I’m still sick. The heat wave ended yesterday, and, of course they installed my AC.  I have good news.  In a couple weeks, they are moving ne to Madrona Studios.  The units are larger than I had at the Henry and much larger than here.  They have full kitchenettes, bathrooms, and central heating and A/C.  Now I just need to recover enough to move.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:57 (average 5:02).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: Why We Need a Wealth Tax

Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. The Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, are screwing the American people. Fleece the greedy bastards. RESIST!!

From Politico: Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate,” a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Monday.

Barr appointed John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry, the person said. The person could not discuss the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

Durham’s appointment comes about a month after Barr told members of Congress he believed “spying did occur” on the Trump campaign in 2016. He later said he didn’t mean anything pejorative and was gathering a team to look into the origins of the special counsel’s investigation.

Barr provided no details about what “spying” may have taken place but appeared to be alluding to a surveillance warrant the FBI obtained on a former Trump associate, Carter Page, and the FBI’s use of an informant while the bureau was investigating former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.

Trump and his supporters have seized on both to accuse the Justice Department and the FBI of unlawfully spying on his campaign.

I had a feeling Barrf wound commit this travesty for his Fuhrer. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Asking for their solidarity in his trade war with China, Donald Trump is urging Americans to boycott Chinese goods and “just buy things at Walmart.”

Trump made his request via Twitter, where he told his fellow-citizens that it was their “patriotic duty” to punish China by buying as many goods at Walmart as possible.

“If you go to a great american store like Walmart, you’ll find lots of cheap sportswear, shoes, and other items for you and your family to enjoy,” he tweeted. “What better way to show China that we don’t need their dumb stuff!”

Dang, Andy! If Wal-Fart was any more Chinese, their greeters would say “Ni Hao”. RESIST!!

  1. RR: Good for Ms. Warren to propose the wealth tax, I sure those rich folks wouldn’t mind…lol

Politicio: Good grief. Here we go! ugh!

NYer: LOL, Andy! Yes, and while you’re at Walmart, don’t forget to say ‘Have a Nice Day’ in Chinese: 有很棒的一天

Certainly good news re: your pending move. Get well, and have a relaxing day. Take good Care, and Thanks, Tom.

This just in: “Trump has played the farmers as fools & tools. He (dt), does not care about the impact his tariff policies have had on farmers. It has been an unmitigated disaster and getting worse with time. ~ Anon ~

  2. 5:03 Don’t you eat that bee! If we lose bees, we’ll all starve, including you!

That is the best news I have heard all year! Good for you! Get strong and if you need to neglect us some, do so – we will be here and rooting for you.

A photo essay from the Amazon basin. One with a happy ending (and I pray it doesn’t get messed with.)

RR – I’ve been paying a wealth tax since I bought my house in 2002. Before that, I paid one from roughly 1970 through 1980 on a house I bought in North Carolina. And I have sometimes felt half way secure – but I have never been rich by any measure. I’m all for a wealth tax (though I’m not opposed to finding something to call it which might have more appeal, or at least acceptance.)

Politico – This is called weaponizing the Department of Justice. Talk about spinning Founding Fathers!

TNY – Quite frankly, I will deal directly with Chinese firms on occasion, but I will not do it through Mall-Wart.

Cartoon – I’m not so sure Israel should be allowed to have a happy anything until it makes peace with Palestine.

  3. Make peace with Palestine – absolutely! A two-state solution is the ONLY solution. Period.

  4. RR: We certainly do need a wealth tax. They should be forced to pay for all of the years they have gotten away with paying nothing.
Politico: bArr appointed him??? Talk about allowing the dopey ones to do the jobs. Like they are spinning the bottle to see who gets to do it next..
TNY: tRump is making it harder for us with his vicious tariff games. I see that he’s suppose to get together in June with China’s Xi Jinping and his kissing buddy pUtin at the G20 aummit.
So happy to hear about the new place you’re getting, TC. You’ve been watching a long time for it.
I pray that you get to feeling better soon, so you’ll be ready for the move.

  5. I think your getting into Madrona Studios is FANTASTIC!

  6. That’s great news about your upcoming move. It will be much better suited to your needs and comfort!  Now, get well so you can get there!

  7. Thanks, sick hugs, and Amen to all. 35

  8. It wasn’t just the wealthy who benifited from unpaid for tax breaks and unpaid for government benefits over the last 40 years since we have built a 20 trillion dollar debt. Certainly the wealthy should pay more, but we all should have been paying more all along. Mondale was right.
