My Windows 10 installation is still somewhat buggy, after the update from hell, but I just don’t have time to waste another day dealing with their horrid customer support.  Today is a WWWendy day.  From force of habit, I keep thinking it’s a grocery day too, but grocery day is Thursday in the shiny new CatBox.  I slept poorly last night.  I had to get up for an Alka-Seltzer.  That hiatal hernia has been acting up, and I feel tired.  Hump Day Hugs to all!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:56 (average 5:27)(mouse still flaky).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: Is America Becoming a Third World Country?

Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. If the Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, has their way, we will become a fourth world country. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Trae Crowder Channel): Do What Now – ICEcapades in the Mississippi Heat

Trae is spot-on, but it makes me sick to compare this racist Republican hatred to the gorgeous production on ice that thrilled me so, when I was a child. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: One day after the White House took steps to weaken the Endangered Species Act, an irate polar bear has demanded a face-to-face meeting with Donald J. Trump.

The bear, who was described as “livid” by his spokesperson, has already begun his journey from the Arctic to Washington to express his deep dissatisfaction with Trump.

“He has been ravenously hungry because of the destruction of his habitat,” the bear’s spokesperson said. “The latest news about the Endangered Species Act has not improved his mood.”

Dang, Andy! How could the poor creature possibly bear such a vile encounter? RESIST!!

  1. 5:18 I most definitely feel your pain.

Have you thought about a wedge-shaped pillow? It helps me. And hi to WWWendy WW!

RR – I wouldn’t say it is becoming. I’d say it has become. And I only hope it isn’t too late to turn that around – because it might already be. I also kind of take issue with the term “developing nations.” At this point, the only thing the United States is developing is political cancer.

Trae – Pat B’s TJI yesterday (as Nameless already pointed out) applies to Mississippi. And everything else ICE is doing. Trae’s point about how evil one has to be for a judge to side with undocumented immigrants over you reminds me of a custody situation here years ago when a Colorado Springs judge sided with a gay man over his bipolar ex-wife. Not that either of those is evil, of course, but it does fly in the face of expectations.

Andy – I think I saw some footage of that polar bear! Here it is – what do you think?

Cartoon – So many people don’t understand how Social Security is NOT “taxpayer money” in the sense of the federal budget, but only in the sense of “that money the government BORROWED from me.”

  2. RR: All points taken! Excellent video!! ”
Trae: Good gawd, this is horrible and heart-breaking!
NYer: I still am horrified that he did this to the environment, and to the animals/people who live there! what an As-!!!
Cartoon: Thank God and FDR for it too!
Hi, Wendy! Shame about your hernia acting up, and your lack of sleep too. Hope that you can get your rest (a nap!), take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. I get a number of security newsletters, some from my days as an MIS pre-Windows, that have updated. The one that is the best is Windows Secrets (it combines Woody’s Secrets and Fred Langa’s old Langalist) both of which I’ve been getting for more than 20 years. The founders were computer professionals, Fred led Computer World magazine for years. I pay for that one, but it’s pay what you want. They have a bi-weekly newsletter and a forum filled with current and retired IT professionals. You can ask any question about anything you want there and have answers with links in minutes usually.
Anyway, if you are running Win 10 Pro, they recommend deferring routine monthly patches for 15 days, to allow for any bugs that are trying to squash bugs to be worked out. I do that. They also recommend putting off for at least 90 days any “major” upgrades. Those are almost complete rebuilds, there will be no “new” Windows after 10, so says Microsoft. I am running 1809, which was last September’s update and didn’t really work well until December, 1903 was just released though it is long past March, and has had many issues. Woody Leonhard recommends deferring those for six months. Which I also do. Small consolation, TC, but if what they dumped on you is 1903, well, the upgrade from Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro (which is the only version that allows this deferral) is worth the $100.  In aggravation alone. I hope your problems are over! :^) gene

  4. America. Third world country? I think so. I remember watching 60 Minutes when Bush Jr. was president. They did a segment on healthcare in America. Hundreds of people waiting in a field to take part in a lottery so they could get free healthcare. The good people who organize these events are RAM. Remote Area Medical. This event was in WV. I knew then we were a third world country. I’d bet most of those people voted for trump. But, universal healthcare? Socialism!

  5. RRC:  Becoming?  How about we are already there!
Trae: Leaves me rather speechless.  Rounding up adults, separating their children: Freudian dream work would say that Dumpy is re-living his very own toxic childhood.  And, we are leaving for ‘Bama tomorrow, the land of WTF?  We ought to be back by late Monday.  Unless I can’t campy mouth shut, and the evangelicals run me out of town sooner.  It is amazing what a darling grandson’s birthday will make a person do!
New Yorker: More evidence regarding why the Rethugs have let him stay in office: Doing the nasty deeds they have long longed for.  I do not believe in a hell, but it’s really tempting to invent one just for Dumpy and the crew.
‘Toon: The conservative culture of toxicity has long wanted to wipe out everything FDR created, just as Dumpy wants to do with Obama’s legacy.

  6. RR: Great video….The way he puts it, sure makes it seem like it is.
Trae: Despicable. I can’t believe they have been going full speed. .. iCe’s evilness needs to be dissolved NOW.
New Yorker: What a heartless bas*ard. Like he want to destroy every living thing on our planet.
Cartoon: Bless FDR for signing that.
I noticed Microsoft has been running lots of updates for Windows 7 and 10. My computer has Windows 7 and laptop has Windows 10. Plus like you, the after affects aren’t fun.
Hope you get to feeling better.  Won’t you be seeing someone soon about the hiatal hernia?

  7. 3:37 Bougainvillea is very popular here too in these subtropical climes.

RR: Of course Robert Reich is correct, it has been remarkt upon often enough on PP: America has become a banana republik. No ‘in the process of becoming’, it simply already ‘is’. Thank goodness there are still a lot of Americans who will not accept that and fight it tooth and nail.

TC: Love to get Trae’s unusual leftist view on the usual rightist southern news.

TNY: MAGA, by only giving sh$t for money , i.e. your money, and nothing else. Being eaten by a starving polar bear is too good for Trump.

Cartoon: The only time Americans should want to return to.

My laptop updated last night, and so far there are no problems. The lapop started its life under Windows 10 about 1.5 years ago and since then I’ve kept up with all updates, which may be the reason most things seem to work fine. I’ve yet to update my late husbands PC and laptop, so things may take a wrong turn yet. Keeping fingers crossed again. 🤞

  8. Thanks, Hugs, and Amen to all. 23
