The next couple days, here in the stinky old CatBox promise to be most uncomfortable, with highs in the 90°s.  The humidity is now 87%.  When WWWendy de-stinks the rancid TomCat later this afternoon.  I’ll be dripping sweat by the time I get back to the room from the shower room.  ARGH!!  On the plus side, one week to go.

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Mueller Knocks Down Trump’s ‘No Obstruction’ Claim

I thought the second hearing was far better than the first. For those, who listened carefully, the substance we needed was there. However, the optics stunk. Unfortunately for optics is the limit to the attention span of far too many voters. RESIST!!

From NY Times: A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Trump administration to continue accepting asylum claims from all eligible migrants arriving in the United States, temporarily thwarting the president’s latest attempt to stanch the flow of migrants crossing the southern border.

Judge Jon S. Tigar of the United States District Court in San Francisco issued a preliminary injunction against a new rule that would have effectively banned asylum claims in the United States for most Central American migrants, who have been arriving in record numbers this year. It would have also affected many migrants from Africa, Asia and other regions.

Kudos to Judge Tigar. We are a nation of refugees. RESIST!!

From Alternet: On Tuesday, July 23 — the day before former special counsel Robert Mueller publicly testified before Congress — President Donald Trump was the victim of an apparent practical joke that referenced Russia as well as his interest in golf.

At a student summit hosted by the right-wing group Turning Point USA, Trump spoke in front of a presidential seal — which, on the surface, appeared normal. But upon examination, it became apparent that the seal had been altered in two ways: the eagle had two heads (not unlike Russia’s national symbol), and the bird is holding golf clubs rather than its usual arrows.

Was it a prank, or was it the Fuhrer’s design? RESIST!!

A blast from the past.

  1. 5:50 You must have been some kind of hungry.

Campaign video for Sara Gideon in Maine

Lawrence – Those who pay attention agree – that Adam Schiff was better prepared and had better bullet points than Jerry Nadler did (not that Nadler was incompetent, Schiff was just better.) We have some very sharp Democrats in Congress, and some Republicans who are dumb as dirt. Ken Buck is one of the latter. I suspect his constituents love him … since I haven’t heard of any effort to unseat him. But he tried for the Senate once – and he’ll never get there.

    NYT – Good.

AlterNet – I did see that! What a hoot! Saving it – it could be useful.

    Cartoon – I wouldn’t be surprised.

  2. MSNBC: Yes, the 2nd one was better, but the evidence is very apparent, from Mueller’s testimony (always has been from Day 1. Very good video to view, and how the guilt was established ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’. He had a large security detail going in too, yesterday. Rest well, Mr. Mueller, you’ve done our Country a great service!! by speaking out about your investigation(s).

NYT: Kudos to this judge, and yes, we welcome everyone here to our land.

AN: omg, this is hilarious! Whoever the artist was, it was spot-on! lol dt prolly dt wasn’t even aware of it….

    Cartoon: Yup!!

Hi, Wendy! That humidity is awful, isn’t it? We have a cooler day here, by 10 degrees!! Hope that you have a good relaxing day/evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    This just in:
“Mueller recovered more money during his investigation than he spent.” ~ Bess H. ~
    2. “Trump met Putin more times than he met with the lead prosecutors for investigating Putin’s attack on our Democracy.” ~ Rep. Swalwell ~
    3. “Mueller’s Congressional Testimony in 6 words: “I did my job. Do yours.” ~ James F. ~

  3. By the time I was able to ‘listen’ to the hearing, it was almost an hour in. I had in on the TV, but Mueller was about 3 seconds into his opening remarks when our power went out. Yesterday was the day they were working on the lines in our area and I forgot. I was trying to remember where I put our little battery operated radio when we moved, but all I could do was scold myself about being forgetful. Barry found the radio right where I put it for safe keeping, so I finished listening to the morning session, and about half the afternoon session before our power came back on.
I was not surprised by much of anything. The idiocy of the republicans, and democrats trying to get every possible ounce of information from Mueller.
Schiff, in my opinion, did an excellent job pointing out election interference and Trump’s willingness to accept all info from anyone anywhere. None of that seeems to matter to republicans or Nancy Pelosi, who is quickly becoming my least favorite democrat! Good gawd woman, how much do you need to start an inquiry?!

  4. IMHO, Democrats should not pin too much hope on Mueller’s testimony. What they really need to do is focus on winning big in 2020. Only a major Blue Wave next year will save this country – if we haven’t already passed the tipping point.

The fake Presidential seal is TOO FUNNY! Also, it seems to me that the bird is clutching money in its right claw. Yep, filthy lucre über alles.

  5. Good on Judge Tigar!

From what I’ve read, it sounds like the legal consensus is that Trump’s rule won’t stand.

  6. MSNBC: Barr needs to be de-bared!  Schiff was all but golden, Nunes was a pile of feces.
    NYT: Excellent!
Alternet: Kudos to whoever arranged that!
‘Toon: A forgone conclusion, just ask Dumpy.

  7. Good grief, what was that seal all about!?
i saw it on Twitter & everyone over there is just as baffled!!!
Whoever did it, either way trump has made a mockery of the position of US President! 😏

  8. MSNBC: I feel the 2nd hearing was better. But as we know, it’s not enough to impeach tRump. We know damn well that the repugs will knock it down. So we must fight back and get him kicked out in 2020.
NYT: Outstanding news. Bless Judge Jon S. Tigar for showing tRump who’s boss.
AlterNet: What a real joke on tRump. The Seal fits him perfectly.
Cartoon: Exactly what tRump loves saying.
Been suffering here too with the monsoon weather. The humidity is suppose to improve some tomorrow, but the temps are going up. So I can relate to you 100%, TC.

  9. 3:49: You must have been very hungry for that score, TomCat.

MSNBC: Mueller only confirmed what was stated in his rapport, but didn’t, that is couldn’t, give any information beyond that. But confirm that the president is guilty of impeachable offences, and can be indicted for them after he leaves office, he did.I think Democrats shouldn’t take any chances on Trump leaving office in 2020, so it’s time to start impeachment procedures.

NYT: Kudos to judge Tigar, but we know the Trump administration thinks itself above the law and will either ignore it completely or find a way to work around it. There’s only one way to stop this insanity and that is to vote blue, no matter who.

Alternet: There was a little more to it than that: The altered seal said, “45 es un titere”, which in Spanish means “45 is a puppet”. Mr Trump is the 45th president of the United States (ABC news)

The original source is: Donnie’s presidential seal poster, a true work of art. (lots of other nice stuff there). I wonder if Trump didn’t notice it was an altered version, it’s really hard to not notice the golf clubs, but if you’re right in front of a screen, you’d probably wouldn’t. If he had, he’d probably be very happy with his ‘glorification’, failing to see what it really is 🤣

Cartoon: Altering history has gotten as far as the Civil War, has it?

    • Not to mention the hammers and sickles instead of stars on the little shield (too blurred to see in most of the reproductions.)  Yes, he’s a graphic designer; I thought it looked original rather than photoshopped, and that turns out to have been right.  Beautiful work of art indeed.

  10. Puzzle — 5:07  Watch those beaks!  I can attest that “love birds” is a misnomer.  They bite and peck viciously.  My friends had 2 which grew to 3 about 6 weeks ago.  Even the courting ritual was aggressive as feathers flew.  But the baby is so cute now that it is walking about and has feathers.

MSNBC — Get the impeachment enquiry moving!  As I understand, an enquiry does not mean articles of impeachment are imminent, only that the Judiciary Committee is weighing the facts.  Hopeful this would keep the scandals and “crimes” before the people until the election.  A snowball has a better chance in hell than Trump being convicted by the Republican dominated Senate.  Trump’s low information, low education supporters won’t change but independants might.

NY Times — The first settlers were refugees fleeing religious persecution among other things.  Good on Judge Tigar.  Let’s just hope that Barrf keeps his meat hooks out of this.

AlterNet — The AlterNet article does not give the full scope of what happened but The Washington Post does.  The fake seal is the creation of a graphic artist who was and is totally fed up with Trump (I’m trying to be nice with my language).  Not only does it have the features the article and Lona mention, but it has a wad of cash in its right talon.  Did the artist get Trump to a T or what!

Cartoon — Everything is a conspiracy with Inspector Goosestep!  If he did not have conspiracies, he would have nothing at all!

  11. Thanks and pooped TGIF Hugs to all. 23
