It’s a difficult day here in the CatBox.  I get topo impatient to spend 90 – 120 minutes eating a meal, and I eat too much too fast.  As a result, it took me 210 minutes to eat breakfast, half of it ended up in the sink, and I have severe heartburn.  On the plus side, I enjoyed my time with my friend yesterday.  For news on my cancer, see yesterday’s Open thread, if you missed it.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:24 (average 4:31).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Cartoon:

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Irate passengers who have been stranded onboard the Grand Princess cruise ship are demanding to be housed at Mar-a-Lago, the passengers confirmed on Monday.

Frustrated by the Trump Administration’s delay in devising a plan to enable them to disembark, the nearly three thousand coronavirus-exposed passengers said that it was “only fair” that Trump welcome them to his Palm Beach home.

“Donald Trump keeps on saying that he’s not worried about coronavirus,” the passengers’ spokesman said. “Then he shouldn’t object to three thousand of us living with him.”

Andy, I’ll agree under two conditions. First, only people who have tested positive should go. Second, if Trump* is not there, they should be taken to wherever he is.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: Will Donald Trump Get Reelected?

Sadly, the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. There’s nothing too dishonest, despicable, or deplorable for the Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, and their Russian allies, to do to keep their criminal Fuhrer Trump* in power.  We must unite behind whoever wins the Democratic nomination and flush the Fascist Republican Reich to oblivion!  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Ode to Billie Joe – Bobbie Gentry (BBC Live 1968)

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

Vote Blue!!

  1. 5:53 Patience is a virtue.

Sounds like “Mor haste, less speed.” Or “festina lente.” Or any of a number of other, similar sayings that probably make you want to spit. I am sorry.

Cartoon – A very tall dawg, for choice, I would think.

TNY – He’s almost certain to pick it up at one of his rallies, I would think. But, yes, those people need some consideration.

RR – Of course he is right. I must, however, point out that that 88% of Republicans who still approve of him? They approve of him OVER their approval of the Republican party. Yes, if Trump and the party split, they would leave the party and go with Trump. Seriously. BTW, regarding voter suppression, in Kansas City, the MAYOR was turned away from his polling place. Srsly.

Past – Yes. That one is unforgettable.

  2. Cartoon: Yes! Get the large breeds, Great Danes, GS’s…Wolfhounds, St. Bernards, and give them lots of water beforehand. lol
NYer: I’ll take $200 for your answer, and the WIN !! Get them buses ready!
RR: THIS is my worse fear, I think about this all the time…such scary times! Send him (dt) packing!
    BFTP: Ahhh…..what a great song!

I forgot to mention about your meeting your friend yesterday.  I am so glad that you had a good time. I do hope that ‘things’ get better for you and with you eating. Maybe you can make a milkshake? jw. Or maybe now and then? I hope that you have a good day, take extra good care (always), get some rest, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: re: dt – “You are failing, the market is crashing. There are still kids in cages. You’re trying to gaslight a pandemic. Obama is beloved, and you are a planetary punchline.” ~ John Pavlovitz ~
    2. *There actually WAS a dumpster fire outside the WH yesterday! lol – pb –
    3. “Whoever writes dt’s tweets needs to spell a few words wrong so we would think it’s from him.”~ Danny H. ~
    4. “The weird part of this … is that dt’s grandfather Frederick died of the 1918 Spanish Flu. dt claims that he had no idea that people die from the flu. wth?? Surely…someone told him, right?” *pb

  3. If only tRump and his stooges were all fire hydrants, and the 99% they have screwed were dogs with hyperactive bladders!

  4. I noted that Robert Reich’s YouTube video is dated today.

While there’s still a real chance of his reelection, I hope that his utter mismanagement of the COVID-19 crisis will wake Americans up & take its toll on *Rump.

Excellent Op-Ed in the NY Times:

Pres. Trump Is Unfit for This Crisis. PERIOD.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/09/opinion/trump-corona-cdc.html

    Key paragraph from the article:

That news conference was, to me, the most frightening moment of the Trump presidency. His preening narcissism, his compulsive lying, his vindictiveness, his terror of germs and his terrifying inability to grasp basic science — all of it eclipsed his primary responsibilities to us as Americans, which was to provide urgent care, namely in the form of leadership.

    • Nice of the NY Times to finally say publicly what everyone with two brain cells to rub together has always known.  Especially after they worked so hard to assassinate Hillary.

      • “Especially after they worked so hard to assassinate Hillary.”

That they did – along with Andrea “Drip-Drip-Drip” Greenspan (née Mitchell).

And I have NO idea why.  Surely they knew what an absolute DISASTER *Rump would be.

        Sad … just sad!

  5. I understand your frustration, TomCat. Good days and bad days; I’m hoping you’ll have more good than bad.

    3:03 Skiing never attracted me.

Cartoon: Place his head a little lower, please, to get full coverage.

TNY: You’re really rubbing it in, aren’t you, Andy.

RR: The really sad thing is that all Robert Reich brings to the screen is already known and should already be known by all those who oppose Trump. Yet he needs to repeat his messages over and over again because the possibility that Trump could be reelected has dawned on everyone yet. His handling of COVID-19 could bring change, but it could also have Republicans use it to prevent even more people from registering and voting if the outbreak isn’t controlled soon.

BFTP: I certainly remember that one, even though I couldn’t understand the lyrics for a long, long time.

  6. ‘Toon: Is that what he called the Russian hookers?
Andy: Hey, sounds like good logic to me!
RRC: Unite and vote the hell out of the damned machines!
    BFTP: Loaded with sorrow.

  7. Cartoon: Wish I had a Great Dane to take advantage of it.
NY: I agree with Andy’s suggestion. tRump feels he can take care of them?…well let him have it.
RR: What he speaks is so true. Knowing all of the illegal moves and actions from his buddies, especially pUtin worries me too.
    BFTP: Good one.
Glad you had a nice time with your friend yesterday.
Sorry to hear that you are having so much problem eating your meals. Wish they could give you something for you to take before your meals, to help, so you could eat and keep it down.
I had my first post surgery visit with the oncologist. She mentioned the biopsy did show cancer and  pre cancerous spots. She feels she removed it all. The stitching separated some, so I had to buy Saline solution and gauge to apply numerous times a day. Plus continue using the Estrogen cream. I go back on March 17th.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  8. Take care TomCat and you Colleen.x♥️

  9. You might consider several small meals through the day.  Graze!

  10. Think about a feeding tube, my wife had a stroke and maintained on a peg tube.

    • Welcome Chainsaw, and thanks. 19

For assorted health over the years, I had to give up smoking, dringind, and sex.  Food is the only physical pleasure I have left, and I’m NOT giving it up. Thank you.

      Stop by often!!

      • You remind me of something my mother used to say (BTW it is a compliment to be comapred to her.)  She was a smoker, never a heavy one, and when I managed to quit she just didn’t any more unless she was out of the house and with another smoker (I guess she was a true social smoker.)  But when the alarms began to sound (IIRC before I even startedm let alone quit) her resonse was “I don’t see why I should give up living just vbecause I might die.”

        • She had a good point.  When you consider all the pain in the ass stuff I’ve gone through over the years, it’s ironic that the CAT Scan with contrast missed the liver cancer and that spread into four different flavors. 13

  11. Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all! 🐪
