Here is the one hundred fifty-eighth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Republican Disinformation Officer Sarah Upchuckabee Sanders. She is so honored for lying repeatedly in service of her adored Fuhrer and the Republican Reich.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders was caught lying several times in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, and now she’s defending herself with more misdirections.

During a string of media appearances following the release of the Mueller report on Thursday, Sanders has faced questions about a claim she made during a May 2017 press briefing that she later admitted was false during testimony to Mueller’s team. In an attempt to justify President Donald Trump’s decision to fire then FBI director James Comey, Sanders told reporters that “countless members of the FBI” had contacted her to say they had lost confidence in Comey, when in fact that wasn’t the case.

On Thursday evening and Friday morning, Sanders repeatedly downplayed that lie as a mere “slip of the tongue.” But as ABC’s George Stephanopoulos pointed out to her in an interview on Friday morning, she used the line about “countless members of the FBI” multiple times in the days following Comey’s firing — a revelation undercutting her claim that she merely misspoke.

“You said it was a ‘slip of the tongue’ when you talked about ‘countless FBI members,’ yet you repeated it twice the very next day,” Stephanopoulos said. “That’s not a slip of the tongue, Sarah, that’s a deliberate false statement.”

Sanders, however, refused to own it, and bizarrely blamed her lie on Democrats….  [emphasis added]

Well, I suppose it was “countless” to the extent that one cannot count to zero.

Lawrence O’Donnell has more.

Here’s what amazes me most.  I can’t believe that this is Upchuckabee’s first parade?  How did such an obvious recipient slip under my radar for so long?!!? I’m so ashamed!

  1. She goes pretty low. A liar (deceiver) for the Liar (dt). Every.single.day that she shows up. What’s that show her, as a mother, and a public figure??
Love the meme, Tom ! LOL

  2. “Count to zero” – Good one!

I’m not actually convinced that she is a pathological liar. That would, in a way, let her off the hook. Instead, I believe that every lie from her is a deliberate decision, for which she is responsible and will eventually be held to account.

  3. Well deserved nominee. She certainly does fit the bill. Speaking such lies like her corrupt master.
She’s despicable.  Can’t wait to see when all her lies come back and bites her.

  4. Doubtful anyone was surprised that Sarah Huckabee Sanders – while under Oath – tried to claim that her LIES were merely a “Slip of the Tongue”.

Sarah, darling … as a professional and prodigious prevaricator like yourself knows, that endless lying you do is NOT a “Slip of the Tongue.”

THIS is a slip of the tongue:

“Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a lying sack of ship.”

  5. It’s truly amazing how Republicans have already transformed the meaning of ‘a slip of the tongue’ from “something that you say by accident when you intended to say something else” (Cambridge dictionary) to ‘misspeaking’ or using the wrong words, and how it has become the accepted norm. Sarah Huckabee Sanders can’t claim that “countless members of the FBI have contacted me to say they had lost confidence in Comey” is a slip of the tongue unless she can make clear what she intended to say. “One” instead of “countless” would have made it a slip; “none” makes it a lie. A lie which was repeated in GOP style to slowly turn it into a truth.

Sanders deserves her place here; she’s a Republican to the core who will go down in history as Drumpf’s most loyal staff member, the only one to repeat every one of his lies and come up with some herself to serve him, and the woman with the lowest self-esteem in the country, necessary to take on that role with such fervour.

  6. An excellent choice for the “award”!  It is certainly not an award to which I would ever aspire.

Don’t let that white pearl necklace she wears fool you into thinking she is as sweet and innocent as the soft, white snow.  It is probably as faux as Faux Noise.  She lies just like her boss.  I agree with JD.  She makes conscious decisions to lie.  I remember Sean Spicer saying that he was paid to repeat what the Dark Lord said, or in other words, he was paid to lie.  So much for being a “good little Christian girl and the daughter of a pastor.  Mike Huckabee is another story for another time.

  7. She is only a public figure with the context of the Drumph administration.  In a normal context she would be nothing but a laughing stock, and run out of town, covered with tar and feathers.
Oh, wait, did Drumph take some time out, yesterday, to celebrate his hero’s birthday?
I’ve not been “around” much of late, as I have the flu, and am on meds for it.

  8. Thanks, hurried hugs, abs Amen to all. 22
