It’s relatively cool here in the CatBox with a high around 80°, but the humidity is 70%.  The sun hit the wall a few minutes ago, so I had to fire up the AC.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos will be entertaining the evil Seachickens, so I’ll be glued to the TV.  May the Orb shine its holy light on your team, unless they are Chicken of the Sea.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:24).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): What? 10 Years Old Already?? Thank You For Watching!

I have been watching, since the beginning, and thank God for Rachel! She has done more to deepen my understanding of issues than any other commentator. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Salon.com:

There’s been a flood of disturbing, formerly secret emails surfacing to and from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, but one of these is not like the others:

If he is confirmed, the third item is grounds for impeachment, when Democrats have both House and Senate. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Trump demanded on Friday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions investigate who put a sign reading “Entering Crazytown, U.S.A.” on the door to the Oval Office.

Trump reportedly noticed the sign for the first time Friday morning, and became enraged after asking Kellyanne Conway, the counsellor to the President, to read what it said to him.

According to White House insiders, determining the creator of the sign could prove difficult, because between seventy and a hundred White House staffers have been known to use the word “Crazytown” to describe their work environment.

Dang Andy! Can you tell us who was stupid enough to tell Trump what the sign said? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

No more pardons for Republican Residents!

  1. 5:47 I doubt that critters hang out in ivy much – if indeed that is ivy (it doesn’t much look like it.)

Well, now. Bernie has come up with a tax bill which should really separate the goats from the wolves! Corporations with more than 500 employees would have to pay, in addition to whatever their reguar tax is, the cast of any Federal assistance their employees are receiving, without deduction. No more corporate welfare for big companies! Smaller ones can come later.

MSNBC – So she got started about the time of Obama’s presidency. Wow. She really is te best at explaining things, which is why some people with short attention spans (and also some who have no truble jumping to conclusions) get impatient with her. I love it, as do you, TC. Long may she reign.

Salon – A criminal complaint is being filed NOW. Based on the district in which it is being filed, it will go first to – wait for it – Merrick Garland. (As a man of integrity, he is likely to recuse, but the karma is still delicious.)

    TNY – Straight news.

Cartoon – I remember. I was still on active duty.

  2. MSNBC: 10 years already! How wonderful she is!! I love her style of explaining, and Dr. Maddow has done well on the news, and has a large following. Congratulations, Rachel, and here’s to many more years!!

Salon: What a liar he is, NO to KavaNope!!! Thanks, Joanne, for the heads up. Good to know. thx!

NYer: Yea, it is up there, for sure. Did you see this, re: #plaidshirtguy? It’s hilarious, he was at Trump’s rally in Montana, ….here’s the link: “People are loving this guy in a plaid shirt who made faces during a Trump rally”

Cartoon: Ditto, JD. So was I.

We play NE @noon. Best to your team too! Hope that you have a good evening, take care, Thanks, Tom.

    • Kudos to the Plaid Guy! Young progressives and especially people from minority groups should try and infiltrate all of Drumpf’s rallies, try to get behind him in camera view like that and do exactly like he did. It’s all showbiz PR, so looking like the token Drumpf supporter from any of the groups that won’t vote for him, will get them in an attention spot.

  3. We need to oppose the Kavanut nomination with everything we have! Contact your Senators daily, regardless of where they stand. Also, make sure you are registered to vote, make sure all your progressive kith and kin 18 and up are, do your homework on candidates, and cast an informed vote in November. This may be the last chance to turn this country around before we reach the point of no return.

  4. Congrats Rachel Maddow! Wishing you at least 10 more!!

  5. Rachel Maddow:

Best investigative news reporting around. Keep it up, Rachel and MSNBC!

Salon: Joanne already mentioned a criminal complaint for perjury has already been filed against Kavanaugh. It makes me wonder if Republican senators on the committee can be impeached for deliberately withholding evidence (the thousands of e-mails they denied the Democrats) en thus covering up Kavanaugh’s perjury, among other?

TNY: Drumpf really has dementia, hasn’t he. That sign has been hanging there for weeks and every day he has to ask Kelly-Ann to read it to him because he’s already forgotten again what it said. And that his staff had promised him to remove it ???

Cartoon: If Pence takes over from Drumpf, pardoning him will be the first thing he’ll do to keep Drumpf’s base appeased.

  6. Puzzle — 3:49  Don’t eat the ivy Puddy Tat!  It is toxic to Puddy Tats.

MSNBC — Congratulations Rachel Maddow!!!  None better!

Salon — There appears to be enough perjury in Kavanaugh’s background to sink a battleship!  If he is confirmed, impeachment is in order.  How did he make it through previous confirmation hearings?  If it comes to impeachment, who impeaches him — the Senate or the Supreme Court?  I assume it would be a 2/3s vote either way?  Based on these numbers, he is not likely to be impeached unless Democrats can turn some Republicans or the more liberal justices can turn one of the conservative judges.  I noticed he walked into the hearing holding the hand of his youngest daughter followed by his other daughter and his wife.  I wonder if that is a reminder to himself to keep things civil, or a PR move.  He’s another deplorable.  Kavanazi is such an appropriate name for him.

The New Yorker — If only!!!  It would enrage him . . . maybe to the point of blowing a gasket.  But quite frankly, it seems like more straight reporting.

Cartoon — Fast forward 44 years and, as Lona points out, Pence will do the same thing, pardon Diaper Don.

  7. Thanks all.  Hurried Hugs! 26
