A Muzzle on Mueller

The Fuhrer of the Republican Reich. Resident Collusion and Obstruction, and his personal lawyer, Sycophant Barrf, are worried.  Barrf spun the Mueller Report so well that many Americans think the report cleared Trump, and most have no idea what is actually in the report.  The Fuhrer and his lackey want to keep it that way, and Mueller’s testimony before The House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees tomorrow could threaten their lies.  Their solution is to put a muzzle on Mueller.

In a letter to Mueller, Associate Deputy Attorney General Bradley Weinsheimer said his testimony set for Wednesday “must remain within the boundaries of your public report because matters within the scope of your investigation were covered by executive privilege.”

The letter said “these privileges would include discussion about investigative steps or decisions made during your investigation not otherwise described in the public version of your report.”

Mueller completed in March his nearly two-year-long probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump… [emphasis added]

It also forbid the discussion of the actions of all unindicted persons.

Lawrence O’Donnell has a detailed analysis.

The unfortunate thing is that Mueller will follow orders.  He could just ignore the letter, legally, but that’s not his way.  Democrats on those committees need to avoid beating their heads against a wall.  They need to find out what he will say and get it on the record.  Two questions I think he will answer are: “Did your report clear Trump of collusion and obstruction of justice?” and “Is ‘No collusion, no obstruction’ an accurate summary of your work?”  We could use that clip until election day.

Hope for the best.

  1. This muzzling of Mueller is telling. The Orange Ogre’s goons would not be silencing him for no reason. Clearly he has some serious dirt on tRump. You don’t have to see the mouse, only the shrieking ladies leaping onto chairs.

  2. Good video, and panel. The R’s are trying very hard to CYA’s themselves….stonewalling the investigation. dt wants it to go all away…but, with everyone watching this tomorrow dt will tweet all day long. Like Mr. Pitts, said, ‘since when is ignorance (of the law), an excuse?’

  3. “When people hear” – yes. Because they most certainly won’t read. There is a video now that’s 5:37 long, which would make it pretty clear if people would watch and listen. IF. The biggest two-letter word in the language.

Leonard Pitts Jr. has always been a pretty smart cookie, and plainspoken and clear. However, as to “What more than we need?” – we need something which will, if not convince Trump supporters at least shut them up, if not completely, at least enough so we can go about fulfilling out duty. Is there such a thing? I kind of doubt it … but I hope so.

And the thing that gives me the most hope is how panic-stricken Orange Judas appears to be. If he were confident that Barr’s muzzle would protect him, would he be that panic-stricken? Well – maybe – “Like all bullies, he’s a coward at heart.” But just maybe there is something for him to fear. God grant we find it.

  4. The DOJ letter is a remarkable thing in and of itself; will probably go down in history.  I would be nice to see him take his seat before the committee, pull it out and tear it to pieces, but that is not at all probable.  I’m half surprised the Dumpy admin. has not tried to have him killed!
We will see what we will see!

  5. We shall see where this all goes tomorrow morning. I honestly don’t know of why Mueller shouldn’t answer any the questions that are necessary?
We have suffered enough with all of the various people who said “he said this and meant that” for way too long.
We needs to come to final verdict/answer NOW. Hopefully it will put an end to the bas*ard tRump soon.

  6. If I remember correctly, Mueller had already indicated before the hearing was postponed that he would not go beyond the investigation am what was put in the report. He may have been already under some pressure there. This new letter from a Associate Deputy Attorney General Bradley, not low enough in rank to be completely ignored, muzzles Mueller even more, because he can’t go into any reasoning behind conclusions beyond what is already there.

But what is there should be enough, shouldn’t it? It was very clear from Mueller’s conclusions that he and his team found Trump guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanour’s”, but understood, or was made to understand, that he can’t indict a sitting president and therefore had to leave it to an impeachment procedure by Congress.

I don’t think Mueller’s hearing amount to much, unless you want to see honourable but muzzled men and women do some ritual dance. Personally I pin more hope on Jerry Nadler and his possible intent to start impeachment procedures. By all means, let them start procedures. If they take as long as Mueller did on his quest, they won’t finish before the elections in 2020, so Trump will be scrutinized day after day, but the impeachment question won’t reach the Senate in time.

  7. Here’s hoping that Robert “Three Sticks” Mueller will ignore Barr’s muzzle & actually rehabilitate his currently damaged reputation as a true patriot and straight shooter.

(Not holding my breath – he IS a republican.  But one can hope!)

  8. Trump has been having hissy fits today, probably foaming at the mouth, because Mueller has asked to have Aaron Zebley, the Deputy Special Counsel, sworn in as his counsel.  The Judiciary Committee said it will not swear him in as a witness.  The Intelligence Committee will however.

Part of Trump’s tirade according to Business Insider:

“Just got back only to hear of a last minute change allowing a Never Trumper attorney to help Robert Mueller with his testimony before Congress tomorrow,” Trump tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “What a disgrace to our system. Never heard of this before. VERY UNFAIR, SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. A rigged Witch Hunt!”

    Very predictable!

According to CNN, the Justice Department has objected to Zebley’s presence as well.  I wonder if Barrf will get a letter to Zebley trying to muzzle him too.

I certainly hope that Mueller is forth coming answering the questions, but I am not holding my breath.  If Barrf and Trump have nothing to hide, then why the panic?

Grab your popcorn folks because this may be the best entertainment in town on Wednesday.

  9. I’m watching now and as usual the Repugs are entirely predictable. They ask questions he is forbidden by the DOJ to answer. They keep trying to characterize the investigation as a witch hunt and they want him to say there was no obstruction. He is a Rock(star)!

  10. I’m sorry to say that he is wearing his muzzle.  Thanks and hugs to all. 30
