Dec 252018

It’s a lazy Christmas Day, and I have nothing special planned.  WWWendy and I are celebrating tomorrow evening, as it’s only fitting that her family gets Christmas Day.  May you have a safe peaceful Christmas, or whatever Winter holiday, if any, is appropriate for you.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:03 (average 8:13).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Religious Agony:

1224-Broncos14-Raiders27

The Browns last week and now the Raiders?  ARGH!!  I said last year that Vance Joseph should be fired.  I was right then and still am.

Fantasy Football Report:

Here’s the news from our own fantasy football league.

Playoffs:

P2

Congrats to Wendy and I for winning our Semifinal games.  We meet next week for the Championship, and my sphincter already hurts from the beating it’s going to take.  Pamela and Vivian play for third place.  Patty Monster and the Squatch play for fifth place.  Good luck to all.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Democrats Aim To Build On Historic 2018 Win, Overcome GOP Skewing (19 min.)

I’m pleased to see that Democrats are willing to fight. We can’t win where we don’t run! RESIST!!

From Think Progress: At least in the short term, Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan will serve as acting secretary. Shanahan is a former top executive with the defense contractor Boeing, which received $20 billion in contracts from the Pentagon since Shanahan became second in command at the Defense Department.

That alone might not be disqualifying. Boeing, after all, received billions from the Pentagon long before Trump took office. And the company is allowed to compete for contracts even if a former executive serves in a senior role within the Defense Department.

Shanahan’s obligation, like other officials facing conflicts of interest, is to recuse himself from decisions involving his former employer. Yet a report in the Daily Beast suggests that Shanahan did not recuse himself from a $1.2 billion Boeing contract involving outdated fighter planes

The F-15 Eagle is a 45-year-old, “fourth-generation” fighter jet. The Air Force has not purchased new F-15s since 2001. And while Boeing released an updated version of this older airplane — the F-15X — Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson previously said that her branch of service has no interest in buying Boeing’s updated offering.

I have no doubt we’ll see far more corporate corruption by Republican lackeys. RESIST!!

From Palmer ReportDefeated and depressed, Donald Trump now sounds like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, if Eeyore were a racist traitor illegally occupying the White House. Trump appeared to bottom out today, tweeting “I am all alone (poor me)” – and he didn’t seem to mean it sarcastically. No one was about to let the moment go unnoticed.

Various people on Twitter compared Donald Trump’s self-centered pity party to the uplifting Christmas Eve message delivered by President Obama. One respondent to Trump quipped “Five kids and grandkids and none want to spend Christmas Eve with you. Sad.” Another mocked his failed border wall con game: “So Why don’t you run down to Mexico and grab that check since you have some free time.”

Another hit the nail on the head: “How is anyone suppose to take you seriously when you whine like a child and act like a lunatic.”

Of course he’s alone. Can you imagine a worse way to spend Christmas than with Trump? RESIST!!

  1. 4:26 If that’s Rice Krispies under there, I’m in.

Rachel – From Indiana? Originally? I didn’t realize there was an Indiana drawl. “No evidence.” Well, there’s never evidence … until there is. That’s what investigations are for. Interestingly, being famous for being wrong CAN be an asset, up to a point. But once you pass that point, you’re toast. And, yes, we must do everything we can to build on this, and we must think “build” and not “hang on.”

TP – I did read somewhere that DoD is extremely unhappy with Boeing, and that “Not Boeing!” was the first response there.

Palmer – “How is anyone suppose to take you seriously when you whine like a child and act like a lunatic.” Actually, so many Republicans whine like children and act like lunatics, and think Orange Judas is the bee’s knees. Problem is, they are overwhelmingly paycheck-to-paycheck working class, and HE wouldn’t want to be with THEM. Hard to believe we have a “leader” worse than Scrooge.

    Cartoon – Sweet Santa Kitty!

  2. MSNBC: We must keep our Dream alive. Lots of work, but I know that we can do it!!! Good vid.

TP: Uh-Oh regarding this news! Welcome to dt’s administration. ugh!

PR: He’s probably pissed he can’t play golf with his friends. I read (somewhere) that he has played 167 times to the tune of millions of $$ to the taxpayer. Since he caused the shutdown, I really like the quote, “So why don’t you run down to Mexico and grab that check since you have some free time.”

    Cartoon: Awww….adorbs!!

My family is in a sleepy mode after our large festive meal, and the excitement of Christmas music, and opening presents. Enjoy your Christmas meal with WWWendy tomorrow too! Hope that you have a relaxing evening, take care, bummer about your guys too. Thanks, Tom.

  3. MSNBC: Yes, we must fight, or give up reason for being!
TP: What else is new, in the world of the GOPIGGIES?!
Palmer Report: Isn’t this the time for “Thoughts and Prayers?”  Gee, where have I heard that before?  So, I guess he has even failed as a master Master, with no sycophants kissing up to him on this day, of all days.?

    • Authentic Christians use thoughts and prayers to empower their own activism.  Pseudo-Christians use then as an excuse for inaction.  Take care, lest you judge the real by the behavior of the fake. 04

  4. MSNBC: I like others agree…we must come together and keep up the fight/faith. If we don’t who will??
TP: Sounds to me tRump seems to be good at picking corrupted ones. Also ones with no experience, (Like military/foreign affair) in the area they’re getting the position for.
PR: Yes he is depressed…didn’t get to go to his precious vacation resort in Florida. Sorry i don’t feel a pinch of sympathy for him. He just cares about himself, not the 800,000 employees who are suffering working without their pay all because of him..
    Cartoon: So adorable.

  5. 4:25 Peanut brittle on a stick, not for me.

Rachel Maddow: Two years is a very long time, especially in the Drumpf era, bur it is hope giving hat so many are willing to fight and drag American democracy back from the brink. Keep it up!

TP: Just throw it on the ever growing pile of corruption, self-interest and  open-and-out criminality. It’s hard to be outraged by each new exposure of corruption, so perhaps stacking it up to one big funeral pile to roast Drumpf and all his cronies on is the best thing to get it over and don with.

PR: Darn, Drumpf has now managed to spoil my favourite Pooh character for me. Yes, you may have guessed: Eeyore. Is there nothing sacred to this man?

Cartoon: And a happy christmas to you too, TomCat. Enjoy your celebrations with Wendy on Boxing day.

    • Oh, dear, please don’t give up on Eeyore.  I’m Eeyore too … or at least I become him if I start to side into depression.  (Srsly – in the Meyers-Briggs system I am normally an INTJ, but if I start to slide, I turn into ISTJ and that one letter makes the difference.  Of course I haven’t started to slide for ages, since being in treatment, knock on wood.)

  6. Thank you TomCat. Wishing you a lovely day with WWWendy tomorrow.

  7. Thanks and hugs to all. 24
