Shame on NBC!

One of JD’s memes pointed out a valuable lesson a while back.  If one politician says it’s sunny and the other says it’s stormy, most media will try to argue that both are equally true, when they could just turn around and look out the window.  If that isn’t bad enough, NBC just took money to air a Republican racist screed against the caravan that is not only full of hate, but also, as easy to prove false as JD’s meme.  Shame on NBC!

If you’ve been watching cable news this past week, you’ve seen enough bits and pieces of Donald Trump’s overtly racist (and typically dishonest) television ad about the migrant caravan to recognize it when you see it. The thing is, if you were watching the NFL Sunday Night Football game on NBC tonight, you never thought you’d see it – but you did.

In a stunning move, NBC decided to air Trump’s caravan ad during the game. Perhaps you’re not surprised. It’s not the first time a television network has run a terrible or dishonest political ad, in the name of revenue. But this ad is different. This is the one ad that’s so far beyond the pale, no one wanted to run it. In fact networks have been making a concerted effort at scoring points by announcing that they would not air it.

After Donald Trump Jr complained on Twitter this week that CNN was refusing to run the caravan ad, CNN used its official corporate communications account to tell Junior off, calling the ad “racist” in the process. We all know it’s racist. But when a major television network is flat out using that word in an official capacity, it’s clear that we’re talking about one of the most inappropriate national television ads in the history of American politics. Yet NBC ran the damn thing anyway… [emphasis added]

Here’s a video of CNN debunking the ad that they refused to run.

I an thoroughly disgusted with NBC.  They owe an apology to every American and support for refugees to mitigate the damage they have done.

RESIST!!

VOTE BLUE!!

  1. The Traitor Tot ad they SHOULD have run is the one with the montage of clips in which he calls Ted Cruz everything but a gentleman.  Speechless. (Even Fox didn’t run it.)

  2. I saw that, WTH?? dt= No compassion whatsoever, sickening ad. Shame on them!

  3. NBC needs and must announce publicly that it apologizes for the ad it ran, immediately.

    .

  4. I did not see the ad. I have since it made the news and NBC is being bashed for airing it, rightfully. I’m not surprised. NBC is a typical corporate entity and money is its main goal. It was MSNBC that gave Trump more airtime than any other network, including FOX, when Trump first started running for president. It was Trump fever. MSNBC’s ratings went sky high and so did there revenues. Trump was on MSNBC 24/7, which upset me so much I started not watching anymore. MSNBC didn’t stop that coverage until Trump himself started having fights with their on air personalities (on the air) because they started to call him on his lies. MSNBC gave legitimacy to Trump, because MSNBC had a good reputation with people. They blew their reputation with me, but I still watch Rachel.

  5. Sadly that despicable ad doesn’t shock me, trump & his regime now panicking have obviously stooped to new lows!!! ?

  6. As if we needed more proof that tRump is not just a pr*ck, but a super-pr*ck. Hell, these days, nearly all (if not all) Republicans are pr*cks!

  7. It was too late, but the shame-storm did make NBC alter their minds:

“After further review we recognise the insensitive nature of the ad and have decided to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible,” an NBC spokesperson said. (AustralianBC).

    After further review? ??

Fox News, which had also been running the ad, issued a statement about taking it down shortly after NBC, according to a CNN report.

“Upon further review, Fox News pulled the ad yesterday and it will not appear on either Fox News Channel or Fox Business Network,” Marianne Gambelli, Fox News’ president of advertisement sales, told CNN in a statement.

Facebook has also decided to stop selling advertising space to the clip, although users will still be able to share it on their accounts.

Mr Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted that NBC News, CNN and Facebook had chosen “to stand with those ILLEGALLY IN THIS COUNTRY”.

Parscale of course didn’t mention Faux News in his statement.

    Good luck with voting, America!

  8. Despicable. I agree with so many of the comments above. NBC does need to apologize for airing it. tRump shall pay for his ugly sins. Hope he will be crying away, when the mighty Blues win tomorrow.

  9. NBC? The same folks who gave $92 million to the lying, bigoted, former Faux News twit, whatever her name is? Shame on their asses!

  10. I’ve LOATHED NBC ever since Chucky Todd, Dancin’ Dave Gregory and Matt Philandering Lauer showed their true colors as right-wing hacks.

It’s owned by COMCAST – another right-wing bastion.

I avoid that station at all costs.

(OK – I’ll admit I watch the Roundtable portion of “Meet the Press”if my blood pressure is under control.  It ALWAYS favors TWO RepubliKlans to one Democrat.)

  11. From Bob Woodward’s book “Fear” quoting candidate Trump on 31 March 2016:

“Real power is — I don’t even want to use the word — fear.”

Hence why we are seeing Diaper Don stoking the flames of hatred.  And the hell with accuracy.  It does not matter.  For Diaper Don, the only thing that matters is winning to keep power!

It would seem that NBC is using that rationale, only for them, the only thing that matters is ad revenue and market share, wherever and whatever that market is.

  12. Thanks all.  Burned out hugs! 40
