It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  Store to Door will be delivering groceries, and I need to unpack and put them away.  May your goop be better than mine.

Trump* Virus Update:

Cases: 2,235,678
Deaths: 119,955
Recovered: 918,796

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: White House staffers are seething with envy after Dr. Anthony Fauci revealed that he has not spoken to Donald J. Trump in two weeks, envious staffers have confirmed.

News of the break in communication between the two men sent shockwaves through the White House, with scores of staffers demanding to know whether Fauci had a secret trick that they could employ to similar effect.

“Two freaking weeks?” Jared Kushner was overheard muttering. “I’d settle for one hour.”

Fauci said that there was no secret to getting Trump to stop talking to him, but suggested, “Generally speaking, if you pepper your sentences with facts, that’s usually enough to do it.”

Dang Andy! I spout facts as often as Republicans spout lies, but it doesn’t mute criminal Fuhrer Trump* on my TV. I’m mad at Fauci! How does he rate?  This just isn’t fair!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Joe Biden blasts Trump’s Covid response

That is the thinking, heart, and voice of a President. Isn’t it time to flush our traitor Resident, criminal Fuhrer Trump*?  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby (From “Yellow Submarine”)

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. ‘Toon: One wonderful day!
TVU: Well past 2,000,000 now.  “The Conversation” has published an article explaining that rural, and similar areas of the country are at greatest risk for Covid’s expansion.
New Yorker: TC, I can appreciate your frustration!  Reportedly, people on the WH staff are themselves very frustrated with how Dumpy can not listen, or learn.
CNN: Trump is “…not only absurd,” he “is tragic.”
    BFTP: A bittersweet, lovely classic!

  2. Cartoon: A momentous day!!
TVU: 96,335 Texans tested positive for the coronavirus as of June 17 — 2,062 Texans have died as of June 17 — 33 more than the day before and 177 more than a week ago. My county hasn’t changed…but, geesh, look at those numbers!
NYer: LOL !! If only there was a way to ‘mute’ dt’s mouth, so that one could relax, if only for a minute..hour…day…from all of his lies..and muddled comments. . .
CNN: Boy, that flush would sound wonderful ! Joe shows leadership, empathy, and compassion. Plus! He speaks the truth.
BFTP: Great song. Love the tune.

Hope that you get your groceries put away. Take good, good care, rest & relax, and enjoy your afternoon/evening. Thanks, Tom.

This just in: Speaker Pelosi to McConnell – “You call yourself the ‘Grim Reaper’. How aptly named you are, when you see how many people have died.”
    2. “Trump wants Biden on the campaign trail so that he can hold his rallies in the middle of a pandemic with less criticism.” ~ Jason E. ~
    3. re: The Lincoln Project – “I hope they add the part about dt approving of China’s concentration camps for a persecuted religious minority, which is shocking just by itself. Maybe Lincoln Project can get an ad out on it’s own, because it goes against everything America stands for.” ~ Ellie M. ~
    4. re: covid in Texas: Gov. Abbott does not go by what the leading health officials are saying about covid. He will go by what his leader says. *pb
    5. “Sometimes, I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.” ~ Calvin & Hobbs ~ (legendary comic creator Bill Watterson).

  3. I hope your order is complete this week. Sadly the supply chains are still disrupted.

    Robert Reich – America exposed

    Lincoln Project

Cartoon – I believe that’s the one we DID sign.

Map – That makes it look as though there are some more-or-less safe places .. which I doubt.

TNY – Yes, I can see where that might spark some envy. Generous of him to share his technique.

Joe – Facts alone are not truth. But, without facts, truth will never be achieved. And we need more, a lot more, of both. Not just regarding the pandemic, but regarding everything.

Past – A sad song. Beautiful and profound, but sad.

  4. Cartoon: A major accomplishment we shall remember.
TVU: Yes still climbing. Will probably be past 10,000 cases today. The governor here in California has called for all people to wear face covering, making it mandatory. Too bad the flipping leader doesn’t follow the rules.
TNY: Doesn’t surprise me one flipping bit. Interesting how so many people who use to deal with tRump has nothing to do with him now. I personally don’t blame them one bit.
CNN: Joe speaks from the heart, something tRump doesn’t seem to have. Really shameful tRump doesn’t give a crap about our health and safety.
BFTP: Yes a sad but meaningful song by the Beatles.
Hope you have a great day. That your groceries were delivered on time.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  5. Well, I FINALLY got my dental crown placed.

I had my first appointment early Monday morning to get my CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) crown ($1.4+k).  They promise it will take just two hours to get the crown – from sitting in the chair to leaving the office.

Almost FIVE hours later I finally get to leave after getting a temporary and waiting around because the software for the CAD/CAM (Computer Assisted Design & Computer Assisted Manufacturing) that CEREC uses crashed “but it should be up shortly”.  Since “shortly” never happened, I got an appointment for tomorrow because “we’re sure the software will be fixed this afternoon sometime”.

So I show up Tuesday – “Sorry – they’re still working on the software.”  I wanted to point out that a PHONE CALL informing a patient of that would have been a reasonable expectation.  But I bit my tongue.  So I leave with my appointment for Wednesday.

Having learned my lesson, I called the office and was told “Yes, the CEREC software got fixed.”  “YIPPEE” right?  WRONG!  The CEREC software did get fixed … but at their SATELLITE office!

Now why you would have the tech go to the satellite office before the main one, I have NO idea.

I was given the option of waiting a couple hours why they transfer my CAD/CAM data to the satellite office, and then wait for that CEREC to create it, then wait to have someone drive over to pick it up and come back, and then wait to have it placed as a “work-in” patient (Trust me – you do NOT want to be a “work-in” patient) and then …

You get the idea.  So I waited until today, called to check that it truly WAS ready at the main office.  And I finally got my new crown!

    *sigh*

The good news is that the crown feels fine.  We’ll see how it goes.

As I always remind myself in frustrating, time-consuming, aggravating situations like this:

“If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me in my life, I’ll be DAMN lucky!”

    • PCs, the Internet, computer software, have been great equalizers.  Anyone who works with any of the always has to be aware  of the need to get it yp.  This is not just for men anymore.

      • “… the need to get it yp

You’re going to have to get me up to speed WRT what “yp” means.

WRT: “This is not just for men anymore”

Both my dentist and dental hygienist are women.  So any further elucidation would be appreciated.

Looking at it fresh on Friday, I bet the “yp” is a typo for up. Which then explains the last … hmmm – salty sentence.

        • Sheesh – I have been making so many typos lately.  You are correct in your interpretation.  (Can I defend myself by saying that typos are positively in my blood?)

    • Dang!  What a pain in the tooth!  Ass too! 13

  6. Take it easy, TomCat, don’t overdo things and take long naps in between.

3:03 We haven’t seen that tulip for a long time.

Cartoon: It was called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and voted for by the US, but it took until June 1992 for the US to sign the Human Rights Covenant, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which establishes universal standards for the protection of basic civil and political liberties, and one of three documents that comprise the “International Bill of Rights.”

Update: Still going strong, I see.

TNY: I didn’t know that Trump has bailed out on Fauci and therefore has left any scientific influence far behind him. So instead of firing him, Trump just ignores Fauci. That’s new.

CNN: A speech that is coherent, goes from A to B without strange sidesteps or getting off the path altogether, shows it’s speakers empathy for others and understanding of the subject he’s talking about…we’d almost forgotten that was possible. Thanks, Joe.

BFTP: They produced some great songs, didn’t they, even when they are unhappy?

  7. Thanks, TGIF Hugs, and Amen to all! 28
