  1. You have my sympathies about the “tooth doctor,” Tom. Late last year I had a crown put in.

  2. Cartoon: Thank God for it too.

Best to you at the dentist, and hope that all goes well for you. Hope you have a good day to relax. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. 5:47 I don’t think it would even be tasty.

Cartoon – March 19, 1963 – all the “Miranda” jokes started. March 20, 1963 – Law enforcement started to erode the decision. (And at that I’m being generous to law enforcement.)

Let us know how it goes at the dentist – tomorrow will be fine, you may not have the energy today, we understand that.

  4. They pulled 2 teeth.  1 left. 01

    I can’t afford $3500 – $4000 for crowns.

    • TC, I’m unspeakably sorry.  Yes, dental care has long been the most expensive kind of health care … although live saving drugs are catching up and even surpassing them – glad you don’t need those!

Are you going to be OK without those two teeth?  Even if you can find some assistance such as Pat and Colleen have mentioned, that isn’t going to be instantaneous.  At least, I trust, chili doesn’t take too much chewing?

You could get a good used car for the price of those crowns.  I just did, and had to liquidate a 401(k) to do it.  That’s absurd.

  5. Sorry to hear that your visit wasn’t the best. I pray that you aren’t in too much pain. Don’t they have any sort of insurance assistance that you can get?? Hope you get to felling better. Take it easy, TC.

  6. Oh! NO!
So sorry to read about your experience at the dentist’s.

When we lived in Florida, (many years ago),  I went to a Dental school clinic that offered reduced rates for services by supervised students and they were monitored by faculty. Took hours…but it didn’t cost hardly anything to me.

I don’t know if this is possible, but is that an option for you?

Get your rest, and take good care, Tom.

  7. Sorry about the dental trip.   Doesn’t sound like a lot of fun.

I made it to the Wound Clinic this morning and was very impressed.

My culture from last Friday is NG (No Growth) so far – but anaerobic bacteria can take quite some time to grow.  And my CBC & hand X-ray were unremarkable.

The Nurse Practitioner opened up the abscess to get as much out as possible, and then packed it w/ Iodoform gauze.  (Wasn’t too painful – but again, I wouldn’t sign up for mucking around an abscess and then wound packing as a Camp Activity.)

I go back Wednesday, Friday and next Monday for recheck and packing changes.

And a recheck on Thursday w/ the Nurse Practitioner who saw me last Friday.  And I have regular lab scheduled for tomorrow.  Something medical everyday.  But I’m very thankful things are being tended to.

    • Can’t say it sounds very nice, all that burrowing in your poor hand, but it is all for the better, it seems. Let’s hope the anaerobic bacteria culture doesn’t start growing as an afterthought. I hope Nike has profusely apologized by now; as much as Nike apologizes, that is.

    • It is indeed good that things are being tended to.  Keep us posted.  I’ll just be like the cat who ate some cheese, then waited by the mousehole with baited breath.

  8. I’m so sorry to hear about your dentist experience.  Please take care of yourself and rest.

  9. 3:45 Doesn’t even come close to being edible.

I hope you behaved yourself at the dentist TomCat. With only three teeth left (or is it two now?) you couldn’t do that much damage – not as much as Nike did anyway –  but your little putty-cat claws can do a lot of harm. But the stress of such visits must have taken its toll, I know, so take a nice long nap today.

After closer inspection this picture turned out to be Dutch 10 The label on the bottle says: Toothache drops.

  10. Between TC and No Name, we have a lot to be concerned about!  Good luck to the both of you.
I ha a root canal done a couple of months ago, and the dentist had to drill through an old crown!  She leaned in so heavily that my jaw is still calming down.

  11. Puzzle — 4:02 Good thing you don’t have to eat this for dinner!

    Cartoon — From Wikipedia:

“The Miranda decision was widely criticized when it came down, as many felt it was unfair to inform suspected criminals of their rights, as outlined in the decision. Richard Nixon and other conservatives denounced Miranda for undermining the efficiency of the police, and argued the ruling would contribute to an increase in crime. “

Unfair to inform suspected criminals of their rights?  What kind of BS is that?  I wonder if the ruling contributed to an increase in crime?

Sounds like a very rough day for you!  I hope you get lots of sleep tonight.  If you have some swelling in your face, try an ice pack for 5 minutes at a time.

  12. I’m in a hurry.  Please see Open Thread.  Feel better Nameless.  Thanks and careful hugs. 03

  13. 28 Hope you had a good day at the dentist

  14. Take care Tom cat I enjoyed the jigsaw.
