It’s been a busy day here in the CatBox with lots of chores keeping me too busy.  It’s cool fall weather, but with 89% humidity, my clothes stick to me and feel clammy.  That and pre-election brain-drain have been keeping me awake at night, so I feel quite tired.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (average 6:08).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Trump plans on ending birthright citizenship

The Fuhrer wants to add "white" to the 14th Amendment and stoke the Republican Reich to create more bombers and mass-murderers. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From YouTube (Vox Channel): Admit it. Republicans have broken politics.

Anyone who has read me over the years knows that I’ve talked about the exact same things throughout the last decade, but I love the term "asymmetrical polarization". RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: The chief executive officer of Fox News said on Monday that Megyn Kelly’s nostalgic remarks about blackface were insufficiently racist for the right-wing cable channel to consider rehiring her.

“We at Fox have nothing but respect for Megyn’s achievements as a racist television personality,” Suzanne Scott, the Fox News C.E.O., said. “Having said that, we do not feel that her blackface comments represent her best work.”

Scott expressed concern that, by trying to tone down her racism for the morning-television audience on NBC, Kelly might have “gotten a little rusty, hate-wise.”

Dang, Andy! Do you think it’s really that? The way the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, treats women, I think it’s because her boobs sag a bit. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

Cartoon:

It’s as true today as it was when I made it in 2011.

  1. 6:49 Mythical creatures are generally too tough to be tasty.

Citizenship – No, he does not have the authority to rescind a Constitutional Amendment. But that won;t stop him from thinking he does and convincing hordes of his followers that he does. I don’t like guns but I may be sharpening my short sword here pretty soon, in self defense.

Vox – “Asymmetrical polarization” is exactly why “bothsiderism” is not just a lie, but a damned lie. Plus, it’s a great phrase!

TNY – I’m not going to go there. I truly would be happy to hear no more about racism today. That won;t happen, but it would make me happy.

    Cartoon – Word.

    • Quick update on Maya Little, the UNC student about whom Meg Yarnell wrote so eloquently (Erinyes October 20)

      • “In light of his advocacy for the Confederacy, should Pray be given the right to decide my fate, the way that slave owners were once given the legal power to decide the fate of black people accused of crimes?” she added. (Maya speaking)
Maya was correct in saying that, and for doing what she thought was right, and in her heart.
Shame people cannot own up to the past and it’s mistakes, and work for a future void of prejudice and hate. Looks like it’s still alive and well, and not just in NC either.
Thanks for the follow-up post, Joanne.

      • Does anyone know what power the Honor Court wields?

And how the hell did that Pray guy get selected as a judge?  Sounds fishy at best.

  2. The Orange Ogre is utterly delusional. He seems to think that he is an absolute dictator. Thank goodness – and the Founding Fathers – he isn’t. Yet. But DON’T count on things staying that way. A Republican-controlled Congress could do a lot of damage in the next two years. Don’t agonize – get your arse to the polls and vote!

I can understand wanting to end birthright citizenship, because a lot of foreigners come here to give birth so their children will automatically be US citizens. However, there must be a better way of addressing that issue.

  3. CNN: What a mean cruel id.

Vox: Good video and explanation about how it gets mean and gritty between the parties.

NYer: I’m just glad she’s gone, Andy. Good riddance!

    Cartoon: Sad. Oh, so sad.

I mowed today, so I’m done for the day. lol. Supposed to turn cooler here, and rain tomorrow for the little ones trick & treating. bummer. Hope you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “This Halloween we will be painting our pumpkins Blue. We’ve seen enough Orange to last a lifetime.” ~ Quaker 4 C ~

    • I mowed yesterday and had to bag because of all the leaves.  Then put my last application of Fall/Winter fertilizer down (#3 in the series).

I was pooped!  But we’re supposed to get rain today – and I sure hope so!

  4. Since it’s Halloween time, for those of you (like me) who loathe Candy Corn – but are a bit curious about it – a Link with some interesting factoids:

  5. Trump claims he can end birthright citizenship: As usual, he is full of s___t.

Admit it. Republicans have broken politics. So true. But, the koch bros. have exerted enormous influence into the republican party.

    NewYorker: Bye-bye Megyn Kelly

Cartoon: The republican view of women and baby. sigh…

    .

  6. CNN: It is hard to know whether he believes he can change the constitution, all by his piggy little self, or if he knows, only, that his “deplorables” will eat this crap up, just like all the other garbage he spews.
Vox Channel: So, who was that sitting next to Pres.Obama, non other than Orange Boehner!  He and McTurtle screwed America royally.
New Yorker: Sadly, Kelly walks away with her multi-millions, but maybe (and I’m not going to hold my breath) we’ll never see her visage on tv again.
‘Toon: How about renaming the thing “The Hypocrite Bastard View?”

  7. CNN: tRump claims he can end birthright citizenship???? Where and the heck does this idiot come up with his insane notions? We have all sorts of problems in the world he really should be taking care of, but decides to go a totally different direction, to try and screw up something “Off the Wall”, instead. Brainless idiot.Vox: “asymmetrical polarization” fits perfectly.NY: Never was a fan of Megan Kelly. Got what she deserved.Cartoon: Sad indeed. One more week, we must get out there and vote Blue.

  8. CNN: Each new day brings another Drumpf stunt intended to get Republicans to the polls and divert the rest. Republicans must be getting really desperate about their seats if this is the level politics has come down to. Having “them” (who are these “thems” he comes up with all the time?) claiming he has the authority to change the Constitution by bypassing Congress with an Executive order, is bad enough but basing it on a lie (no other country give babies born there a right to citizenship. Only 30 others do that!) is so typically Drumpf and a farce as usual.

Vox: I think this is even more skewered than it appears because the centre seems to have moved to the right over the past 40 years too: America has moved to the right as a whole, and this is a global trend.

TNY: Either Megan has become a bit rusty or racism has become so much the norm in general that Faux News needs to step it up a bit to keep on top. Either way, Megan’s best years are behind her.

    CArtoon: Sadly still so true.

  9. Puzzle — 6:35  I don’t recommend eating that Puddy Tat!  You did remember to put some of that dog into the freezer . . . right?

CNN — Pure bullshit!!!  My understanding is that there are limited options to changing the constitution . . . and executive order is not one of them.

One of the commentators said that Diaper Don is playing to his base to rile them up before the midterms, to which I very much agree.  I am reading Bob Woodward’s book ‘Fear’ at present.  I read earlier today about how DD feels strongly about playing to his base, about keeping them happy.  Gee, and I always thought he had a responsibility to all Americans.  Silly me!

One thing that scares me is that a mayor here in Metro Vancouver is talking about the same thing

Vox — “asymmetrical polarisation” where both parties have moved to the right, but only one has moved to the extreme.  Sounds correct.  Republicans are the American version of ISIS.

The New Yorker — I read that NBC is digging in its heals and does not want to payout her contract (2 years income).  Apparently, the ‘blackface’ comment was just the most recent issue.  In any event, she cannot be gone soon enough.  She’ll never work again in the news and entertainment field.  Maybe she should rethink her law career.

Cartoon — It is always the same with Republicans . . . sick bastards!

Good news — I had my quarterly blood tests done and received the results today — They are down almost 2 full points and my insulin was cut.  If I continue this way, more medication will be cut.  Plus, my blood pressure is down and my medication has been cut in half.  Now if I could get Winnie (one of my cats) off insulin, it would be great!

    • Very good tidings about your health, Lynn. Congrats!

    • Congrats on the great news from the medical front!

      Well, at least for you.

    • Kudos to you Squatch.  How many units a day now? 04

      • 35 units once a day in the evening.  I asked if I was still on his shit list to which he said only one foot on.  If I keep this up, I will be off next quarter.

My BP was 106 over 60 which has been consistent the last 3 months (124/73; 108/70).  I have been lightheaded frequently which prompted the cut.  Also, I have lost about 18.2 -22.7 kilos (40-50 lbs) in the last 3-6 months which will partially account for the BP change.

To say the least, I was a happy camper yesterday!

    • Always glad to hear when meds are cut appropriately (as opposed to arbitrarily).  Good for you!

  10. Thanks all.  Time to rest up for chores with WWWendy.  17
