I had a rough day yesterday,  My lunch disagreed with my gut, and I threw up several times.  Supper was no better.  However I was able to keep breakfast down.  I want to finish early today, so I can take a partial nap, before Store to Door delivers groceries this afternoon.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:11 (average 6:16).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: When President Trump’s impeachment trial opened this week, the Democratic House managers prosecuting the case piled their table high with binders and notepads. Only a few rested on the defense table.

The contrasting amount of material the two legal teams brought into the Senate chamber to support their initial arguments foreshadowed a broader difference in their approaches to the trial.

In its opening days, the House managers have focused on the facts. They are trying to build a clear and coherent story around their theme that the president abused his power — delving into the details, putting up slides to summarize major points, and playing a well-organized selection of video clips of statements by Mr. Trump and by House witnesses.

Eschewing props, the defense team has focused instead on the process. They have used their time to reinforce the House Republican theme that impeachment is a sham and unfair to Mr. Trump — urging the Senate to swiftly dispose of the case without subpoenaing any additional documents or testimony.

Any good lawyer would prefer to present cases based on facts. However, when the factual evidence is completely stacked against them, they argue process to distract frim the factual case. This is why the House Managers are cleaning the Republicans’ clocks. It will probably make no difference to Republican Senators. They are complaining that they are bored, because they don’t want to listen. But another trial is coming in November.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): THE TWEET GOES ON – A Parody | The Freedom Toast & Parody Project

Thanks for including The Freedom Toast, Don. Those doctors may search, but they’ll never find one. If Trump* gets his image on the dime, people will be peeing on money. May voters send the entire Republican Reich the way of the Whig Party.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (The Late Show Channel): Trump Brags About Obstructing Congress By Withholding Ukraine Evidence

This is typical of Republican criminal Trump*. He often brags about committing crimes at the same time he protests his innocence.  RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): Little Darlin’-The Diamonds-1957

I learned to jitterbug to this tune. Ah… the memories.  RESIST!!

  1. 6:46  What’s that saying about putting a spoke in someone’s wheel?

So sorry about your discomfort. I have a grocery delivery today too – comparatively small and also in the afternoon. Hope you got a nap.

Cartoon – “But you go first. And then we can renege.”

NYT – Yes, Republicans are definitely in “Pound the Table” territory. Probably why they wanted their notorious table pounders, like Doug Collins and Gym Jordan, there. BTW, another reason they are crying “boredom” is to promote Fox News’s ploy of “You don’t have to watch the boring impeachment, watch us, we’ll summarize it for you.” Yeah. Summarize it like Barr summarizes.

PP/TFt – TFt feels it’s strong on vocals but Don’s visuals are superpowered (which tells you how they collaborate.) I know I enjoy the variety of TFt’s vocals – not that Don doesn’t also do well. Both are right on the money with the lyrics. Pure genius.

Colbert – Well, Thanos IS an expert in population control. I do worry about the way Traitor Tot slings “mud” (I’m trying to be nice and also stay idiomatic) around, because some always sticks. Another day to be glad I’m old, I guess.

Past – I remember it vaguely. I remember Bob’s Drive-in better. As an apology, it seems lacking in contrition. But, oh, the cars!

  2. Cartoon: Whew, boy. Here it comes!
NYT: A daunting job, for the Dems, and they are all doing great! Give our managers where the credit is due, and it’s here and now. Can’t believe the R’s are pretending the denial game, and refuse to play nice on the playground. We want to see and hear the testimony that dt is saying he’s so innocent of. Abuse of power and of his office, and lying. Yeah, right, R’s. Bring it on.
PPC: Can’t add anything. Very well done. Good Job!
LSC: Gawd, Stephen is spot on!!! Love his show. (and Seth Myers).
BFTP: Loved this one!! Yes….good memories!

Eating food, and not being able to keep it down? Uh…that’s worrisome (to me), and I hope whatever it is, goes away! Hope that you start feeling better, and can eat w/o feeling that way. Take good care, Tom.

This just in: “So..if you’re a Repug, you can cheerfully lie in front of the Chief Justice w/o consequences? If you’re an R, you can.” ~ James S. ~
    2. “The R’s are wearing Apple watches and giving interviews to faux during the trial! So that! rule must only apply to D’s! ~ Terena D. ~
    3. “In the dead of night, Susan Collins voted 10x’s along party lines to refuse to allow witnesses and evidence in the impeachment trial. ~ Sara G. ~
    4. “If dt tried to re-invent the wheel, it would be square.”  ~Iqbal J. ~
    5. “Can one only imagine what it would be like to having a job that is….to keep a daily track of dt’s lies every. single. day?? ugh!”  pb

    • “Can one only imagine what it would be like to having a job that is….to keep a daily track of dt’s lies every. single. day?? ugh!”  pb

But at least you’d be assured that you were gainfully employed, and would never die from boredom … or have a moments rest.

      • You’re absolutely right, Nameless.
It would be a daunting job, to say the least.
        BUT….somebody’s gotta do it.
I think … the count is up to over 15,550 lies since taking office, and still counting.
Oddly…the GOP’ers impeached Clinton over ONE lie. Weird, eh?

  3. ‘Toon: Yeah, that’s equivalency, right?
NYT: The W.H. lawyers have next to nothing on their tables is simple evidence (dare I use that word?) that they are no going to try to “try” the case, just shut it down.  Facts, you want them to bother with facts?  Hey, i may never tire of repeating what their patron saint of horse crap, RR, said of facts:  “Facts are just annoyances.
PPC: Saw it yesterday; wonderfully done.
Colbert: Did not get the Thanos reference, thought he misspoke Thanatos, which would be the origin of “Thanos'” name.  Dumpy, of course, lies his way through everything, has no concept of how what he said 2 minutes ago connects to what he is saying now.
The Diamonds: Loved it then, love it now, but still can not dance.

    • Thanos  Yes, I’m sure it is derived from “thanatos” – Marvel writers are not illiterate.

I only know about him because of a couple of radio programs which feature movie usic  Some very good composers write for Marvel Universe movies.

  4. If tRump BRAGS about obstructing justice, he isn’t fit to clean the poo from the Washington Metro Police’s dog runs!

  5. I can understand your gut is even more upset than usual because of all the medical mayhem these past few days, TomCat. Let’s hope it’ll calm down soon and give you some respite of nausea.

3:52 Many Dutch give their old bike a spray-paint job likee this in a bright colour to prevent it being stolen and to identify it more easily among thousands of dark-coloured bikes.

    Cartoon: Typical Republican deal.

NYT: Democrats are doing the best they can, a truly marvellous job, but it’s not only Republican senators who are getting bored. That will change only when witnesses with new evidence are allowed to be called. Trump is in fact playing with this boredom by bringing in a defence made up of individuals who don’t give a damn about evidence but are there or one thing only, their showmanship.

PP: Spot on parody in a wonderful corroboration between Don’s Parody Project and The Freedom Toast.

TLS: You can leave it to Stephen Colbert and his crew to make edit all these Trump clips into one embarrassing show of an American president making a fool of himself (again) by indicting himself and bragging about it.

BFTP: BMT and never picked up on it later.

In addition to yesterday’s article on Greta and Donald, this just in at the ABC: ‘The youth needs to understand…’: Mnuchin tells Thunberg cash trumps climate 🤮

  6. Cartoon: Yes…Exactly the way they sock it to us.
NYT: Really a shame to read the way these so called W. H. lawyers are trying to move ahead with all of their non factual evidence. Let the R’s continue to try and fake their way through this trail. I agree with others that the Democrats are doing great.
    PPC: Great one.
LSC: Like watching Colbert. He’s really good. I’ve been recording it so I’ll have something to watch when they have the impeachment on.
BFTP: Love the song. The Diamonds was a group I enjoyed when I was younger and still do now.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad day yesterday. Sure hope they can do something to help you. Will be praying that you get better soon.
The anesthesiologist office called me today. Sure did have lots of information regarding the February 7 operation. Stop taking vitamins/herbals one week before. Told me that I have to have an EKG next Thursday morning. All I know is that it’s making me a nervous wreak.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

    • Good healing prayers to you, Colleen, as you prepare for your pre-op.
      And for your operation too.
      Take care!

    • Of course you’re nervous, Colleen.  Medical Mayhem does that to us.  Huge Hugs, and ditto what Pat said! 35

    • “Of course you’re nervous” – Truer words were never spoken (or in this case keyed.)  When I had surgery for my endometrioma, I did my best to fill my mind with planning and packing for things to do while I was stuck in the hospital recovering – books and knitting (and ended up making some less-than-ideal choices – the knitting project I took was with yarn that turned out to be scratchy on the incision, and was too large to work with without touching that area  Oh, well.  We live and learn.)

  7. Thanks and TGIF Hugs to all! 17
