It’s a busy weekend.  Tomorrow I may have nothing more than a Personal Update.  It depends on the time.  I have to start getting ready to move.  I don’t know exactly when or where.  I just know that two weeks from now I won’t be here.  I won’t get the place I wanted.  The other management company had several applicants for the one unit, and they chose one of the other ones.  Anne at CCC is trying to get me into the Madrona Studios.  I’ll know early next week.  There will be no Monthly Report for November.

From Daily Kos: If I were laughing any harder right now I might rupture a gonad. But at least I’d still have one, unlike my Trump-supporting brethren.

A new study from Sarah DiMuccio and Eric Knowles, psychology researchers at New York University, has concluded that men who support Donald Trump are insecure in their masculinity.

Of course, this should be obvious to anyone who’s paying attention, but it’s nice to finally get some academic cred behind the theory.

Writing in The Washington Post, the duo concludes that “Trump is not necessarily attracting male supporters who are as confidently masculine as the president presents himself to be. Instead, Trump appears to appeal more to men who are secretly insecure about their manhood. We call this the ‘fragile masculinity hypothesis.’”

This is easy to understand, because sex among Republican Sheeple is so very BAA-A-A-A-A-AD!! RESIST!!

From Washington Post: George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States and the father of the 43rd, was a steadfast force on the international stage for decades, from his stint as an envoy to Beijing to his eight years as vice president and his one term as commander in chief from 1989 to 1993.

The last veteran of World War II to serve as president, he was a consummate public servant and a statesman who helped guide the nation and the world out of a four-decade Cold War that had carried the threat of nuclear annihilation.

His death, at 94 on Nov. 30, also marked the passing of an era.

95% of the time I disagreed with him, and can never forgive his failure to use a condom EVERY time, but compared to today’s Republicans, he was a saint. My condolences to the Bush family and to all who loved him. RESIST!!

    DKos – I saw the study elsewhere, but there are few who can run with a story like this as Pennyfarthing can. LOL indeed!

    Rachel – “It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up” – true then, true now, true always. And, yes, you have to get up very early indeed (like maybe two days early) to get ahead of Rachel.

    WaPo – They also have a memoir from Bill Clinton, who cites the note HW left for him in the Oval Office:

  3. The elder Bush was underrated as a President, and may have been more of a moderate if he had not served under Reagan for eight years. Compared to a lot of Republicans these days, he was a liberal.

    But please – pace yourself!

    If you miss a few posts while tending to things that need tending, we will all perfectly understand.

    In medicine, it’s call triaging.  Do the urgent and necessary things first, and let the other stuff slide.

    Daily Kos — LMAO!!!  Diaper Don secure in his masculinity?  The president may present himself to be secure in his masculinity, but anyone who feels it necessary to brag about the size of his male appendage, on stage during a political debate no less, is not secure in his masculinity.  In physics, males insecure in their masculinity should be repelled by Diaper Don not latching on as supporters!

    MSNBC — Rachel has this down pat!  Now to wait for all the pieces to fall into place.  It can’t happen fast enough!

    WaPo — Of course the internet is a buzz with the passing of George HW Bush.  The 5 ex-presidents are now 4 with Jimmy Carter the oldest at 94 years old, only 3.5 months younger than Bush.  Rest in Peace

  11. So sorry you won’t be getting the place you wanted, TomCat, and now have to move to one that perhaps doesn’t fit all your requirements, and right after you’ve come out of hospital too. That must be quite upsetting. Will you be able to recruit enough friends, old-colleagues and the boys who you helped regain their freedom to help you move in two weeks time? You must be really cranky and stressed, so make sure you spend your time wisely and leave Politics Plus to your staff, you hear! ?

    DK: Funny indeed, as studies after WWII led to the development of the Authoritarian personality concept, both in terms of the authoritarian themselves with strict, controlling, critical, rigid, and punitive characteristics, raising children with the same characteristics and/or the following traits:
    (a) prejudice (negative attitudes towards the other),
    (b) rigidity (closed-mindedness, dogmatic, black-and-white thinking),
    (c) lack of sense of humor,
    (d) self-abnegation (denial of one’s own impulses and avoidance of self-gratification, i.e., pleasure),
    (e) fatalism (e.g., belief in astrology and mysticism)
    (f) obedience and admiration of authority (also labeled suggestibility, conformity, passivity, and submissiveness), and
    (g) low tolerance for uncertainty/ambiguity.
    Some research pointed to a link between this right-wing, i.e. conservative, political views and voting.
    In later years the Authoritarian personality came under fire and was almost forgotten, but in the Drumpf era it is understandable that the research is taken up again. The traits above are all too recognisable, aren’t they?

    Rachel Maddow: I can just picture Mueller’s agenda notifying him of her show in 10 minutes time and Mueller dropping whatever he’s doing at the time and rushing to seat himself on the couch with notebook and pen on his lap, ready for all she has thought out this time. He then checks her information theories with his own and orders his crew to pursue any leads they hadn’t come up with yet.

    WP: Condolences to the Bush family and to America for the loss of its 41st president.
    I’ve not lived through his presidency and the ones after his, therefore I have no memories to compare him with others. My only vivid memory is that of watching the late news in a hotel room during a training course when George H.W. Bush and his administration used Kuwait as the spark to ignite the Iraqi tinderbox. I incredulously watched the incredible large scale bombardments all through the night. I truly wish I had better memories of him.
