It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  I spent four hour in blog maintenance, a large part of which was installing security software and filters incoming traffic and block Republican and Russian bots that are attacking the site thousands of times per hour.  (ADMINISTRATORS:  If it says your Name and/or Password are on their “bots might have it” list, it will warn you to change your password.  If you are locked out, email me to assign you a new password).  I’m feeling much better now, after flushing half the Republican Party.  Tomorrow, please expect no more than a Personal Update, with no links messages on Care2.  It will be a WWWendy day.  I’m late and rushing.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 5:34).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Biden letters reveal he resisted this desegregation tactic

His misstatements on this subject have caught up to him. Biden should come clean, apologize and withdraw. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Elizabeth Warren Channel): Elizabeth Warren speaks at 2019 Rainbow Push Coalition Convention

As usual, Liz scored 11 on the 1 to 10 scale. She’s still my #1.  Kamala moved up to #2.  Bernie fell to #3. RESIST!!

From The Independent: Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been challenged by members of the crowd after suggesting that mocking a “gay waiter” was seen as socially acceptable five years ago.

Mr. Biden made the remarks at a fundraising event hosted by former Microsoft president Jon Shirley in the wealthy Seattle suburb of Medina, which is home to billionaires including Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.

The former vice president suggested that half a decade ago, someone at a business lunch could poke fun at a gay waiter and others at the table would silently sit by.

But some in the crowd interjected by saying: “Not in Seattle”.

Why can’t he have an event without a gaffe? He’s just that far out of touch. RESIST!!

  1. CNN: “Did not address institutional racism,” seems accurate, but did he do anything, himself, to address that?  I can imagine that in the congress of the ’70’s he might have had to turn to the likes of Eastland, Helms, and the other staunch supporters of that very institutional racism to get his agenda addressed, as in “Politics makes for strange bedfellows.”  So, either he was ahead of his time, and right about busing, which was later abandoned, or was not such an opponent of segregated education.
Warren: She just rocks.  Right now, my rankings are the same as yours, TC.
The Independent: Just because “…others would silently sit by,” does not mean that it was actually acceptable, which I suspect it was not, and not only in Seattle!  Many years ago, I was witness to a similar comment, a poking fun at an Asian restaurant owner, none of the other 8, or so, of us said a word, at the time, but I never willingly associated with that jackass again.
‘Toon: Yeah, and these clowns were lighting the way to the devastation!

  2. CNN: Good video. I agree, he’s stained, and he needs to step down with a sincere apology to all.

EWC: Such a great speaker. Love what she said. ‘Everybody gets a turn.’

Independent: Not in Austin either. Oops, time to go sit down, Joe.

Cartoon: It’s their line of thinking though. Awful !!!

Glad that you’re feeling better today. Hope that you have a relaxing day/evening, take care, Thanks, Tom.

    3. “You’ve got to be honest about what it means to lead a country, it means killing people. A lot of countries commit atrocities, including our allies, ‘it’s silly and stupid to point out KJU is ‘so mean’ ” ~ Tucker Carlson at the DMZ with dt. ~

  3. 5:46 Watch out for the sugar.

Sorry the maintenance took so long, but glad you did it. So far I’m OK. (Also sorry I’m late. But I had a great lunch with a dear friend.)

Biden – Opposing busing alone would not be killing him now if he had has a better idea and pushed hard for it. He didn’t. Granted that it is possible for people to grow, and in some ways he has, but he doesn’t seem to have grown enough in the right directions to be a good candidate for today. (Though I have to say I will always treasure his take on grieving:

“I promise you, the time will come that what’s going to happen is six months will go by and everybody is going to think, well, it’s passed. But you are going to ride by that field or smell that fragrance or see that flashing image. You are going to feel like you did the day you got the news. But you know you are going to make it. The image of your dad, your husband, your friend. It crosses your mind and a smile comes to your lips before a tear to your eye. That’s who you know. I promise you, I give you my word, I promise you, this I know. The day will come. That day will come.”

Warren – What she is doing is making wonkiness interesting – and exciting. It’s about time someone did. Of course it takes the right person.

Cartoon – Electrical problems – right. That demands a world class pun, but it’s not coming to me.

  4. CNN: Yes Joe has gotten himself in a bit of a mess now. Really sad that he has a problem apologizing when he knows he should..
E.W. Great speaker. Agree with your TC regarding ranking.
Cartoon: Awful to see and remember their evil
Hope you have a relaxing Sunday. Enjoy your day tomorrow with Wendy.

  5. “Biden should come clean, apologize and withdraw.”
    Absolutely!!!

    But….
How does a goose like Biden make it as far & as high as he did?!?!

  6. Thank you for securing the site against against attacks by Republican and Russian bots, TomCat.

CNN: Biden can’t pride himself on 50 years in public office and maintain that he’s nor the same man he was in the 70’s. All that does is leave me with the impression that here’s a man with a very big ego who’ll say anything to get himself into the Oval Office. He’s trying for the third time, he looks less politically trustworthy each time, and he should get out of the way of the younger generation of real progressives.

    Elizabeth Warren: You go, girl!

    TI: Oh, please 13

Cartoon: and those mosques too, right?
