sane person why they are wearing a mask, and the conversation goes downhill from there. My advice has been, and still is, to preemptively respond, “I am exercising my freedom of choice to wear what I want to wear.” Because they always take it to “covid is a hoax and the government is taking away your freedumb” – and you know what trying to give them facts is like. But if you make it about your freedom in the first place, that undercuts most of their “argument.”

CNN – The three most dangerous men in the country are McConnell, Barr, and Trump*. Trump* is the third. The order of the first two is debatable. Here’s a quote from the letter of censure you linked to yesterday: “… bending the criminal justice system to benefit the President’s friends and target those perceived to be his enemies.” I submit:
    – to benefit the President’s friends – common or garden variety corruption.
    – [to] target those perceived to be his enemies – corruption at a whoole nother level.

    Past – Ah, yes.

    • Going to slip this in today.  Hanky alert.

    • Beau: Not one of the twenty monitored cities had the legal requirement to maintain compliance with human rights?! Perhaps the US should start with ratifying the derivative of UN’s Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), but if not the compliance with Universal Human Rights would do.

  2. Cartoon: Yep. SAD.
TVU: We aren’t surging w/covid. Yet. I hope others are staying home too.
NYT: Yes, it is a very sad day. What a bummer!!
C&L: Good grief! This is alarming, just like here in Houston, Tx. Not good.
YT: Sickening behavior. Impeach BB!! He is a sycophant for dt. ugh!!!
    BFTP: Great song!!

Hope that your appointment/visit with your doctor goes well for you. Hope that you have a relaxing day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Donald Trump doesn’t want to run a country. He wants to run a campaign. Yes. A campaign which is all about Trump.” ~ John P. ~
    2. “Texas has recorded 5000 new cases of covid. Houston could become the worst affected city in the U.S. ~ TT~
    3. “Real Americans don’t wave the Confederate or Nazi Flag. We literally fought two World Wars over this. You are 0-2.” ~ Nancy E. ~
    4. Re: “DT & Treason – Throw in Helsinki and undisclosed conversations with Putin and Russian agents. TRE45ON.” ~ John M. ~
    5. “While dt was eliminating the Pandemic Response Team, Republicans let him. While dt was lying about the risks of covid 19, Republicans supported him. While Trump continued to target ObamaCare during the pandemic, Republicans helped him. Trump didn’t kill Americans by himself. Republicans killed Americans. ~ R s T. ~

  3. ‘Toon: Ugly, just ugly.
TVU: Not looking good, for the country, nor for Trump, who seems to have moved on, giving not a damn.  We have been told, this morning, that there is a chance that we’ve been exposed to Covid-19, by way of a friend, whose extended family was.  Tests on them should come back tomorrow.
    NYT: McConnell’s wet dream! Bastard!
C&L: Our Covid-19 concern is also related to church attendance, as our friend’s extended family is made up of Holy Rollers, and the father of that group attended a service presented by a pastor known to have tested +.
CNN: Barr needs impeachment, but I’m afraid that going there now will only energize the Trump supporters, will give him exactly the “Cause Celebré” for stoking them up.
    Sweet Caroline is sweet!

  4. I hope the doctor shows up this time and that you have a productive talk with her.  Take it easy with the shopping and with your talk; your health needs to come first.

2:45 Looks like a North Italian town hit by the coronavirus.

Cartoon: Yeah, we almost forgot about that with the virus and BLM and all.

Update: That looks dire, and the US is still in its first wave as you never got it under control.

NYT: Nothing for it but media to be on top of every one of these judges and call out and shame them on every bad call they make. Make their life as a judge as miserable as they make the people before them and their only way out is to retire from the bench.

C&L: The Pentecostal will undoubtedly gather again as soon as possible, and they’re welcome to it if they put themselves into quarantine with their families. But they won’t and they’ll infect dozens and the hundreds of innocent people, both those that stayed away from the mass gathering and those not of their faith. So if they do not quarantine themselves as do those they have been in contact with, the local council, or perhaps even the government should order them to isolate and keep them under watch. The bill of their surveillance should be sent to the Pentecostal Church authorities.

CNN: I’m sorry, Mr Schiff, the days America was the strongest democracy on earth are long behind you. It started when Republicans made it impossible for Obama to do anything by changing the rules as they saw fit. But you’re spot on when you say that Mr Barrf’s testimony isn’t worth much – he hasn’t shown to have any problems with lying if he shows up at all that is – but the testimonies of others are. The main question remains, however. Will these hearings be enough to stop Barrf and his master in their tracks?

BFTP: Neill Diamond’s songs never held any memories for me until my first boyfriend gave me an album of his for my 15th birthday.

  5. CA is now at its highest levels of new cases and hospitalizations–mostly in Southern CA and not from nursing homes, where more testing is happening and the cases holding steady nonetheless although more facilities with health care workers testing positive with reopening.  Some of the higher nursing home numbers are in areas with sizable numbers linked to meat/poultry packing plants. Some days have added more than 1000 minors.
Biggest contributors to Sacramento area cases were Pentacostal churches (and one that fought the legal action to close and thankfully lost repeatedly in court–thankfully related law enforcement enforced the law unlike threats and actions elsewhere which may have contributed to the death threats leading to health officer resignations). Thankfully social justice Christian leaders joined together and made a statement the media covered about churches staying closed conformed to Jesus’s commands of loving one’s neighbor, especially the most vulnerable, by not having members risk their health.
My county continues to increase 20% or more week to week–and now Tahoe area (where they permitted 2nd residence folks to come) is more than half the county total and will hit 100 by itself any day.  Zero evidence county intends to change opening elements in response to the data.  Thankfully the governor is requiring masks and I have seen changed behavior on my rare trips out.
CDC did first briefing since March to add more conditions to the list of higher risk–like organ transplants, kidney disease and being pregnant.  Also nuanced risk differences between Type I and Type II diabetes.
I may have been exposed in early Feb. before testing was available (yes, a church event).  Waiting for my health care HMO to view an antibody test as reliable, and now wondering whether that will happen before the reduction in antibodies over time current research suggests is what happens makes there be too few to detect).
I switched to Schwans for most of my groceries (all frozen foods and options that call for prep and others ready to heat–good variety of fruits and vegies)–they are nationwide and expanding to more areas.  Deliveries have bags loaded by driver when he arrives within a scheduled couple of hours time range (and changes can be made at that time even).  Got the suggestion from a MN relative (the company is based in MN).
On judges, especially given how young so many have been, I hang what hope their is on congressional leaders looking to strengthen ethics requirements (homework already getting done) and the more frequent investigations and sanctions on existing judges I see in the media.
Pleased to hear Nadler’s initial position of Barr impeachment useless…looking forward to hearing how Barr’s promised testimony turns out (might the House even use their arrest authority that day?).
Hope doctor’s visit makes something easier or better for you.

  6. Thanks and TGIF Hurry Hugs to all! 26
