Here is the one hundred forty-eighth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. The winner is an unnamed Republican elementary school teacher in Wake County, NC. She is so honored for racism, lying and conflating Trump-worship with Christianity in class.

0213ByrdA substitute teacher has resigned from a North Carolina school system following backlash for alleged comments to students, including that Martin Luther King Jr. was not assassinated but rather committed suicide.

Lisa Luten, the communications director for Wake County Public School System,, confirmed to USA TODAY on Tuesday that the teacher had resigned.

In an interview with the News & Observer in Raleigh, parent Billy Byrd said the incident began at Rand Road Elementary School in Garner when the substitute music teacher became frustrated that students weren’t following directions.

According to Byrd, students pushed back against the teacher’s false claim that King killed himself and wasn’t murdered. That’s when the substitute allegedly told Byrd’s 10-year-old son and other students of color that they would go to prison, based on the clothing they were wearing, Byrd told the newspaper.

“We always dress him with the best attire we can afford,” Byrd told local TV station ABC11. “For her to say that him having athletic wear or attire on was going to put him in a position to go to prison, that really bothered me the most.”… [emphasis added]

Here’s a brief video clip from Daily Kos Network.

What upsets me most is that this racist, pseudo-Christian, Republican might be eligible for rehire.  She should never see the inside of a school again.

RESIST!!

  1. I agree TomCat.  This is another example of how dumpy’s election to resident has reinforced racists to be despicable out in the open.

  2. Of course I saw this, and of course I have opinions. I think maybe I should first point out that different states have different rules on how one qualifies for the substitute list, and I do not know what those rules are in North Carolina. Most if not all states do require a criminal background check. However, this behavior, reprehensible as it is, is not likely to appear in a criminal background check. Even this:

That’s when the substitute allegedly told Byrd’s 10-year-old son and other students of color that they would go to prison, based on the clothing they were wearing.

does not sound like an actual threat which could be prosecuted, unless there is more to it – and, for the sake of these kids, I hope there isn’t. Conspiracy theories – lies – are not prosecutable either, unless they were delivered under oath. (Of course the same applies to any pedophiles who haven’t been caught, and what can be done about that? Probably nothing.)

They did not publish her name, and you and I don’t really need to know it, but every school administrator at eny grade level in the state of North Carolina, if not the nation, should know it, and enough other identifying information to be sure who she is. Will that happen? Is there anything we can do to help make it happen?

  3. Mr. Byrd said it best…”Take a back seat from teaching.”
She also needs to go back to class to re-learn and study history. Seems they are coming out of the woodwork now, and feel emboldened by the Führer, by saying/doing offensive comments and actions.
If she could not ‘control’ a class of little ones, she has no business being in the field of education. At. All.
p.s. NO to rehire too, on any campus!!!

  4. That doofus says MLK wasn’t murdered? Good riddance! He isn’t fit to clean the poop out of kennels at the local pound.

  5. This person is clearly very sick.  I hope she gets the help she desperately needs.

And until successful resolution of her mental/emotional issues, she should not be allowed to professionally engage with children or people of color.

  6. He/she is a sick individual, delusional, most probably, and a symptom of how, in Christopher Hitchens’ words, “Religion ruins everything.”  (Brainwashing indoctrination!)  Drumph’s presence feeds their imbecility, and sense of license.

  7. This person really thought that he is a real teacher??? I’m stunned.
He doesn’t even deserve to stand in front of a classroom. Having such a warp mind.
Mixing up the truth/facts with made up lies sure sounds like another dodo brain we hear speak each and every day.
I pray for the kids sanity and safety that he stays away from their classrooms forever.

  8. This only goes to show, again, that Drumpfians are people with serious mental problems, delusions just being one of them.

I guess not much vetting is done for substitute music teachers, but if they had allowed her to return to teaching after investigating her making such obviously racist statements to children, the school would have opened themselves a big can of worms. The teacher (voluntarily?) resigned, sparing them having to deal with that, but in exchange for what? Is she now welcome at the next school with glowing recommendations in hand?

  9. IT told a 10 year old boy & other students of color that they would go to prison, based on the clothing they were wearing AND Martin Luther King Jr. was not assassinated but rather committed suicide!!!? ? ?

Holy cr*p, how low can these critters sink!!!!

  10. Thanks and Luv Hugs to all. 20
