Short Takes:

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Transgender activists and allies rally against Trump administration’s attempt to erase trans people

Republicans hating transgenders is so hypocritical. It’s really transhumans hating transgenders. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Alternet: On Monday, in a victory for voting rights, a GOP law in New Hampshire that threatened to suppress turnout in November’s elections was struck down by a state judge.

Senate Bill 3, which was signed into law by Republican Gov. Chris Sununu last year, would have required New Hampshire voters to provide documentation proving they are "domiciled" in the town where they are voting if they register to vote within 30 days of the election. Those who fail to provide the documentation would have still been able to vote, but would have to give a signature of attestation and submit the documents in the following weeks, or face investigation at their place of residence and possible penalties for voter fraud.

Voting rights groups say the bill’s requirements were confusing, would increase lines at polling places, and make it impossible for the homeless to vote.

Hillsborough Superior Court Judge Kenneth Brown agreed, in his ruling for the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire, who filed a lawsuit along with multiple New Hampshire residents who were struggling to register to vote.

Kudos to the Judge. It’s too bad that ruling is the exception, not the rule. RESIST!!  VOTE BLUE!!

From TPM: A Florida man is accused of groping a female passenger while on a flight Sunday from Houston to Albuquerque and later telling authorities that the president of the United States says it’s OK to grab women by their private parts.

Bruce Michael Alexander, 49, of Tampa made his initial appearance in federal court Monday in Albuquerque on a charge of abusive sexual contact. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman told authorities the man behind her touched her twice and that she told him to stop and asked to change seats.  [emphasis added]

After the Republican Reich helps Alexander beat the rap, he’ll be going to work in the White House. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 5:48 I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, but each word of the scientific name is also an opera.

OK, I have bragging rights. I managed to explain white privilege to someone well enough that all he/she could say was “Ok. I understand that explanation of it completely. Thank you.”

YT/MM – I’ve been commenting, more or less, on petitions I’ve been signing that it’s bad enough when they tell humans what they can and can’t do, but now they’ve gone too far, trying to tell God what He can and can’t do. News flash: If God wants to allow people of one gender to be born into bodies of the other gentder, then He will. And you can’t stop it.

AlterNet – Kudos also to the League of Women Voters. I love those gals.

TPM – I hate to break it to Mr. Alexander (/S), but he did NOT say “It’s OK.” What he said was, “If you’re a star, they let you.” What exactly is Mr. Alexander a star of?

Cartoon – Then and a few more times, and another one coming soon to a stock market near you.

Great quote about the Laxalt family in Nevada trashing their relative who is running for governor there:
“Usually blood is thicker than water. This guy’s middle name must be Warfarin {cue rimshot}. Thank you! I’ll be here all week.” – Andy Lemieux

  2. MM: So glad to see them getting out protesting. They are the most loving, sweetest folks, imho.

AN: Kudos to Superior Court Judge Kenneth Brown for striking down SB3, for a win for the voters! Hope Ms. Kelly wins vs. Sununu too!
TPM: Gawd, you’d think this guy would have known better. What an A$$ !!

Cartoon: Sadly…they’d do it again if they could get away with it.

Congrats to you, Wendy and Vivian on your wins this week. Glad that you got your rest too. Sometimes we need to do that. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
It’s cold here, and the remnants of Hurricane Willa will be coming in tomorrow, bringing more buckets of rain, over an already flooded area. Yep, it’s either droughts or floods in Texas…Right now, Austin is on a citywide ‘boil water notice’. This next storm coming in, isn’t going to help with this either.. https://www.npr.org/2018/10/22/659481146/austin-issues-city-wide-boil-water-notice

*This just in: “Don’t blame Trump. He did everything he could to prove he was unfit to be the President of the United States.” ~ Anon ~

  3. MM: Gee… Trump after the trans-people. What a dumb idea. Coming from (Trump) as a 5 year old still wearing diapers. What do you expect. Glad that there are many people out protesting Trump.

Alternet/Senate Bill 3: League of Women Voters:  NH ‘Voter Suppression’ Law Rejected Ahead Of ElectionA New Hampshire judge struck down a new law with stricter voter residency requirements after a challenge by the League of Women Voters. Great going from the League of Women Voters.

TPM: Bruce Michael Alexander, 49. Is he really that dumb!

Cartoon: USA cannot afford another crash. Not with Trump & his GOP minions running this country to the ground all the while enabling Bitch McConnell and their billionaires (Koch Bros.).

    .

  4. MM Rocks!  The anxious, terrified, up-tight religious right, and just plain right, can not think in a reasoned way about issues that are not black and white.  Wait, they can not think under any circumstances.  “Different” scares the crap out of them.
    Alternet: Good news!
TPM: Orange Dumb, and Bruce Dumber?
‘Toon: Oh, the wonderful days of no regulation!

  5. MM: Good to bring attention to this. Trying to (administratively) erase transgenders is one of those things Drumpf/GOP is doing when everyone else is looking elsewhere  with all the diversions created by tweets and SCOTUS appointments.

Alternet. Good news; Republicans hopefully won’t have time to appeal the decision, and ignore it while it’s judged on its merrits in a higher circle.

TPM: Are Drumpf voters really so dumb that they think they can get away with a line like that? Nah, this is actually rather smart: hiding behind the president of the US and having him take part of the blame. Not that it will work, though. Even the judge won’t be that stupid.

Cartoon: Guess what Drumpf is trying to do right now.

  6. Seems as if there is always some group getting picked on. What sorts of people are currently in the closet still?

  7. MMC: What is the heck is wrong with the idiot tRump? Why is it that he has to keep picking on people who don’t bother him? He sure is full of so much hate. Glad these people are standing up against him. I will sign petitions to help.Alternet: Bravo to both Superior Court Judge Kenneth Brown and the League of Women Voters.TPM: Yelp sure sounds like a dumba*s tRump supporter. Nice to see that this idiot only proves our point, that the idiot in office only teaches pure evilness.Wow…congratulations to you, Wendy and Vivian on your fantasy game wins.

  8. Thanks, pooped hugs, and amen! 19
