I must be feeling pretty tired, because I overslept again.  I just got my A1c results.  I’m quite pleased with 6.0.  Tomorrow Wendy’s niece, Katie, is filling in for her.  I hope to publish normally, but may not have time.  If I can’t I won’t send links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:33 (average 5:04).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): William Barr Improvises Role On Mueller Report Despite Clear Regulations (25 min.)

The more Republicans we subpoena (with cause), the better. Is Coverup General Barr suggesting that Moby Dick might contain evidence of whales, after all? People who believe anything Barr says are fools. RESIST!!

From Huffington Post: Former Nevada Assembly woman Lucy Flores published an op-ed in New York Magazine’s The Cut on Friday alleging that Joe Biden inappropriately kissed and touched her after he offered to help her with her 2014 campaign.

Flores, who was running for Nevada lieutenant governor at the time, described her encounter with the former vice president as making her feel “uneasy, gross, and confused.” During a Las Vegas campaign rally, she alleges he approached her from behind, put his hands on her shoulders, smelled her hair and kissed the back of her head.

“I froze. ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?’” she wrote.

She detailed the unwanted encounter with the likely 2020 candidate, which took place right before she was set to go onstage and speak.

I don’t want to rush to judgment, but I think it should be investigated and appropriate action taken. The Republican Reich already have a bush bandit running for Resident. Democrats cannot afford to copy them. RESIST!!

From Alternet: National Rifle Association executive vice president Wayne LaPierre issued a stark warning that the group may be forced to shut down due to financial woes in a fundraising letter to supporters.

LaPierre wrote in a four-page letter that the group may be forced to shutter “very soon,” The Daily Beast reported. The NRA chief blamed the financial woes on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat who last year directed state regulators to “urge insurance companies, New York State-chartered banks, and other financial services companies licensed in New York to review any relationships they may have with the National Rifle Association.”

LaPierre wrote that Cuomo’s “tactics are already working.”

“Right now we’re facing an attack that’s unprecedented not just in the history of the NRA, but in the entire history of our country. And if this attack succeeds, NRA will be forced to shut down forever,” LaPierre wrote.

That would be wonderful. The demise of the NRA would open the door for the creation of a new organization to do the training in gun skill and safety that it used to do, when I was a member, half a century ago. RESIST!!

  1. MSNBC: Love how Rachel explains stuff. Glad to see that the Committee is issuing subpoenas to those that don’t even belong there. i.e., Ross & Barr & JKushner. What’s Barr hiding? We need to see the report!

HP: Oh, no! Joe..! Why???! Yes, he should be investigated for inappropriate behavior, not good news for us, though.

AN: Yay! I hope that they are in dire straits, as they deserve to be dismantled. imho.

Cartoon: Thank gawd for Truman! During Harry Truman’s press conference on March 30, 1950, the President characterized McCarthy’s behavior as a Republican attempt to “sabotage the bipartisan foreign policy” and McCarthy as “the best asset that the Kremlin can have.” So true then, so true today.

Good results! Get your rest that you need, and take good care, and enjoy the rest of the day. Thanks, Tom.

This just in: George Washington: “I cannot tell a lie.” Richard Nixon: “I cannot tell the truth.” Donald Trump: “I don’t know the difference.”

  2. 5:07 Time is not my friend today.

Now this is satire that goes, I think, even beyond Andy.

You think you overslept – you should see how I overslept!  And I did need it.  But I don’t think there’s going to be an Erinyes.  Oh well, they needed it too, I’m sure.

Rachel – Well, the law is one thing; regulations are another; both are stronger than policy.

WaPo – We need to know all this stuff NOW – before the convention, before the primaries, before the debates. Which means, yes, it needs investigation. Gary Hart was a terrible loss to our party, but I’d rather have lost him when we did than right before the election.

AlterNet – I agree with you, TC. The rot is now way too deep for them to backpedal to their former selves. It needs to start from scratch … and there are some liberal veterans who would make a good job of it, and already organized politically, in several groups. Some from each, getting together , could make something worthwhile.

Cartoon – Hell, I miss Truman (and I hardly even knew him.)

  3. Good A1C results!
MSNBC: Subpoena their asses!  But, be prepared for their trying to dance around any substantive questions.
    HP: Damn!
Alternet: A pox on his house!!
‘Toon: They miss Joe because if he were still here, he would be their favorite tutor.  Sadly, his legacy lives on, and thrives, in the GOP!

  4. Such awesome news about the NRA but i feel it’s a plot by LaPierre for more donations!!
    Meh!!! 😠

  5. The NRA going belly-up? Break, break my heart! 10

  6. Your A1C is doing great, TC. Keep up the great work.
Rachel: Makes it so much easier to understand. I also hope they do issue plenty of subpoenas.
HP: I honestly was shocked to hear about this. Was hoping it wasn’t true.
AN: Doesn’t break my heart either, Wish all gun related companies would vanish from our planet.
You must of really needed this extra sleep to make up for your early appointments you had this past week.

  7. Puzzle —  4:01 Nothing to eat here Puddy Tat, so don’t waste your time!

MSNBC — We all know that Republicans don’t give a rat’s ass about regulations or following the rules.  Barr is just doing what comes naturally to all Republicans.  I hope that the committees issue righteous subpoenas by the dozens at least.  That should pique Trump bigly.  Democrats are doing the work required, not engaging in payback, although I can just here Trump and others spouting off about the unfairness of it all.  There will be claims by Republicans of many more witch hunts.

Huff Post — It needs to be investigated properly.  Democrats cannot be like Republicans and condone such behaviour if it happened.  But I have a question — why did she wait so long to come out about it?  She is supposedly an intelligent woman.  I can see not doing so at the time as she was engaged in her political campaign.

AlterNet — That’s right NRA . . . blame your woes on the NY governor instead of where it belongs . . . squarely on your own head!  Perhaps your practice of contributing to Republican campaigns and attacking mass shooting victims like the kids of Marjory Stoneman are coming home to roost.  Not only that, AlterNet has an article about the NRA going global, encouraging conservative governments and the exporting of foreign made guns to the US.

“…NRA, as the firearms industry faces restrictions abroad, may be forming financial partnerships with foreign companies to get them to export more guns to America, where the market will be more receptive.”

The NRA are a bunch of sick bastards whose only interest is profits and more mass shootings.

Cartoon — McCarthy may have denounced communism, but present day Republicans, including Trump of course, denounce Muslims.  It is one thing to denounce a political ideology, quite another to denounce a massive group of people for no good reason.  Good on Truman for putting McCarthy in his place.

Good on you for a very nice A1C.  Wish mine were that good!

  8. 28Well the staff of Biden was there and they didn’t see anything as she says.they would have noticed.
That’s Lucy Flores, 39 yrs old, lost her run for Governor in Nevada, had worked with Bernie.

  9. Thanks and hurried hugs. 26
