Yesterday WWWendy and I cooked up a storm.  We made liquified Progresso Italian Wedding Soup and crackers, liquified Campbell’s Chunky Sirloin Burger Soup and spaghetti, liquified chili con carne, rice, mixed veggies, tomatoes, jalapenos, and chili powder (watch out Squatch), liquified fried eggs, hash browns, and milk, and liquified sliced peaches and cottage cheese.  The chili was damn good, for baby food.  The Chunky (NOT!) Soup wasn’t bad.  The eggs and taters were a problem, because they glopped-up in the fridge overnight.  I needed to add a load of milk to soften it up.    Then it hardened while I was eating it.  Bring on the heartburn.  It will be trial and error.  Today was supposed to be a lazy day, but I had to work on my grocery list and schedule my PET Scan (for Friday) and Lift rides.  Oh God, it’s Monday.

Today’s took me 3:31 (average 4:58).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: In an unapologetic display of animal cruelty, an anonymous group of terrible people released over two dozen pigeons into Las Vegas, with political accessories affixed to their heads. The group, which will not be named here, released the abused birds on Tuesday, in a “sarcastic” protest of the Democratic presidential debate the next day.

Republicans have no qualms about cruelty to animals. Look how cruel they are to people. And why did they need birds in the first place?  Deplorable Republicans also wear MAGA hats, also squawk and tweet about their criminal Fuhrer Trump*, and also shit all over everything.  RESIST!!

From NPR: The daredevil “Mad” Mike Hughes was killed in a rocket launch gone wrong Saturday in Barstow, Calif., two witnesses to the accident confirmed. He was 64.

It was the third launch for Hughes in one of his homemade rockets and part of his eventual plan to be able to determine for himself, up in the sky, if Earth was as flat as he proclaimed to believe.

Anyone, who would get in a homemade rocket to prove the earth is flat, was so stupid, that he has to be a Republican. Condolences to his family, but I’m sure glad Trump* can’t appoint that dingbat to head the National Science Foundation.

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Gerry & The Pacemakers – Ferry Cross The Mersey (1965)

Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

Hi again to WWWendy WW when next you see her. Trial and error indeed. But that’s how you get better at it. “We learn by doing,” my boss when I was working in theatre used to say.

Cartoon – I’ve always found it interesting that a decision which was essentially unenforceable was so influential.

DKos – Yes, I read about this. While eyelash glue is far less toxic than, say, raw lye, that really isn’t the point. The point is that to Republicans, everything outside themselves is an abject with no life and no feelings, and exists only yo be used. What more do you need to know about them?

NPR – Apparently irony is not dead. though Hughes is. Did he have offspring, does anyone know, or does he qualify for a Darwin Award?

Past – I always liked this one. Nice melody and consonant harmonies.

  2. Cartoon: The court’s opinion, written by Chief Justice John Marshall, is considered one of the foundations of U.S. constitutional law. *eb
DK: I saw that….wth??? I would think I’d have seen enough, but apparently…I’m mistaken. Pathetic!
NPR: WOW! He tried, condolences to his family.
    BFTP: Good one!

Boy, that’s sounds like an all day chore working on your food. Glad that you got it done, with WWWendy there too HI, Wendy!  Hopefully, it will all work out for you.Take good care, get a chance to relax, and take good care, Tom.

This just in: “We need to impeach or prosecute every one of dt’s minions who have lied or broke the law the moment dt is out of office.” ~ Been B. ~
    2. “dt is on his 3rd Chief of Staff, 4th National Security Advisor, 4th Defense Secretary, 5th Secretary of Homeland Security, 6th Deputy National Security Advisor and his 7th Communications director. THIS….is a stable genius.” ~ Walt J. ~
    3. “dt can’t handle even a second of bad coverage from Fox news and his trying to get a TV host fired because the coverage did not fawn over him.” ~ Kathy W. ~

  3. In Pediatric residency we got (had) to taste a variety of pureed baby foods – and boy, were they bland.

Long ago when companies (like Gerber) started producing commercial baby foods, they had an unhealthy amount of salt and sugar.  And it was because Moms taste-tested the food, and if it were bland they wouldn’t buy it.

But science/medicine eventually intervened and we got wiser WRT what’s OK for adults is not always OK for babies.

In hospitals you can ordered from a pureed menu.  That I never tried – wonder how it tastes.

    • Interesting about the history of baby food.  When I was born, it was apparently already a thing that babies/children shouldn’t have too much salt, so Mom never allowed me to add it to my food until I was nine, and she wouldn’t have done so then except that I had started chewing on my clothes and hair, and someone told he I probably wasn’t getting enough salt.  After I was allowed salt, the chewing stopped, so I assume I had simply grown old enough to need it.

When I was in the military, I would occasionally use baby food as a way to control potions when my clothes were starting to get tight.  I didn’t find them palatable, certainly, but in the circumstances that was not a deal-breaker.

  4. Why would any sane person glue hats on any other sentient animal?

Oh, right … they were Rethuglicans.  Question answered: They’re NOT sane!

  5. 2:54 I thought I would spare it time in a blender. Lovely though they are, rainbow lorikeets little terrors for other birds, even those much bigger than they are.

DK: Only a Republican would come up with the inane idea to abuse defenceless animals to make fun of political opponents.  You’d think it would be bad enough that elephants are forever burdened by being chosen as the GOP’s avatar and then being shot by Republican trophy hunters or Trump’s sons.

NPR: I fully agree with you, TomCat. I’m so glad Mike Hughes only made it to a Darwin Award and never to any of Trump’s departments that have anything to do with science. Sadly some other like Hughes have.

BFTP: Always reminds me of England, which is not surprising as this song is about a ferry trip in Liverpool across the Mersey river.

  6. Cartoon: Interesting.
DK: Evil abusing R’s. No hearts whatsoever.
NPR: Sad to read of his death. Have to say that he died doing something he loved. Too bad it had to be something so crazy like it was. I also send my condolences to his family.
    BFTP: Love the song.
You and Wendy sure were busy yesterday. Glad you both got so much done preparing your meals.
Hope you were able to get some rest today.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  7. Just stopping in before bed.  I finally have glorious heat after 3 weeks without any!  It has been running at about 22C to warm up and dry out the house.  Tomorrow morning the thermostat goes back to about 15 C.  The air ducts get cleaned Thursday.  With my luck, summer will start early this year — 28/02/20.

BTW, I well remember Gerry and the Pacemakers with Ferry Across the Mersey.  They were part of the British invasion of the 60’s!

    Good night all!  Sweet dreams!

  8. Good feasting TomCat,have a good Tuesday.😗🙂

  9. Thanks and sick Hugs to all. 19
