It’s a busy day in the shiny new CatBox and I still have lots of Chores to do, so please pardon my brevity.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:42 (average 5:23).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Republicans Block FEC Probe Of NRA’s Russia Money And President Donald Trump

Republicans are doing everything possible to throttle every investigation into everything. Why? It’s because they know that, if a crime exists, they’re guilty. Start with treason and work down from there. RESIST!!

From YouTube (J Street Channel): Rise to the Moment

I thoroughly support this organization. J Street is what AIPUKE could have been, if their leaders truly cared for peace in Israel and the well-being of Jews and others there, instead of pushing the policies of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians (the polar opposite of real authentic Christians).  RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: After rebuffing Donald J. Trump’s hypothetical proposal to purchase Greenland, the government of Denmark has announced that it would be interested in buying the United States instead.

“As we have stated, Greenland is not for sale,” a spokesperson for the Danish government said on Friday. “We have noted, however, that during the Trump regime pretty much everything in the United States, including its government, has most definitely been for sale.”

“Denmark would be interested in purchasing the United States in its entirety, with the exception of its government,” the spokesperson added.

Dang, Andy. They should wait. If Russia is successful in stealing the White House again in 2020 for the Putin’s Pee-pee Pervert, the value of the nation will drop to below fifty cents. RESIST!!

  1. 5:01 Well, that was interesting.

Also interesting that sunsets are more colorful and for many if not most of us more beautiful than dawns.

NRA – You make their reasoning quite general (though, of course accurate.) In this case, I think all were personally involved. In some way.

J Street – The only difference between Bibi and Traitor Tot seems to be that Bibi has better hair. Of course that’s a low bar. (To paraphrase Eric Blair, “J Street good – K Street bad.”)

TNY – I had seen this, and expected you to pick it up. Of course, Denmark would likely make the offer contingent on getting a negative-interest mortgage. I wonder if that would pull the wool over our Pee-Resident’s eyes.

Cartoon – Started? He IS the Russian Tea Party.

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day!

  2. Rachel: Sure, they are guilty as all get out, and the R’s are trying to sweep it under the carpet. Unheard of behavior, from DT on down.
JStreet: Amen! Gotta give some love and support to them!!
NYer: Good article, Andy! I agree with your comment, Tom.
    Cartoon: Yep!

Beautiful sunset picture! Ours can be like that too, as long as I don’t see or smell smoke (no rain here for a bit.)
Hope that you have a relaxing day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “You know what would really reduce gun violence in America? If bullets cost as much as insulin.”

  3. Thanks for the beautiful sunset view and the dose of AB.
I’ve read that at least 7 GOP in Congress got foreign (not sure all were Russian) help in their campaigns–and the foreign money to NRA element might also be their NRA money so this could be self protection or protection of GOP seats (for those not at risk from investigations).

  4. Twitler has surely turned us into a full-fledged, card-carrying Banana Republic.

    Beautiful sunset!

Looking forward to your take on the Proud Boys in Portland!

  5. MEDICAL UPDATE

I liked the surgeon – younger than I thought he’d be judging from his picture.  (Then again, at my age EVERYONE looks younger.)

A bit surprised that he was a tad reluctant to do anything – but his reasoning was good: any time you open the skin you introduce the possibility of infection.

But he also agreed that 3 weeks with little change was a fair shot of time.  So he first tried an aspiration – but got nothing.  I was a bit relieved by that, as I didn’t want a pocket of pus.  So he opened it up ~ 3.5 cm (1.5″) and manually expressed the blood.

Then he packed it and put a pressure dressing on and told me to change the dressing this morning.

When I did (which was not a lot of fun pulling the packing out of the fresh wound), I was a bit surprised by how much bleeding it did.  Probably shouldn’t have been since it bled a little on the bed last night.

Fortunately I have some great wound dressing material and cleanser leftover from my cat-bite cellulitis, so I cleaned it and put a Mepilex Ag dressing on it.  They’re an antibiotic and silver dressing that worked well for my cellulitis.  And they only have to be changed every 5-7 days.  But I’m not sure how I’m going to keep it dry when I shower.  Maybe Saran wrap and a rubber band.

He took a culture, but said it didn’t look infected.  And I did finish my 10 days of Keflex on Tuesday.

    • How about an Elizabethan Collar?  (Just kidding, of course.  Saran wrap, or maybe a plastic bag, and a rubber band sounds do-able.  Or maybe TC will have a better idea.)

    • See #7 below Nameless.

    • Glad your operation went well and I hope you can keep any infection from getting a grip on that leg of yours, Nameless. I would suggest a garbage bag tied with tape to keep it dry in under the shower but I see Lynn has already done that.

    • When they sprayed me down in the hospital after my leg amputation, they covered it with a trash bag, secured by several rubber bands and duct tape. 13

  6. Glad to hear that you’re on the road to recovery, Nameless.
Thanks for the kudos! and you stay well !!! 04

  7. When I had surgery on my broken ankle, I used a garbage bag for the size and medical adhesive tape.  It worked well.  The nurses did the same thing in the hospital before I was discharged — they literally took a garden hose to me!

Glad to hear that things are looking up.  Please take care of you and tell Nike I said he was to take care of you too!

  8. 2:32 Must be my fasted time yet, wasted on a completely uninteresting bottle top 🤦‍♀️

Nice sunset, or was it sunrise already?

MSNBC: Another case of Republicans obstructing justice coming out in the open. And what will happen? Nothing, unless those obstructors are voted out of office.

JS: Thanks for posting this, TomCat. It gives me hope.

    TNY: Spot-on, Andy

Cartoon: Vodka party, you mean. Russian viciousness thrives on vodka.

  9. This is the third time I tried to submit my comment. I keep losing my internet/WiFi connection.
    What a Beautiful sunset, TC.
MSNBC: It’s despicable to see how the repugs continue to cover up all of the evilness tRump and others have done.
J St: Hope they do get the support they deserve
TNY: Good one Andy. I too agree with your comment, TC.
I tried to respond to Nameless regarding the medical update, but it wouldn’t work. Wanted to say I was happy to hear there was some improvement. Hopefully it will continue.

    • Hia Colleen, are you going to join us at MeWee?❣️

    • How frustrating!  (And that possibility is why I always type my comments into a file on my own hard drive, and then copy and past to submit.  If the connection goes wrong, at least I still have all the work.)

Replying to comments needs a workaround – put your reply into the regular comment space at the bottom, and THEN go up and hit the reply button.  You’ll see what looks like a blank comment in the right place, and when you submit it it will have your comment just where you wanted it.

      • Thanks, Joanne for the tip.
I know that TomCat also had the instructions too while back, and I didn’t save it!

        • YVW – and LOL!  It works, doesn’t it!

        • So you can copy it. 20

There is a bug in our comment editor that complicates making nested replies to individual replies to articles.  To do so, scroll to the comment box at the bottom, and fill it out as though you were commenting to the article, but don’t click the Submit button.  Instead, scroll up to the comment to which you want to reply.  Click the Reply link under that comment.  When a non-functioning comment box opens under that reply, click the Submit button below that box, and your reply will appear nested under that reply.

  10. Puzzle — 4:46  Bloody amazing!

MSNBC — Republicans just love to accuse others (ie Democrats) of obstruction while it is not obstruction when they do it.  Projection me thinks!  Guaranteed that Republican obstruction means Republican guilt.

The New Yorker — Kudos Andy!!!

Cartoon — Ain’t that the truth!

  11. Thanks and Hugs to all. 26
