It’s s muggy, lazy day here in the crappy old CatBox, and fortunately I have nothing special to do today, other than writing to resist the Republican Reich.  TGIF Hugs to all.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:11 (average 4:26)  To do it click here.  How did you do.  Cousin Meer is safe.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Elizabeth Warren Channel): A first-of-its-kind housing program

Where many offer only promises, Liz has a plan for that! RESIST!!

From YouTube (RWW Channel): RWW News: Perry Stone Says God Will Strike America With Tsunamis as Punishment for Abortion

Barf Bag Alert!!

Perry is such a dingbat! He claims to be a prophet.  He is predicting a flood on the  verge of Tropical Storm Barry! I say it will rain in Portland this year. I’m a prophet too. RESIST!!

From NY Times: President Trump said Friday morning that R. Alexander Acosta, his embattled secretary of labor, will resign following controversy over his handling of a sex crimes case involving the financier, Jeffrey Epstein, when he was a prosecutor in Florida.

Mr. Acosta called the president this morning and informed him of his decision to resign, Mr. Trump said, as he left the White House for travel to Milwaukee and Cleveland.

The resignation comes just two days after Mr. Acosta convened a news conference to defend his actions in the 2008 case when he was the United States attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

Yesterday, I said I expected his imminent demise. Good riddance! RESIST!!

  1. 4:38 We’ve seen this before, and you said you wouldn’t eat Cousin Meer, so I wasn’t going to worry.

Liz – Redlining wasn’t just for housing. It applied to insurance rates also, which i know because in my state you have to know that in order to get an insurance license. I am betting it applied to everything. And she is SO right. We have to start making that up. (And not just because women of color are key to Democratic turnout, either, but because it’s the right thing to do.)

RWW – Somehow I don’t see God punishing us for taking care of women’s health. Or for much of anything here on earth – we do that to ourselves. A comment elsewhere this week prompted me to look up Genesis to see whether I remembered correctly. I did. God gave us the responsibility for taking care of the earth in Genesis I:28. When he kicked us out of Eden, he did not take that away. So if the climate is changing (and it is) it is OUR responsibility. I could pick more holes in his thinking, but why bother when he won’t listen.

NYT – Orange Judas will have his work cut out for him finding someone to take over the Department of Labor who is even worse than this. It’s not possible to resurrect Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Cartoon – I wish to God four-legged sheep COULD vote. They’d do a better job than the two-legged ones.

  2. Liz: That kind of plain speaking, to the point, pulling no punches, saying it like it is, WITH plans, is what attracts me to her.
RWW: Just another symptom of what is sick in this country: that bozos like him can have traction among so many people.  Of course, they have been trained, since childhood, to not think critically!
NYT: The capacity, if not trained skill, to look the other way when the wealthy, and powerful, are being virtually, if not literally demonic, among the wealthy, and powerful, is mind boggling!  Acosta probably thinks of himself as a good Christian.  Yeech!
‘Toon: The 4 legged sheep seem to have more intelligence than the 2 legged variety…they don’t engage in actions that literally endanger the continued existence of the species!

  3. Well said, Warren! Helping blacks own homes and start small businesses are the best reparations we can give them.

If Perry thinks life is sacred, where is he for the hungry, the homeless, those struggling to pay off student loans or medical bills, children trapped in immigrant detention camps, those displaced by war? What is he doing to reduce the negative effects of climate change? He can take his bullwash and shove it back up his fat @$$. His perverted god is neither merciful nor just.

So now Acosta is leaving now. The White House needs a revolving door! How many scandals will it take to break tRump down completely?

Cartoon reminds me of the Housemartins’ song “Sheep.” It’s sheep we’re up against/Sheep we’re up against.

  4. EWC: Sadly, I didn’t know about this. It’s a great plan that she has, and I hope that it comes to fruition for the folks who need and want this.

BBA: Abortion is a private/personal matter, for the woman, not his. Perry does…however.. want you to get his dvd, and give him money though.

NYT: Got too hot, and couldn’t stand in the fire, eh? Glad he’s gone. Sadly, the next one in, will be equal or worse than the guy who just left. Typical behavior in this administration, imho.

    Cartoon: Yet BET !!!

We are in the 90’s for the next couple weeks, with no rain in sight. (sigh). Brown lawns, and drooped plants. Too hot to do anything, it seems. Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take care, and HUGS right back at cha!

*This just in: “Slaves/Convicts are returning to farming re: anti-immigration policies. If we can’t abuse one type of people, we’ll abuse another. We are Equal Opportunity abusers.” ~ Cassandra B. ~

  5. Puzzle — 4:14  Amazing!  I am under the average despite my hand shaking like a leaf.

Warren — There is systemic racism to some degree everywhere.  But how did the US become such a bastion of it?  Warren’s plan is a start, a good start.  But it is also necessary to keep those who would sanction it out of positions of responsibility.  Good on Warren!!!

RWW — I think this idiot just predicted climate change, not the actions of God.  “Dingbat”?  You’re being insulting to dingbats and excessively generous to this idiot Puddy Tat.

NY Times — I signed a Daily Kos petition calling for Acosta to resign.  In my comment, I said that the Dark Lord will appoint an acting Labour Secretary so that he does not have to go through the confirmation process.  I must be a prophet too.  How many “acting” secretaries/directors are there now in the Trump administration?

Cartoon — I would but the price is too high!  I’d have to become an American and I am not going to do that!

  6. 2:51 Even when you don’t eat your cousins, TomCat, I didn’t take any chances.

Elizabeth Warren: Great plan, Liz. One of many, I would think. Liz is a practical woman on a mission to make America a better country to live in for ALL. One little warning, though. Labour lost the election here in Australia because they had so many plans on so many fronts that people were overwhelmed. The Liberals (Republicans to you) had no plans at all, just kept knocking everything Labour came up with. So in the end, Liz , and other Democrats need to pick out one or two subjects that really matter to the people and take it from there, but still have a lot of plans ready when asked for. But the focus should be on one or two (that was Bernie’s strength too), and instilling a good feeling that everything else will be taken care of too.

NYT: Orchestrated by Trump as on so many of his “the press just happened to be here” occasions. Good riddance, that is certain, but the next one in for Secretary of Labor will be even worse, I bet.

    Cartoon: I can’t.

  7. Warren: Great plans It’s something we certainly need.
RWW: Insane. Where do these loonies come from???
NYT: I too signed the petition to get this idiot out. But not happy to see who will be taking his place. Thanks Joanne for the information. Figured it was going to be someone who’s just as rotten as Acosta.
    Cartoon: Good one.

  8. Thanks and pooped hugs to all. 19
