Last night was so muggy that I had very little sleep. so I’ll be brief.  Tomorrow is a WWWendy day, and I may not have time for more than a Personal Update with no links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:07 (average 4:07).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Is The New Labor Secretary…Even Worse?

One of my co-administrators commented that she did not see how Acosta’s replacement could be worse. I remember thinking, “bite your tongue” when I saw it. Chris and his guests did not mention that sweatshop workers were forced to act as sex slaves for Japanese tourists (and probably, Republican politicians). RESIST!!

From YouTube (a blast from the past): People Got To Be Free – The Rascals

Amen! Ah… The Memories! RESIST!!

From NY Times: The House gave final approval Friday to a defense bill that would put a liberal stamp on military policy by shackling President Trump’s ability to wage war in Iran and Yemen, restricting the use of military funds at the southwestern border and returning transgender troops to the armed forces.

The $733 billion National Defense Authorization Act was passed along stark party lines — 220 to 197 — with Republicans uniting to oppose the legislation. The defense policy bill has traditionally been a bipartisan exercise, but House Republicans have come out strongly against this year’s version.

The bill still must be reconciled with a Senate version that is considerably less confrontational with the Trump administration. And it is likely Senate negotiators will try to strip out many of the House’s provisions.

I like what I see, but I strongly dislike how Pelosi caved and passed the Senate version of the border funding bill without even taking it to conference committee. Tell me she won’t cave again! RESIST!!

  1. 4:10 Too close for comfort.

Sadly, this is all too believable. I can’t even bring myself to laugh.

Chris – Yes, when I thought of “slave owner” I thought of “plantation owners,” and they’re dead. But Orange Judas managed to find a live one, and right under his nose, too. (Well, better under his nose than under mine. I’d probably puke. I was right in my thought that it would have to be a slave owner or the equivalent to beat Acosta, though.)

Rascals – I do remember this one fondly. When they named their group, people had no idea what real rascals looked like, though.

NYT – The House bill will never make it through the Senate. The only question is how much and what will survive.

    Cartoon – Damn.

  2. MSNBC: Ugh! The parade of as-hats continues, and the line gets longer and longer….with these WH departures.

YT: Good memories for sure! How Rad!

NYT: Good that this got passed in the House. Now on to the Senate…..we’ll see, won’t we? I hope that Pelosi stands strong too, and not cave like she did with the wall funding, too.

    Cartoon: Oops!!

Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. MSNBC: Crazy that the fool did find someone even worse that aCosta, Like this one came out of the woodwork. Awful he continues finding these creeps.
YT: Good old Rascals. Liked them. Thanks for the memory, TC.
NYT: We shall see where it goes next. Seems to always hit some sort of bump to set them back.
Cartoon: Yep…sneaky ones seem to get away.
Yes we are having a high heat/humidity spell for the next four days. Hope you have a great day and enjoy your time tomorrow with Wendy.

  4. MSNBC:  “He was a tremendous talent….”  Yeah, like Dumpy is a reliable judge of anything but how scuzy a person might be!
    The Rascals: Great stuff!
NYT: McTurtle, and company, will eviscerate any limitations on their Fuhrer.
‘Toon: Cats are such good judges of character!

  5. 3:03 Not edible anyway.

MSNBC: I was with Robert Reich yesterday, and betted on Acosta’s successor being even worse than he is. Not that a bet like that brings in the money, it’s about the safest bet you can make. The only thing that surprises me at all is dat Trump can find successors at all. That bottom should have been scraped clean by now,s shouldn’t it?

Rascals never made it big in Europe, I’m afraid.

NYT: That house bill will never make it through the Senate unless stripped from its essentials. Knowing that, why did Pelosi have to cave in on the border funding bill? I’m starting to get worried about 2020.

CArtoon: They are a slippery lot indeed.

  6. Thanks all.  Exhausted hugs. 19
