It’s another busy day here in the CatBox, as I prepare for monthly transition both at home and on the blog.  I slept well last night, but was so wiped out that I’ll need a day or too to catch up.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:26 (average 5:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): In Opposing Voting Access, Mitch McConnell Shows His Hand

Bought Bitch Barf Bag Alert!!

The last thing the Republican Reich wants to see is increasing access to the ballot box for poor and middle class Americans. Is Bought Bitch Mitch the Republican soul, or just another Republican ass-soul? RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Using some of his harshest rhetoric in recent memory, President Donald J. Trump came out strongly against intelligence on Wednesday morning.

“I’ve listened to these people with so-called intelligence go on and on, and, quite frankly, it’s a waste of time,” he said. “I know a lot more than people with intelligence do.”

Trump added that he has stopped receiving intelligence briefings at the White House, arguing, “I can do my job without any intelligence whatsoever.”

Dang, Andy! He’s right! He has no intelligence whatsoever!! RESIST!!

From Alternet: On Wednesday, the right-wing Daily Caller sat down with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office for yet another interview packed with leading questions and incoherent answers.

Here are some of the highlights of that interview:

  1. He said he would “think about” reviewing FBI policies surrounding arrest of his former campaign adviser.

For the past few days, the right-wing media and Trump’s allies in Congress have tried to paint the FBI’s arrest of former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone on obstruction, false statements, and witness tampering as a case of excessive force. In reality, the agents summoned to Stone’s home in Florida used a typical amount of force for a suspect deemed a flight risk.

But prompted by the Daily Caller’s questions, Trump said he would “think about” looking into the matter and that he was “speaking for a lot of people that were very disappointed to see that go down that way.”

“To see it happen where it was on camera, on top of it,” Trump added. “That was a very, very disappointing scene.”

The proper amount of force for Roger Stone is the amount needed for rectal insertion of a Saguaro cactus. I shared the first of five. Click through for the other four. RESIST!!

  1. 5:26 They gave me the brushoff.

https://atlantablackstar.com/2019/01/31/meek-mill-inspires-new-bill-in-pennsylvania-that-would-dramatically-change-how-probation-works-in-the-keystone-state/This looks like good news … only one state, but it’s something, and could catch on.

MSNBC – Not sure there’s a difference between GOP soul and GOP ass-soul.

    TNY Straight news again.

AlterNet – Jeez What can one say about delusion, after one points out that it is delusional?

Cartoon – I already reported that I got mine this month. Thank Ceiling Cat.

    • If anyone lives anywhere near Suitland, MD, The U.S. Census Bureau will hold its quarterly 2020 Census Program Management Review on Friday, Feb. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. EST in the auditorium at Census Bureau headquarters.   Agenda topics include high-level updates on the 2020 Census program, as well as the release of the final 2020 Census Operational Plan.

And, if you don’t, in order to provide wider access to this event and to share information about 2020 Census planning with the public, the Census Bureau will broadcast the program management review live on Feb. 1.

Yes, you’d need to be a Census Wonk to be interested, but, in case anyone is, here’s the link.

  2. MSNBC: Mitch McConnell is an enemy of everything the USA is supposed to represent. Future historians will place him alongside other villains in US history.

TNY: That sounds like something tRump would really do!

Alternet: “Thinking about” a matter is politician Newspeak for “I ain’t gonna do s–t.”

Cartoon: Evil socialism at work! 10

  3. MSNBC: What a great bill, HR1. God forbid, that this excellent piece of legislation would be even thought of, let alone pass. MM- What a cad, cold blooded id. ugh!

NYer: To disparage our intelligence community like this, is right up his alley of being injurious to all of us. Somebody needs to go find his ‘marbles’…quick! imho.

AN: Crazy is as crazy does, and there you have it…crazy talk. Blaming others, (dt), and actions, only falls right back slap at the person who says comments like this, and then will lie about what he said today or tomorrow. ugh!

    Cartoon: Amen!

It’s supposed to rain all weekend here, nothing like staying inside watching old movies. lol. Hope that you get your rest, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Someone please explain what DEMOCRACY is to bitch-mitch!!! ?

trump knows a lot more than people with intelligence do!?!? ? ?

    Social Security in Oz;
Prior to 1900 in Australia, charitable assistance from benevolent societies, sometimes with financial contributions from the authorities, was the primary means of relief for people not able to support themselves. The 1890’s economic depression & the rise of the trade unions & the Labor parties during this period led to a movement for welfare reform.

In 1900 the states of New South Wales & Victoria enacted legislation introducing non-contributory pensions for those aged 65 & over.

The Australian Labor government introduced a national aged pension under the Invalid & Old-Aged Pensions in 1908.

National invalid disability pension was started in 1910.

National maternity allowance was introduced in 1912.

    Child endowment in 1941.

    Widows’ pension in 1942.

    Wife’s allowance in 1943.

Additional allowances for the children of pensioners in 1943.

Unemployment, sickness & special benefits in 1945 (superseding the Queensland 1923 scheme).

  5. MSNBC: Mitch McConnell equals venality on steroids.
New Yorker: Drumph is going to be the poster boy for the dictionary definition of the Dunning Kruger Effect!
Alternet: Nothing Drumph says is to be taken seriously, unless one is a sheep looking for marching orders.
‘Toon: Oh, man, where is Joe McCarthy when we need him?

  6. MSNBC: mItch the bi*ch has a lot of gull remarking about the American people getting a paid day off to vote. He had no right to say we don’t deserve that. Him and all of his senate workers get paid for many days that they aren’t even in there doing one flipping thing.. Hope the people are listening to his crap and vote him out of office.
TNY: What an idiot. He calls them in to lecture these people who were speaking truth. Now on the nightly news, he’s saying they were set straight. What a flipping joke.
AN: Wouldn’t surprise me that he doesn’t understand how to read a report like that. Always finding excuses for not going to do what he’s suppose to do. What’s new??
    Cartoon: Wow..Happy Birthday Social security.

  7. 3:48 Motivated to get it over and done with, because I really don’t like washing up.

MSNBC: No barf bag – my stomach has become hardened to the likes of Mitch McConnell – but a glass of champagne to toast the brutally honest and excellent analysis of Chris Hayes!

TNY: I was reading quickly and skipped the “From The New Yorker:” and believed I was reading straight news. It sounded like straight news (quack), it’s content seemed straight news (quack), it was exactly what I’d expected to read about Drumpf (quack), so it must be a duck.

Alternet: Why don’t Americans heed Robert Reich’s first point on surviving the next two years of Drumpf: Ignore his babbling. Don’t allow him to take centre stage day after day. Drumpf lives on attention, any attention. Ignore him and he’ll shrivel away and die.
Stone was treated like any other criminal, let’s hope the FBI and next the court ill continue to do so;”threatening” review, will be ignored by them, as it should be.

    Cartoon: How Socialistic! ?

  8. Puzzle — 4:17  “Cleanliness is next to godliness” as John Wesley said in 1778.  I don’t think he thought it could be so colourful . . . well unless a stiff brush and lye soap was used on the skin with which people often turned very red with abrasions!

MSNBC — I know you are using a play on words with ‘ass-soul’ but I rather think it should be ‘ass-soulless’ because Republicans do not have souls.

    From Common Dreams:

“When you insist that a bill designed to support voting rights for everyone, shine a light on billionaire donors, crack down on lobbyists’ influence, and protect our elections from foreign interference would just help Democrats, that’s a pretty big tell.” —Kevin M. Kruse, historian

The only way Republicans can get elected is to steal the election!

The New Yorker — “I can do my job without any intelligence whatsoever.” — Stupid is as Stupid does, and Trump is definitely stupid!

AlterNet — CNN has a much longer list HERE.  The idiot is not grounded in reality!

    Cartoon — Thank you FDR!

  9. Thanks and Hugs!  TGIF! 16

  10. MSNBC: Bought Mitch is a piece of work. Of course he doesn’t want this bill to pass. I hope he gets voted out too.

NYer: If I hadn’t of read that this was from the NYer, I would have thought it was true.

Alternet: The orange one gets crazier by the day.

    Thank you TomCat.
