It’s another busy day here in the CatBox. I had CCC install two six foot wands that I bought for my vertical blinds today. Now I can change the orientation of the slats without having to stretch and strain, and now I can open them (slide them aside) by myself. WWWendy is coming this evening do de-stink the putrid TomCat and help with chores. Happy Hump Day Hugs for all.

The census is really getting serious about hiring – 4 emails in 2 days. Granted it is a “gig” and won’t turn into a regular job, there are still people for whom it might be a great idea: College students. Retired people who are active enough to do some walking. Anyone looking for a more permanent job, especially if they aren’t receiving unemployment. Spouses not working outside the whom whose kids are all in school. Many of the positions are “make your own hours.” I know when I worked as a enumerator in 1980, I got to make my own hours, and beat my deadline by enough to be able to pick up extra work from enumerators who didn’t finish. That same year, my mom had an office job in the district. I won’t swear any office jobs are still available, but it’s not impossible. Here’s some information and more links.
Cartoon – I’ve often wondered – and suggested alternatives. Right now “tapeworm” seems like a good one.
RR – He is on a roll. I notice that he is getting into looking-forward-to-sanity mode, which I think is good. Not that we should ignore the impeachment proceedings and evidence, but we should also be focusing on what needs to be done besides impeachment. Of course one of those things is VOTING.
Graham – Lynching was also used on horse thieves, regardless of color (doubtless many were innocent). What all lynchings had in common was the lack of due process. Impeachment is the epitome of due process. But they are not trying, I think, to steal valor from people of color so much as to push the lie that they are the only true Americans, and actual patriots are traitors. Certainly Lindsey’s words were along those lines.
Past – I graduated from Palo ALto Senior High School, a three-year high school at the time. The year before my first year there, Joan Baez graduated from it. At the time, California has a system in which the school system owned all the textbooks, and students checked them out, and signed their names in them for the record. One year I was assigned a book which had been used and signed by Joan, I durned near stole it. (I didn’t, but I did treat it like a holy relic while it was in my possession.) On a newer note, one of the things I learned watching Ken Burns’s 18-hour epic on country music was that Charley Pride was not allowed to sing this in any venue because “Mary” had “hair of gold.” What a shame.

RR: Except for the thoughts and prayers, which are an afterthought, not a preventative measure, the other 5 strategies are dishing out more lies and embellishing on lies. But for a hard core of ammosexuals, nobody believes those lies according to the polls. Yet on election day, people will vote Republican = NRA again. Democrats need to show those voters how to connect the dots.
CNN: Lindsay said, “Yes, this [impeachment process] is a lynching.” Followed without pause by “It’s un-American”. Make up your mind, Lindsay, you can’t have it both ways.
