It’s that time of week again, so here are three video clips, from Bill’s show last night, two of which I liked. Enjoy!
Monologue: Panic! At The Costco
Trump* virus, the best name for COVID-19, is too dangerous to visit Disneyland. Donald Trump*, MD… Does MD stand for maniac dingbat? Bernie’s young voters, that didn’t show up, should be ashamed, as should Democratic voters of any age for any candidate that don’t show up!
Brian, an excellent actor. He also played the part of Hannibal Lector. That should qualify him for the lead in a Trump* biopic. I agree with him on Scottish secession, because the Brexit Bridiots, England’s version of Republicans, have ruined England. I’m sot surprised he’s a social democrat. Kudos. His observation that Bernie and Jeremy Corbin have good policies that they lack the charisma to sell is most interesting. However, Bernie has more than Jeremy.
New Rule: Take the Money and Run
I could not disagree more that Democrats should take the money from $billionaires and run. That money has a steep price. We need of appoint Supreme Court Justices who will follow the Constitution, and fix campaign finance law to outlaw cheating by $billionaires! Corporations are NOT people! Money is NOT speech!
Except for Bill’s corporatist thinking in the New Rule, it was a great show!

Brian Cox – I doubt that the UK produces more natural born actors than the US – but what they do have is career tracks which allow people to develop acting skills than whatever skills it takes to be a celebrity. It’s a miracle we do have even a few great actors. (OT, but I actually like a Scottish burr. For sairtain.) Bernie has charisma to me because I have known him for a while, and outside of a merely political context. If all I had seen was his campaign performances in 2015-16 and 2019-20, I’m not sure I would be able to see it. (And before anyone can throw out the gauntlet, “Why do we want a candidate with charisma?” the answer is, “Because we want votes, or else we will lose.”)
New Rules – I can see taking money from bad people as individual donors – because, for one thing, it’s impossible to every individual owner/ But money in the volumes that anonymous groups donate cmes with strings. Well, I see his audience is in favor of complete public financing of campaigns (or I guess I should say “I hear.”) I don’t know whether Bloomberg’s money is better given to candidates, or used for those great anti-Trump commercials that his team is so good at.
Have you heard about the toilet paper shortages? For some bizarre reason, people are stocking up on potty paper as if it won’t be available again for six months. Almost as soon as COVID-19 appeared in Washington State, there was a run on butt-wipe in Seattle. What’s the deal?
I appreciate the Democrats’ (professed) purity, but y’all gotta live in the real world. Sadly, politics is a dirty game, and you can’t mud-wrestle without getting dirty.
Some theories –
1.Toilet paper is a product which people use to clean things, including but not limited to body parts. Having toilet paper gives you a sense of control.
2. If necessary, toilet paper can be used instead of facial tissue If you expect to be coughing and sneezing but may run out of facial tissue you may want to stock up toilet paper.
3. Toilet paper doesn’t spoil, and, even if you stock up ridiculously, you are almost certainly going to use it before you die. It’s not going to get thrown out unused.
I was down to my last two rolls of TP, so when I was shopping at Costco on Friday I included a swing to the back of the store where paper products are located – and I had to walk over a pallet to get one of the dozen or so mega-size (like everything at Costco) packages.
And there were pallets of bottled water literally up and down almost every aisle – NOT just in there usual location!
Bill #1: Can someone shine roll of TP down Dr. Dumpy’s throat?
Bill #2: Corbin abd Bernie- For Bernie to sell his policies, he will have to go to Liz’ concept, and have a real plan about how to pay for them, and be able to sell it. Then there is the issue of down-ballot elections. If Bernie can pull off a victory but not take the Senate from McTraitor, he’ll get the same treatment Obama did. I get the Biden problem(s), but if he will have strong “Coat tails” that can make a huge difference.
Bill #3: Doesn’t care if the people with the $ are bad? What about Nancy sleeping with Koch to beat Cisneros? Letting that POS in is not a good thing. And Cisneros? OH MY GOD, IT’S A SERIOUS PROGRESSIVE! Sorry, Weinstein’s money is slime-connected. Bloomie’s is not.
Bill #1: Very funny, but the best part was Bill reminding people that Biden is trying to become president since 1988 when Air Supply was on the radio, not a need at the top of the stairs.
Bill #2: Brian Cox is right on the number when he said that Social Democrats/Labor have great policies, but leaders that can’t sell it. In fact, the parties can’t sell it, not just the leaders, and it is a problem around the world, i.e. Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Capitalism at its worst, greed for money and possessions, is not a foundation to build cooperative societies on, but this overwhelming focus on wealth aided by an increasing need to belong, i.e. nationalism, has become ingrained in modern culture and has made it impossible to sell Social Democratic policies because the only language the people are willing to listen to and be convinced by is that of ‘money’ which is completely at odds with those ‘socialistic’ policies.
Bill #3: I’d written the above comment before I viewed #3, but given my standpoint in re #2 you may understand why I agree with Bill. Let’s be clear, neither Bill nor I say that corporations are people or that money is speech. Not now, not ever, money shouldn’t play a role in politics or political campaigns. But it DOES now and that’s never going to be remedied unless Bernie and all other progressive Democrats win this election and are in a position to remedy it. So take the money and run, win the election and THEN change the rules and throw big money out of the Congress and the White House.

I see your point, nad sometimes I’m too idealistic. I suppose I can tolerate ‘Take the money and run’ as long as the money does not buy the candidate, the way Big Pharma bought Obama building prescription drug reform out of the ACA.
