It’s that time of week again, and here are three excellent video clips from Sam’s show last night.  Enjoy!

Roger Stone: America’s Athlete’s Foot

Stone’s Nixon tattoo is for prison protection. What prison rapist wants to look at THAT during sex?

Military Spending

We need to spend more on the needs of military personnel and none on the greed of the military-industrial complex.

Stop Doing That! With Nyle DiMarco

I learned a lot that I did not know. Kudos to Sam!

I’m REALLY glad she’s back!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): In Opposing Voting Access, Mitch McConnell Shows His Hand

Bought Bitch Barf Bag Alert!!

The last thing the Republican Reich wants to see is increasing access to the ballot box for poor and middle class Americans. Is Bought Bitch Mitch the Republican soul, or just another Republican ass-soul? RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Using some of his harshest rhetoric in recent memory, President Donald J. Trump came out strongly against intelligence on Wednesday morning.

“I’ve listened to these people with so-called intelligence go on and on, and, quite frankly, it’s a waste of time,” he said. “I know a lot more than people with intelligence do.”

Trump added that he has stopped receiving intelligence briefings at the White House, arguing, “I can do my job without any intelligence whatsoever.”

Dang, Andy! He’s right! He has no intelligence whatsoever!! RESIST!!

From Alternet: On Wednesday, the right-wing Daily Caller sat down with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office for yet another interview packed with leading questions and incoherent answers.

Here are some of the highlights of that interview:

  1. He said he would “think about” reviewing FBI policies surrounding arrest of his former campaign adviser.

For the past few days, the right-wing media and Trump’s allies in Congress have tried to paint the FBI’s arrest of former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone on obstruction, false statements, and witness tampering as a case of excessive force. In reality, the agents summoned to Stone’s home in Florida used a typical amount of force for a suspect deemed a flight risk.

But prompted by the Daily Caller’s questions, Trump said he would “think about” looking into the matter and that he was “speaking for a lot of people that were very disappointed to see that go down that way.”

“To see it happen where it was on camera, on top of it,” Trump added. “That was a very, very disappointing scene.”

The proper amount of force for Roger Stone is the amount needed for rectal insertion of a Saguaro cactus. I shared the first of five. Click through for the other four. RESIST!!

Analysis or BS?

Posted by at 10:53 am  Politics

The nation’s Intel chiefs are tasked with assessing and reporting threats to our national security, so the President and executive branch can align our policies to meet and defeat those threats.  That’s how the system is supposed to work. But what happens, if the so-called President is really only a Resident, who completely ignores their analysis in favor of what he wants to believe?  The DNI’s Worldwide Threat Assessment shows Trump is just that Resident, and that bases our national security on BS.

Did you know that “Russia’s social media efforts will continue to focus on aggravating social and racial tensions, undermining trust in authorities, and criticizing perceived anti-Russia politicians” as part of a broader effort “to influence US policy, actions, and elections”?

Or that North Korea “is unlikely to give up all of its WMD stockpiles, delivery systems, and production capabilities,” because “North Korean leaders view nuclear arms as critical to regime survival”?

Or that Iran is abiding by its nuclear deal, even though the United States pulled out, and that it “is not currently undertaking the key nuclear weapons-development activities”?

Or that the Islamic State “still commands thousands of fighters in Iraq and Syria” and around the world, and that it “will exploit any reduction in CT [counterterrorism] pressure to strengthen its clandestine presence and accelerate rebuilding key capabilities”?

Or that global warming is contributing to intensifying “climate hazards such as extreme weather, higher temperatures, droughts, floods, wildfires, storms, sea level rise, soil degradation, and acidifying oceans”?

If you are a regular reader of The Post — or, dare I say it, the New York Times — none of this will come as a surprise to you. If this is all news to you, congratulations. You’re the president of the United States…

Inserted from <Washington Post>

I encourage you to read the Worldwide Threat Assessment.

Here are two short video clips.  The first compares Trump to the truth.

The second provides a European perspective.

If you’d like to watch the complete hearing on this report before the Senate Intelligence Committee, click here. (2 hrs. 40 min.)

Because of this, our nation’s foreign policies are based on bullshit.  In addition, we are ignoring the domestic terrorism perpetrated by Republicans.  Therefore, the greatest threats our nation faces are Trump and the people that know better and enable him anyway,  while they pillage the nation’s wealth for the rich.  They are the Republican Reich.

From YouTube (Jeff Merkley Channel): Senator Jeff Merkley on CNN New Day

I fully agree with my senator, Jeff Merkley. Oregon leads the way! RESIST!!

From NBC News: The massive cold weather front descending over the Midwest this week has commentators straining for analogies (“Deep Freeze,” “Arctic Outbreak” and “Ice Age”) and at least some people wondering what has become of global warming.

President Donald Trump and radio provocateur Rush Limbaugh seemed bemused by the notion that the climate is warming at a time when most of America will be hunkering down against sub-freezing temperatures.

But climate authorities, including those inside Trump’s government, said the record-setting cold does nothing to contradict the consensus on climate change. According to a tweet Tuesday morning from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: “Winter storms don’t prove that global warming isn’t happening.”…

…The discussion of climate and weather, and how much one influences the other, has become politically charged at a time when some political conservatives have rejected the scientific consensus about climate change: that greenhouse gases have warmed Earth’s atmosphere and helped fuel heat waves, extreme storms, droughts and extreme wildfires.

This week’s blast of cold air has been linked to a familiar phenomenon — the polar vortex.

If you don’t understand the connection between polar vortices and global warming, watch this excellent movie: The Day After Tomorrow. RESIST!!

From Alternet: Just over a year after the GOP rammed through its $1.5 trillion tax plan—which has predictably rewarded the ultra-rich while doing virtually nothing for workers—Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his Republican colleagues were condemned for pushing yet another “blatant giveaway to their wealthy donors” by introducing a bill on Monday that would permanently repeal the estate tax.

“At a time of record inequality, the very last thing we should do is line the pockets of the rich.”

—Sen. Bernie Sanders

“Greed has no limit for the GOP,” declared Frank Clemente, executive director of Americans for Tax Fairness. “We need to reverse direction—not allow the GOP to hand the rich even more tax cuts.”

The deeply unpopular Republican tax law already significantly weakened the estate tax by doubling the exemption, allowing couples with up to $22 million to pass on their fortunes tax-free.

If it passes Congress, the plan introduced by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), John Thune (R-S.D.), and McConnell—and co-sponsored by dozens of Senate Republicans—would accomplish the longstanding GOP goal of completely eliminating the estate tax.

“Ending the estate tax would give a tax break of up to $63 billion to the Walton family and $39 billion to the Kochs—but $0 to 99.8% of Americans,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) noted in a tweet on Tuesday. “At a time of record inequality, the very last thing we should do is line the pockets of the rich.”

I bet Trump’s new election Aide, Howard $chultz, is all for this one. RESIST!!

I can’t imagine any of us is likely to forget the historic occasion when an Anti-Abortion March and a Native American March and a handful of Black Hebrew Israelites all came together on the very same day.  (Just re-read that, and it sounds a little like I’m about to break into “76 Trombones. I’m not, but I left it anyway.)  Conflicting videos were posted, though the conflict mostly came from the fact that some were incomplete; beyond that, disagreement was very much a matter of interpretation, which itself was pretty much a matter of preconceived notions.

It turns out that Nathan Phillips, the gentleman who was so much in the spotlight with his drum, was there because he had come to be part of the first annual Indigenous People’s March.  A delegation from the Lakota People’s Law project, which did such fine work at Standing Rock and elsewhere, was also there, including Chase Iron Eyes, who knew Nathan before the event, as well as Phyllis Young and Daniel Nelson, who first met Nathan there.

It was Daniel who sent out the email from which I now quote extensively.  It’s not on the Lakota Law website, so I can’t just link to it

I must now share some important news with you about our organization’s work over the past two weeks and our plans for the coming year. I’ll summarize: Chase and I were with Nathan Phillips most hours of every day last week, helping him bring his message of a just peace into every household in America.

It all started when Chase, Phyllis, and I were recently in Rapid City working on a Green New Deal for Indian Country. Phyllis and Chase introduced me to the organizers of the first annual Indigenous People’s March (IPM), and we joined them in their cause. Over the next month, we did outreach to media on behalf of IPM and scheduled our Lakota staff as spokespersons. I and other colleagues joined conference calls, gave strategic input, and provided logistical support.

We traveled to D.C. on Wednesday January 16th, and Chase, Phyllis, and I participated fully in the Indigenous People’s March on Friday. Chase and Phyllis spoke during the rally and we met with Congresswoman Deb Haaland, one of the first two Native women elected to Congress. The march was a success, and we were feeling grateful to have played a role—but then, as you know, something alarming and extraordinary happened: a serious act of racism at the Lincoln Memorial on Martin Luther King Day weekend.

As most of our team was enjoying the Women’s March on Saturday, I got a ping from an ally at IPM: a video was going viral of Omaha-Ponca elder Nathan Phillips—a friend of Chase’s and Phyllis’ and a Standing Rock water protector—being harassed by a group of MAGA hat-wearing boys in the aftermath of our own rally. I realized I had been 100 yards away from this when it happened: I had been sitting in our van waiting for Chase when someone stopped by and expressed concern over his safety. She said he was near a rambunctious group of anti-abortion marchers. As it turns out, Chase didn’t get caught up in the melee, but he observed it from a few yards away and was alarmed.

Because our Lakota People’s Law Project had been assisting with media prior to, and during, the IPM March, the IPM leadership committee called on me Saturday morning to issue a press release about the Nathan video. I gathered whatever facts I could, ran a draft by the IPM leadership team, and we got the release out.

As I mentioned, Chase knew Nathan. He had actually asked someone to take [the photo above] immediately before the incident at the Lincoln Memorial. And during the media frenzy that followed our release, it didn’t take long for Chase and me to find ourselves in the same room with Nathan—we encountered one another at CNN’s studio, where both Nathan and Chase were doing interviews. We had a brief exchange and then Nathan slipped away.

Chase and I scrambled all day Saturday and Sunday to field requests from media on behalf of IPM. This mainly meant scheduling interviews for Chase, since he had been actually present for Nathan’s encounter. Chase spoke to CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and Democracy Now, to mention just the highlights….

Over the next five days Chase and I stayed at his side, working with IPM to give wrap-around strategic and logistical support. We did research, discussed potential talking points with Nathan, gave feedback after press appearances, and maintained the schedule of interviews….  It was an intense week. Things culminated in Nathan’s historic interview on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday morning. To top it off, Nathan and I had a 1 hour conversation with world-famous hip-hop artist Jay-Z, who called in to offer moral support and permit us to use his name to promote our cause.

The world has been changed permanently this past week, and Chase and I, along with IPM, tried our hardest to steer that change in a positive direction. For one, our march and the media coverage of Nathan’s experience made Trump tweet. We also ensured that an Indigenous voice was as loud as possible in the face of a clearly orchestrated PR effort on behalf of Nick Sandmann led by a Kentucky firm linked to Senator Mitch McConnell (GOP). We put Nathan front and center in the public consciousness. We reminded the world of what a prophetic, nonviolent demand for Peace with Justice looks like.

Nathan’s courage will be remembered forever. He stepped into the middle of a profane, racially charged exchange that symbolized the dark side of race relations in our country: it was the MAGA hat-wearing sons of southern, white plutocrats against a small group of strident, abysmally missguided [sic] African Americans, the Black Hebrew Israelites (if you need a comprehensive overview of the entire incident, ABC Nightline did a good one). Remarkably, a Native American, whose ancestors faced genocide at the hands of European immigrants to America, stepped into danger with a drum and ceremonial song to deliver peace. When confronted by both hostile parties, he kept his rhythm; he stayed until his work was done that day. He made good on the memory of Martin Luther King, whose “I Have a Dream” Speech was uttered at that same location 56 years ago.

Now Nathan’s work continues, and the Lakota People’s Law Project stands ready to help him in any way we can. We are advising him to stay on the side of Peace with Justice. Here is the best rendition of Nathan’s vision for the world that I have seen to date, a moving video made by Al Jazeera….  The culture of violence and inequality that Trump has fostered in America must be confronted aggressively but without malice. This is the pathway to healing…. We will dig deeply into ourselves and find the resources to preserve and strengthen the first modern democracy in the world, while never forgetting to make it increasingly just. Peace without justice is just tinder waiting to be lit, avoidable suffering covered over by disguises. We do not want that kind of peace.

I have to agree with Daniel that peace without justice is no peace at all … no matter how many people buy into it.    I am seeing news sources stating as fact their opinion that this story is a non-story.  I can’t agree.  Neither does Lakota Law agree  What do you think?.

He Just Might Do It Again

After Nanny Nancy devastated Dinky Donnie Poopy Pants, by taking away his favorite TV cartoon (himself) for his wall tantrum,  Dinky Donnie caved-in.  Now people are laughing at him.  He’s red in the face.  His full diapers stink.  And he’s much too narcissistic to care about anything but his own bruised ego.  He’s threatening, and he just might do it again.

via me.me

[R]emember, last Friday, when Donald Trump announced his decision to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, on account of the havoc it was wreaking across the country, furloughing hundreds of thousands of federal workers, creating a nightmare at dozens of airports, and slowing down the economy each day it dragged on? Well, the president has thought about it, and he’s decided he just might close the government again come February 15.

In an interview on Sunday, Trump told The Wall Street Journal that he puts the chances of the 17 lawmakers tasked with striking a deal before temporary funding lapses at “less than 50-50.” Should Democrats offer him anything under $5.7 billion to construct a wall the majority of the country doesn’t want, and which Nancy Pelosi has consistently rejected, he would have little choice but to veto it, describing another potential shutdown as “certainly an option.”

Alarmingly, it’s not just Baby Huey who’s threatening to grind the country to a halt for a second time in two months; the so-called adults in the room are getting in on the action, too. In an interview with CBS’s Face the Nation, acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said another shutdown is a strong possibility… [emphasis added]

Lawrence O’Donnell interviewed Elizabeth Warren about a variety of subjects, mostly this one.

I agree with Lawrence that Liz is a wonk.  However, while most wonks are academic and distant, Liz relates everything she says and does to her empathy for the needs that victims of the Republican Reich have and the pain they are suffering.

I hope and pray that Senate Republicans have had enough.  They need no make Dinky Donnie go in the potty!

News of Stone’s Mueller tattoo sent a wave of panic through the White House, where top aides attempted to predict what the tattoo portended for Stone’s loyalty to Trump going forward.

Slightly over one month ago, Animae won her very first Big Mouth Award.  Now I suspect that she’s plotting to take the place over, because she already won  another one!

Animae is a denizen of Care2, where she has followed us for over two years.  She made a single comment here in the summer of 2016.  After that, she was gone until April, 2018.  Then she jumped in with both feet, started commenting every day, became a valuable member of our community, and won her first award in 12/18/2018.  This new one came so fast that I have nothing new to say about her.

Animae lives upside down, as her feet are anchored in the land of Oz.  She is a Buddhist, and believes in unconditional goodwill.  She is an animal lover, and is also passionate about human rights.  I thoroughly enjoy her sense of humor.  She can’t stand the evils of the Republican Reich.  Her comments are compassionate and insightful.
