Trump*/GOP Losing Ground

The more time goes on, the better things look for Democrats in November, as criminal Fuhrer Trump* could not be doing more to sabotage himself and the Republican Reich, it he tried.  Nevertheless, we cannot use this as an excuse for complacency.

0605Polls

…Start here: Trump got 306 electoral votes in his 2016 win. Now, consider these 2020 scenarios (all calculations made via 270towin.com):

* If Trump loses Texas (and wins everywhere else he won in 2016), he loses to Biden, 270 electoral votes to 268 electoral votes.

* If Trump loses Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin (and wins everywhere else he won in 2016), he loses to Biden 278 to 260.

* If Trump loses Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania (and wins everywhere else he won in 2016), he loses to Biden 279 to 259.

* If Trump loses Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin (and wins everywhere else he won in 2016), he loses to Biden 276 to 262.

* If Trump loses Arizona, Ohio and Wisconsin (and wins everywhere else he won in 2016), he loses to Biden 271 to 267.

The point here is not to say any of these electoral map scenarios are locked in. After all, we are still 152 days away from the November 3 election. (And, yes, I counted.)

Rather, they are to note that Biden, as of right now, has a WHOLE lot of different paths to 270 electoral votes, while Trump has a dwindling number. And of course, the polls on released on Wednesday don’t even deal with potential trouble spots for Trump in Florida, North Carolina and Georgia — all of which he won in 2016…  [emphasis added]

Trump* is beginning to panic.

New Polls Put Trump In A Perilous Political Position

Trump calls campaign meeting as poll numbers fall

The Senate is slipping from Republicans

In this Republican den of horrors, we all need some good news to give us hope and keep us sane, but remember this.  If you aren’t saying everything you can, you aren’t saying enough.  If you aren’t working as much as you can, you aren’t working enough.  If you aren’t helping all you can, you aren’t helping enough.  If you aren’t giving all you can, you aren’t giving enough.  If you aren’t doing all you can, you aren’t doing enough.

  1. New Polls: Believe you me, hoping and praying!! bigtime! for a WIN for us.  BLUE wave comin’ through!

I know Austin, and some of the surrounding counties, are banking on Blue come voting time. I hope that it stays that way. dt is not a leader, nor presidential, to say the least. He’s a mean man and a liar. imho.
He can’t handle the truth..!! CoronaVirus, unemployment, and the protests going on. Not one iota of empathy or sympathy re: Mr. Floyd’s death, or anyone else’s for that sad matter.
Good words of advice, and w/be passing this on to others.
    Thanks, Tom.

  2. What gives me hope in Iowa is that the election Steve King lost was a primary.  That means the largest chunk of voting Republicans rejected him.  And, as important as committee assignments are IL, I doubt that most voters vote along those lines.  Right now, a newcomer to that seat (from either party) is going to have no more assignments than Steve does.  (If we had better educated voters, committee assignments might be more of an influence for ordinary voters.  Although that could also cut both ways.)

  3. In Arizona, no less?????
The Democrats will need to intensify their messaging, with the help of I think it’s now 2 Republican organizations.
Campaign Meeting: “So, how can we F*** the country this time out?”
The Point: Did Newt, or Karl Rove, write Collins’ speech?  Hopefully, by now, the people of Maine know a piece of shit when they see it.
I’m with Joanne, taking some hope from King’s defeat.

  4. Crazy to see that the chart shows Iowa still standing behind the stinking leader. I appreciate Joanne reminding us about Steven King’s loss. Hopefully it’s a change where others voters will go blue too.
tRump shows no respect to the states who are following the Covid-19 rules, with him throwing a tantrum and threatening the Mayor about not allowing him to do his rally in North Carolina. He shows no respect for the people’s health.
I’m hoping with all of the chaos that tRump has been creating, people will finally wise up and turn away from him.
tRump has done nothing for our country than to turn it upside down, causing everyone to suffer one way or another. It must be stopped now.
    Vote BLUE.

  5. Let us all hope so – and if you are so inclined, pray. The USA cannot withstand another four years of tRump’s train-wreck incompetence that I will NOT dignify with the term “leadership.” He is no leader – he is a spoiled man-child, a fat pickle-brained orc, a nincompoop who couldn’t organize a beer bash in a brewpub. The one thing 2020 could do to make up for all the hell it has dumped on us is for tRump to get his orange arse kicked out of the White House.

  6. Very interesting …

BUT, in all honesty, I really try to avoid Polls because they “Done Me Wrong” four years ago.

I appreciate the work that goes into crafting them … and the work that goes into reporting them … and the work that goes into analyzing them …

I just don’t want to jinx what I’m pretty sure will be a …

Nope – not going to jinx it!

  7. I hope people will remember how bad a leader Trump is in November but with the memories of voters being notoriously short it may be necessary for protesters to get back on the streets to have Trump do what he does best and get Biden elected to the White House. Because it isn’t Joe Biden who’s doing the leading by doing so well but by making no mistakes while Trump is digging his own grave.

  8. I haven’t seen polls share how they have coped with the dual phone practices (solely cell and still use landlines) for valid sampling…so I trust less like Nameless…I take hope from things like how many incumbant GOP legislators in NM lost their primaries and how many progressive DEMs beat moderates/corporate DEMs (which included former outed CIA Valerie Plame’s defeat (she also suffered, perhaps, from anti-Semitic remarks)…and Portland electing the progressive DA… and, of course, King’s defeat…Also, the voting rights court victories like in VA and TX for expanded vote by mail…

  9. Thanks all.  I don’t TRUST the polls at all, so I said HOPE. 15

  10. The only ground that I hope Trump and is Republicans win is the ground 6 feet under! . . . or the unemployment line providing that does not affect decent, everyday Americans.

  11. Still stunned, but not surprised that this isn’t looking like a Reagan-Mondale kind of election…sad memories of that day….although also not surprised…..

I don’t use the word hate often, and would never “hate” “our country” (although willing to admit its many imperfections and the disappointment we’ve never lived up to our founding that all men (and women) are truly created equal………however, I am starting to almost “hate” the millions of persons willing to allow this worst ever so-called minority voter elected president who works only for a few of his supporters and not all US citizens, who works harder to divide our country, who threatens and belittles others, who encourages violence and racism, who works to destroy rather than protect the earth’s health, who supports dictators and tries to emulate them, etc…..
Peace, Justice, Equality, Equity, Hope, future health of our planet….not going to happen under this one….
