Grassley and the Pervert

How many of you can remember, by name, sixty five members of the opposite sex, who you knew when you were in High School, but who did not attend the same same high school you did?  If you needed a document by tomorrow morning, how many of you could locate all 65, contact them, and secure their signatures on a highly controversial document?  How many of you could get that document into the treacherous disingenuous claws of Chuck “Snake in the” Grassley [R-IA] on time?  Republicans want you to believe that you could.

0916Kavanaugh

Sixty-five women who knew Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in high school have testified to his good character in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee, in light of recently surfaced allegations that he tried to force himself on a girl during his time at Georgetown Preparatory School, an all-boys school in Bethesda, Maryland.

According to the allegations, detailed to congressional Democrats and reported by the New Yorker, Kavanaugh held down a girl at a high school party in the 1980s and attempted to force himself on her, covering her mouth to quiet her protests. Kavanaugh denied the allegations in a statement to the New Yorker, as did a classmate who was reportedly involved in the incident.

On Friday, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released a letter written by 65 women who mostly attended all-girls high schools around Georgetown Prep and have known Kavanaugh for more than three decades, in defense of his character. The women write:

We are women who have known Brett Kavanaugh for more than 35 years and knew him while he attended high school between 1979 and 1983. For the entire time we have known Brett Kavanaugh, he has behaved honorably and treated women with respect. We strongly believe it is important to convey this information to the Committee at this time.

CNN covered the story as well, without pointing out how absurdly remarkable it is.

In my opinion, the Republican  Reich discovered Pervert Kava-Nazi’s crime when they were vetting him, and when they couldn’t talk their Fuhrer out of appointing another pervert to SCROTUS (Republican Unconstitutional VD), they prepared a cover-up in advance, as Joan McCarter said on Daily Kos:

…Clearly, they knew this was coming and they’ve known for quite a while—long enough to round up three dozen women willing to sign onto a draft of a letter responding to allegations that had not yet been made, to say that he didn’t try to rape them. Might that not have raised a few questions for these women? Our own Adam Bonin makes a good point: “It strikes me that there are likely women out there who were approached to sign this letter, and chose not to. If nothing else, those women could tell us exactly how long this draft letter has been circulating.”

It would be helpful to hear from those women who didn’t sign on to the letter. It would also be helpful for Kavanaugh and Grassley to come clean about how long this has been in the works, and what other skeletons of Kavanaugh’s Grassley has prepared for…

The more we don’t know, the more we know that the entire Republican Reich, not just Trump and Kava-Nazi, are trying to deceive you all.

  1. Oh Wow! Kavanazi accuser changes mind on anonymity! I see you saw that too.

I suppose I should have some sympathy for people who are obviously beng heavily blackmailed and fear for themselves and maybe even for their families (assuming they have that much empathy, which is questionable), and who are clearly shitting concrete blocks. But I can’t. They have hurt too many people to badly and without conscience.

  2. Yes, I read that this woman has come forward. It must be very painful for her right now. I can’t remember 5 students I went to school with, let alone 65. I smell a rat though. Grassley and the party lying and covering up for Kava, to push him through. ugh!

*Joanne: Karma is such a wonderful lady!!

  3. I’m with you.  This doesn’t pass the “Smell Test”.  Something is fishy here.

And Sen. Flake might just pull a rabbit out of the hat yet. Like Democrats, he has urged to hold off on the scheduled Thursday vote until Ms. Ford is heard.

And he’s on the Judiciary Committee – so that vote could switch from 11-10 for to 11-10 “hold-on-a-minute-here”.

  4. All I see is a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California, a career woman, with the guts to stand up for what she believes in, risk her career and normal, anonymous life with little chance of it coming to anything but her ruin. Republicans saw her coming (so it must be in those papers they still haven’t declassified) and they’ve prepared. The time line clearly says so, but that doesn’t bother them, or their base, in the least. Kavanaugh must be appointed, if it’s the last thing they do.

It is up to you to make it the last thing they do indeed!

  5. Grassley and company are the problem related to which Dumpy is the symptom!!

  6. And already one republican has spoken up to delay the confirmation!!! ?

“Sen Jeff Flake is urging the Judiciary committee not to vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation until it hears from a woman who has accused him of a sexual assault while they were in high school.”

  7. This morning I see that Diaper Don Junior has joined the fray by accusing the Democrats of organising the rape allegation and a letter.  This from CBS News.

“Trump Jr. posted a meme on Instagram Monday with the caption “Judge Kavanaugh sexual assault letter found by Dems…” The photo attached shows a crumpled-up piece of notebook paper with a scribbled message: “Hi Cindy will you be my girlfriend, Love Bret.” The note, which has boxes to check for “yes” or “no,” seemingly compares Kavanaugh’s accuser to a school yard crush.

Trump Jr. went on, writing, “Oh boy…the Dems and their usual nonsense games really have him on the ropes now.” He added, “Finestein [sic] had the letter in July and saved it for the eve of his vote… honorable as always. I believe this is a copy for full transparency.””

And some of the headlines from AlterNet should indicate where things are headed from the Republican viewpoint.

“Trump — A Birther — Is Telling Confidantes He Believes There’s a Democrat-Led ‘Conspiracy’ to Derail Kavanaugh Confirmation

GOP Senator Demands to Know Why Democrats Didn’t Violate an Alleged Sexual Assault Survivor’s Privacy

Senate Republicans Pump the Brakes on Supreme Court Vote As Trump Prepares to Go After Kavanaugh’s Accuser “

I applaud Christine Ford for coming forward and wish her strength against the Republican onslaught to assail her character.

    As you said Puddy Tat,

“In my opinion, the Republican  Reich discovered Pervert Kava-Nazi’s crime when they were vetting him, and when they couldn’t talk their Fuhrer out of appointing another pervert to SCROTUS (Republican Unconstitutional VD), they prepared a cover-up in advance, …”

And what about those 40,000 or so pages of documents from Kavanazi’s file that Grassley would not share with the Democrats on the Judicial committee? What’s in those, Chuckie?

Limburger cheese does not stink to high heaven as much as Republican actions in Kavanazi’s confirmation  vetting and hearing.  Is this why Kavanazi keeps parading his daughters out . . . to show his family values?

It is interesting to note, IMO, that Susan Collins did not say a delay is in order, but rather she wants to “discuss the situation with her colleagues”.  That tells me a great deal about Collins — she does not represent her constituents but the Republican party.

    The vote MUST be delayed!

  8. 65 women attesting his “good character” is a HOOT!
I do not believe them. Another outright LIE!
    sigh…
    .

    • I think you can believe the fifty or so of them who have already recanted their signatures, though.  Not the original signing, I mean, but the recantation.

      • I tried to find confirmation of that.  Can you help? 35

        • Doing the math, out ot 65, they reached about 38.  Only two stood by the letter.  (Another two refused to comment).  So 50 was too much – I was going from memory.  But the results were still impressive (not in a good way for Kavanazi.)

Other interesting facts and some speculations (like, when was the letter done, and who organized it) are HERE.
          And one more story HERE.
          And then there’s THIS.
Credibility really shouldn’t be JUST about numbers, but, it it is ….

          • Unfortunately, none say any “recanted”. 02

            • “Say that one no longer holds an opinion or a belief.” They’ve now reached more, and have a total of five who have said that, yes, they will stand behind the letter. The other will not say that. If you don’t like “recant” I’ll settle for “withdraw.”

  9. I have more coming in today’s lead.  Hugs! 10
