I’m not feeling too well this morning.  I kept my breakfast and all yesterday’s meals down, but I’m suffering from a pretty severe case of Republicosis that has sent me to the throne nine times in the past twenty four hours, including twice in the middle of the night.  My poor butt is so raw, it feels like Trump’s* must after a session with Putin [R-RU].  On the plus side, I put my foot down to Medical Mayhem this week.  My next appointment is my cardiac stress test next Monday.  Oh God!  It’s Monday!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:01 (average 7:00).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

SCROTUS = Republican anti-Constitutional VD

Short Takes:

From Nation of Change: Democracy 21, a non-profit organization that aims to
combat the influence of private money in politics, has filed a complaint against
Attorney General William Barr for failure to comply with the Department of
Justice norms, rules and standards of conduct…

Democracy 21’s complaint gives a detailed list of actions Barr has
taken since last year:

  • Barr testified before Congress, without any
substantiation, that FBI and Justice Department officials engaged in
“spying” on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential
    election.
  • Barr sent a letter to Congress mischaracterizing the
Mueller report ahead of its release, leaving it as the only information
available to the public about the report for almost a month. Barr then
refused Special Counsel Mueller’s request to release the summaries included
in the report and held a press conference hours before the release of the
full report where he continued to mischaracterize it.
  • Barr failed to recuse himself from overseeing matters
being consideration by DOJ and related to the whistleblower complaint
about President Trump’s call with the Ukrainian President, in which Trump
mentioned Barr by name five times.

Kudos to Democracy 21. They picked a most worthy target in Barrf!  I hope DOJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility and Departmental Ethics Office act on it.   RESIST!!

From YouTube (538 Channel): ‘Sometimes going negative is a necessary evil’: Nate Silver

I tend to disagree. While it may be adventageous for a Democratic candidate to reveal facts about a Democratic rival, it must be done with dignity and respect, because we all need to unite behind our nominee. When attacking Republicans, no such restrictions apply, since for every decency and courtesy we have extended them in recent years, they have returned pure evil, and nothing but.  RESIST!!

Ah… Lona’s memories! Thanks, Lona!  RESIST!!

  1. Cartoon: Of course!
NoC: YAY! Good for them!! Glad he’s being investigated, couldn’t happen to a nicer person…ugh!
538: Sometimes the D’s are much too nice. Dignity and Respect are the cornerstones of our democracy, unlike the R’s who scuttle in the mud making up lies as they ago along. Respect goes a long way, something that they don’t practice.
    BFTP: Awesome!

Sure do hope that your Republicosis goes away. Makes for a long day too. Get your rest, drink lots of fluids, and relax. Thanks, Tom.

    Cartoon – Depressingly accurate.

Nation of Change – The complaint is valid, but complaining to the DOJ – even to its Office of Professional Responsibility and Departmental Ethics Office, is sort of like complaining to Big Brother. If we can get the details of the complaint enough publicity, it may help influence the election in November (appropriately.)

538 – “Warren and Sanders have a lot in common, and they’ve been going after each other too.” Well, maybe. But from what I have been reading, that was blown all out of proportion by the media. You say “it must be done with dignity and respect” – and I would add it must not be personal but confined to an attack on their positions (unless one of the candidates is an actual criminal, which is always a possibility, though, among Democrats, unlikely.)

Past – The anthem of every “blue dot in a red state.” Sign.

  3. TC: It may be possible to avoid some Republicosis, if you lower your expectation of the GOPIGGIES to the depth of whale shit.  Then, perhaps, nothing they do, or say, will surprise/irritate you.
    ‘Toon: Of course!
Democracy 21 needs to be complimented
538: I have misgivings about Silver.
BFTP: We have been stuck with a resident whose paranoid character matches that of Idi Amin, Hitler, etc, and whose attacks on what is left of civilized America have only been mitigated by how strenuously some of our treasured institutions (NYT, WaPo, CNN, MSNBC) have protected us.
Part of Trump’s attraction for his base is Trump’s ability to speak “…without hesitation or reflection,” repudiating “political correctness,” thus he convinces many “that he is authentic, saying things that they’ve felt but have feared to say out loud.”  And this “they” would not give a damn if he destroyed these institutions and resurrected the “Dearborn Intelligencer.”  Oh, Hitler loved it, too.  Well, he’s already got a replacement for the Oxymoronic paper, Faux News!

  4. Does anybody notice the irony of putting a swastika on an African-American?

  5. Your body just won’t give you a rest, will it, TomCat?

5:00 Harder than it appeared at first sight.

Cartoon: Swasticas are not a white man’s prerogative.

NoC: If this complaint against Barr is filed at any subsidiary office of the DOJ; Barr can rest assured it’ll get no further. After he’s made sure of that himself.

538: There’s a big difference between attacking a fellow candidate with facts or with lies. The videoclip seems to suggest that Bernie’s attack on Biden was based on lies. Or is that defence a lie? Either way it polarises Democrats in discussions on who lied or not while there should be unity instead. A win for Republicans where voters can always assume it’s a lie and gobble it up never the less. 😫

    BFTP: Thanks, TomCat.

  6. Cartoon: Truly depressing.
NoC: Smart move for Democracy 21. Wish them luck at getting more to listen and take their complaint even further.
5:38  I agree with what you stated. TC.
BFTP: Remember the song very well. Great tune.
Hope you get to feeling better, TC. I know it gets old having appointments, but if you’re not feeling better, please consider making an appointment.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

  7. Do you have phone or email access to a nutritionist?  Aside from the obvious concern WRT etiology, I’m getting concerned WRT the inability to get food down.

Have you tried something like Ensure – or the Walmart Equate knock-off?  My Mom really liked them and on days she didn’t have a big appetite would supplement with one or two.  (Although those days were rare.)

  8. Thanks, pooped Hugs, and Amen to all! 19
