It’s the last day in the heat wave, and should only reach the mid 80°s, but the humidity is 68%. My streaming Prime Video is acting up, so I’m trying to do all my blogging in the morning to leave the afternoon free for a phone appointment from tech support.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: How You Can Stop Trump’s Lie Machine

Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. Until I saw the end, I thought that to boycott Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, advertisers, you need to watch it to list them. PHEW!! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Millions of Americans were startled by the revelation on Wednesday afternoon that there was someone working in the Trump White House capable of writing an entire editorial, reports indicate.

In a nation already rocked by a series of bombshells since Labor Day, the news that an anonymous senior White House official had the command of the English language necessary to compose a seemingly coherent Op-Ed piece suitable for publication in a major newspaper was perhaps the most improbable development of all.

Davis Logsdon, a professor of linguistics at the University of Minnesota, said that a team of language experts under his supervision has studied the Op-Ed word by word and is “in a state of disbelief” that someone currently working for Donald J. Trump could have written it.

“There are complete sentences, there are well-structured paragraphs, there is subject-verb agreement,” he said. “This does not appear to be the work of any White House staffer we’re familiar with.”

Andy does have a point. The Times must have faked it. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Nation of Change: Found guilty on 15 counts, including conspiracy, fraud, and money laundering, former Arkansas State Senator Jonathan Woods was sentenced Wednesday to serve more than 18 years in federal prison. In addition, U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks sentenced Woods to serve three years of supervised release and ordered him to pay over $1.6 million in restitution.

While serving as Arkansas state senator from 2013 to 2015, Woods and other Arkansas legislators, including former State Representative Micah Neal, accepted bribes from officials at nonprofit entities in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars in government grants. According to the evidence presented at trial, Ecclesia College’s former president, Oren Paris III, also bribed Woods by hiring Woods’s friend to an administrative position at the college.

May Woods be a trailblazer for all Republican politicians. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. RR: ‘Defend the Truth’, great video, passing on…

    NYer: Hilarious, lol, Andy!

NoC: One down, hefty sentence too! Two to go. WOW!!!

Cartoon: Held at the ‘Million Dollar Pier at Atlantic City, NJ. Margaret Gorman declared winner. *wiki

Rained hard here this morning, so glad to see everything turn green again. Good luck with tech support too, on your end. Hope you have a good rest of your day/evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. 5:27 Probably looks nice and cool to you. The temperature has dropped below 80 here and I am shivering in a jacket. It is supposed to warm up again to the low eighties next week.

It has occurred to me that maybe we are taking the wrong route on Kavanazi. We have been, as we have been forever, trying to talk to bought Senators to influence their votes. In this case perhaps we should have been talking to the donors from whom they take their orders and reminding them that the mood of the nation is now such that if they continue to support a nominee as easily impeachable as this, they are simply throwing good money after bad, and setting themselves up to waste even more money, unless they abandon him.

If you are missing being able to turn to Friday Fun today, here are some links to stories which are nowhere near as good, but any one of which might give you at least a smile.
    Sarah Fail
    Righteous Actor
    Obama speech

Robert – No, no. I’ve had this shortcutted on my desktop for months. It’s updated frequently. I even made a special icon for it so i can find it fast.

    TNY – LOL !!

    NoC – How nice.

    Cartoon – Yup.

  3. Reich: I believe that I barely buy from any of these advertisers.  My guess is that if Twitter has not shut him down by now, it’s not going to happen.
New Yorker: Certainly not written by the Secretary of Education, the certainty being a sad one. At FauxNews, senate the gym, earlier, “W.H. has a list of 12 suspects,” who might have written the op-ed.  That’s news?  What turmoil this piece has caused, is causing in Dumpy’s front yard, we would be very glad to learn!  He had to run, now he’s splattered all over history as inept, amoral, and idiot (I told that guy in the men’s group I facilitate, 2 years ago).
NoC: From the God-fearing, RED state of Arkansas?  How can that be?  Must be fake news!
‘Toon: How wonderful to have been in the contest before the Chief groper was even born!

  4. Great advice as usual from Robert Reich, i have never watched Faux News & no twitter!
i really enjoyed listening to President Obama, TY Joanne for the link.
    68% humidity = sauna!!! YUK! ?

  5. OK, no more business for Office Depot for a while.

  6. Puzzle — 4:06  No fishies in that lake Puddy Tat!  Nessie cleaned them out when it took a day trip to Loch Lomond!

Robert Reich — AMEN!!!  I am not sure who the president of the US is any more . . . Diaper Don or Sean Hannity!  I don’t watch Faux Noise, I am not on Twitter, I don’t have a senator or rep (I am a proud Canadian) but I can boycott those companies that operate in Canada or send their products here.  Just like Santa Claus, I am making a list and checking it twice!

The New Yorker — LMAO Andy!!!  It is a known fact that managers often hire people that are like them (cookie cutter) rather than people that have strengths or skills that are not the same.  That said, does that description fit a Diaper Don staffer?

Nation of Change — Oh how the mighty have fallen . . . mighty and untouchable in his own mind!  May all Republicans fall down the same rabbit hole!!!

Cartoon — I have never been a fan of beauty contests.  Too bad they ever got started!

It rained yesterday and all night.  Finally temperatures have dropped.  It is 17C (63F) with 83% humidity. We are expecting on and off showers for the next 5 days and high temps no more than 20C (68 F).  One might say “back to normal”!

  7. Thanks all.  Tired humid hugs! 23
