It’s another busy day here in the CatBox.  Tomorrow I’m going to look at an apartment.  Assuming it’s feasible the application process takes around three weeks.  Here’s hoping.  I will be out most of the day, so please expect no more than a personal update.  I will not be sending links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:22 (average 4:29).  To do it, click here.  How did you do.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Rep. Rashida Tlaib: ‘Absolutely’ I Still Think President Trump Should Be Impeached

I agree with her that he should be impeached, but as long as impeaching him means replacing him with Pence, who is as evil as Trump, if not more so, impeaching just Trump is a trip from frying pan to fire. RESIST!!

From NY Times: Prime Minister Theresa May narrowly survived a vote of no-confidence in Parliament on Wednesday, but that did little to quell the turmoil gripping the British government over her plan to leave the European Union, coming a day after she suffered a historic defeat on that proposal.

The House of Commons voted 325 to 306 to reject the opposition motion of no confidence. A day earlier, it dealt Mrs. May a crushing defeat on her painstakingly negotiated agreement for Brexit, or the process of exiting the bloc.

Had it been successful, the no-confidence motion almost certainly would have ousted Mrs. May and probably have forced a general election, adding more layers of uncertainty in a country fast approaching the March 29 date for leaving the European Union — yet unable to agree on how to do so.

The head-snapping sequence of events leaves Mrs. May — the leader of an intractably divided party, with a split cabinet, no parliamentary majority and no clear path forward on Brexit — more politically wounded than ever, but somehow still standing.

Damn! I offer my sincere condolences to citizens of the UK. RESIST!!

From PoliticusUSA: The group of people who put Donald Trump in the White House are becoming increasingly critical of him due to the financial distress caused by his partial government shutdown, the longest in US history.

The longer the shutdown has continued, the more Trump loses support from that group — white Americans who don’t have college degrees — who are his strongest supporters. If this continues much longer it will be a major political disaster for the president and his party.

These white non-college voters are Trump’s true “base” and the source of his political strength. They are also now the bedrock of the Republican Party. Over the past two years they have remained loyal to the president through all of his ups and downs, but that loyalty is now wavering as they experience the devastating impacts of the shutdown. It is estimated that one-fourth of all Americans have been negatively impacted in some way due to Trump’s shutdown.

Among white non-college voters just 45% now say they approve of the job Trump is doing as President, according to a recent CNN poll.

It’s about time that the Archie Bunker set realized that Trump and the Republican Reich scammed them. RESIST!!

  1. 4:59 I made one technicolor remark this week already.

Rep Tlaib – My concern is not replacing him with Pence. My concern is not convicting him, and having him crow that he’s been vindicated. That’s why I am more interested, at this point, in investigating that impeaching (Hint: Investigating is bound to turn up evidence implicating Pence.)

NYT – This is bad, but forcing an election would have been worse. Kudos to Corbyn for opposing it.

Politicust – “The group of people who put Donald Trump in the White House are becoming increasingly critical of him.” I don’t know – that group is Putin and his oligarchs. A few tossed off insults does not, IMO, constitute “increasing criticism.” Besides, they love the shutdown. When THAT group is ready to criticize him, he will be gone.

Cartoon – He did. And more of us should have listened harder and kept it in mind as we watched it get worse. I suppose it was a distraction that by now, the military has been as short-changed as anyone by the Financial-Commercial(-Prison) Complex.

  2. How about Pelosi for President??You go Stormy!!!How about McConnell for weasel of the year?Yes, what the Orange Grifter wants more than anything is adulation, and then some more, as his emptiness is bottomless.  So, I’ve got this video going in my mind, wherein Nancy pulls the football and Ogreputz falls on his most ample ass, while his wig stuff exits stage left.

    • Sorry, the “copy” process did an end run around me:
Tlaib rocks, and her pointing out that Ogreputz is only interested in lining his pockets is spot on!
NYT: Putin must be pissing his pants with glee!  Causing disarray in yet another western power?  Wow!
PoliticsUSA: Realization dawns slowly when one is operating with a compromised brain!
‘Toon: Now, there was a president who knew something, at least one thing.

  3. We need to keep hollering to end the shutdown – and call for impeachment. With Democrats in charge of the House, at least we can get the process started. The GOP-controlled Senate is going to the the problem. And, of course, if we oust the Mango Madman, you know what we get–

So the Orange Ogre is losing support amongst even his core chumps? That is a good sign, a very good sign – and I hope it means the Tangerine Turd is toast. If we can keep reminding people about how the shutdown f—ed a lot of good people, we can have a “regime change” in November of 2020.

If only we had listened to Ike. Now that insatiable brute is bleeding this nation white. And then there is the equally rotten Prison-Industrial Complex.

  4. MSNBC: Spot on, Ms. Tlaib. We’ve extended our donations to those in this community who have been effected by the shutdown. It must end!! Pence is as bad as dt, only he’s more sneaky than dt, and just as guilty as the man in the WH.

PoliticusUSA: It’s all all him, it was televised, and he said he owns it. He doesn’t know what to do about the quagmire that he created. The folks who voted for this traitor have nothing to say, except give a ‘mea culpa’, for the wrongdoings of this id. Shame it’s taken them that long to realize that too.

Cartoon: Sadly no one listened. How unfortunate.

Fingers crossed that you find an apt. that’s good for you. Best to and from your trip too. Enjoy your evening, rest up, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    2. “How did we go from Mexico paying for a wall, to not paying government employees until the American people pay for a wall??” ~ Donna K. ~

  5. I too agree Mitch. Putin must be beside himself. Mitch Mcturtle needs to get off his arse and put all the bills on his desk to a vote.Good luck with the apartment search tomorrow TomCat.

  6. MSNBXC: Power to Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Agree with others that this shutdown must be stopped. tRump punishing innocent people for no real reason but his own bullying crap. Politicians are saying saying that his actions aren’t what a real so-called president would even be doing. He needs to be removed from office now.If he was a CEO of a business he would of been fired long time ago.
NYT: Agree with Mitchell. pUtin must be smiling so wide that he’s showing off his teeth.
PoliticusUSA: Yep..he is the one who has created this current crazy disaster. It’s truly a shame,i f it really took this much disaster to get these fools to finally understand that he’s not for them, or our country.
Cartoon: He spoke truth, no on listened.
Good luck with the apartment viewing tomorrow.

  7. Crossing my fingers for a better suited apartment!

3:11 (average 4:49) I prefer local produce, a cockatoo for example.

Chris Hayes: I agree with everything Rashida Tlaib said here, but alsi agree with you, TomCat, that if Drumpf is impeached , so should his VP Pence, who is equally responsible for the mess Drumpf has created and a Drumpf clone without the tantrums and more cunning.

    NYT:

PU: I’m terribly sorry for all those people impacted by the Drumpf shutdown, even for those among his supporters. But I also know they’ll revert to being a loyal supporter after the shutdown is brought to an end. That particular group of white non-college voters is known for having the shortest political memory in history. As soon as things turn back to ‘normal’, so will they.

Cartoon: The Drumpf mob can barely remember Obama, they only do because Drumpf keeps blaming him for everything. You don’t think they’d remember another thinking president, do you?

  8. Puzzle —  3:18 Puddy Tat, looks like got cut off from your fricassée tonight by two of use!

MSNBC — As is often said, timing is everything!  Is there enough evidence to impeach Pence too?  Trump dominates the press coverage so we don’t know — we do know he participated in the whole fiasco that is Trump.  If Trump were impeached and the Senate failed to convict, could Trump be impeached again or is there a double jeopardy clause in the impeachment process?  This whole idea that running the country is the same as running a company is bogus and it was back in the 2012 presidential election when Romney floated the idea — one is for profit, the other is not.  Besides, Trump did a lousy job at running companies.  One other point that involves the shutdown, Trump was notorious for not paying contractors etc.  What makes people think that he cares about paying workers furloughed by Trump’s temper tantrum?

NY Times — I don’t know why May does not do another referendum.  I know the definition of insanity, but people know more now (or should) and the results might just change.  Given what I have read, the no deal Brexit and the hard Brexit are recipes for disaster globally.  Or are the Brits trying to out shine Trump on the world stage?  Even if they need to grovel some, Britain should seek to stay in the EU.

PoliticusUSA — “…that loyalty is now wavering as they experience the devastating impacts of the shutdown. —“Well it’s about bloody time!  If Trump continues, his approval rating will drop even further . . . like a rock!

Cartoon — Ike was spot on.  Too many did not listen and look where the US is now!

  9. Rep. Rashida Tlaib is awesome!

    Thanx TC
