It’s a lazy holiday here in the CatBox  and finding the material I did was a struggle.  The next few days will be seasonable so whether and when I have top use the AC will depend on when the sun hits the wall.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:48 (average 4:33).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): EXPLAIN HIS RATIONALE (Parody of) You Can Call Me Al (9/27/2017)

Even then, the Fuhrer’s catalogue of lies was virtually infinite. RESIST!! VOTE!!

From NY Daily News: A valedictorian’s speech that mentioned Marjory Stoneman Douglas students was too political for local officials — so he took it outside.

Christian Bales used a bullhorn to get his message across during the Holy Cross graduation ceremony in Covington on Friday. Christian was outside the auditorium, surrounded by other students, as he made the speech.

Here’s video:

Kudos to Bales! We need more like him. RESIST!! VOTE!!

From Share Blue: According to senior adviser Stephen Miller, the Trump White House has settled on a campaign stoking racism as a desperate ploy to keep Republicans in control of Congress.

Miller made that admission in an interview with Breitbart [Breitfart delinked], the white supremacist website known for highlighting “black crime.” Miller, among the most loyal of Trump’s underlings, once infamously announced that Trump’s power “will not be questioned” and attacked the pro-immigrant message etched on the Statue of Liberty.

Miller explained to Breitbart that lacking any strong, positive message going into the midterm elections, Republicans plan to use the criminal gang MS-13 as a boogeyman to scare up votes.

“The big fight this summer is going to be with the open borders Democratic caucus in Congress,” Miller said, using a lie that Republicans have often used to attack Democrats. There is no such thing as an “open borders” faction in Congress; Republicans like Miller simply use the inflammatory term to attack those who are pro-immigrant.

And the party of hate strikes again. RESIST!! VOTE!!

  1. 5:14 Don’t break a tooth.

MoveOn petition on separations of families

PP – To “mean” and “petty” just add “corrupt” and “evil,” mix well, heat to nuclear temperature, and serve in tin foil hats.

NYDN – Holy Cross High School. Crestview Hills, KY. I can’t find a website specific to Crestview Heights, but it appears the Holy Cross High Schools in Kentucky are diocesan rather than being run bu a particular order. And apparently, the “local officials” who objected were not secular officials, but diocesan officials. So at least we are not dealing with the breakdown of separation of church and state. Just with the breakdown of the Catholic Church as a Christian institution. Well, isn’t THAT a relief! /S

Share Blue – Dear God, please let this backfire big time. Please speak to the hearts of all those who actually love you (and not supply-side Republican Jeebus) and fill them with passion to eradicate racism (or colorism – more accurate, since there is only one race – the HUMAN race.)

Cartoon – Yeah, no doubt. Nice looking Marines there.

And here’s the one I should have used yesterday, although it’s just as true today.

    RESIST AND PERSIST !!!

  2. Not to get too nit-picky, but actually the death benefits paid to survivors is quite substantial.

    Typically $100,000.

    https://www.military.com/benefits/survivor-benefits/death-gratuity.html

And can go as high as $800,000+.

    • Just saw the news; congratulations on getting rid of your governor.  Hope the next one isn’t even worse (hard to imagine, but with Republicans, anything is possible.)

  3. PP: Well done, and sung!!

NYDN: Kudos to this young man for speaking UP and OUT!! WTG!! Like Nita said, young people give me Hope!!

SB: Can’t stand him, nor his hate, and nazi rhetoric. What a cad.

    Cartoon: The Final Salute.
*Joanne, (personally)…a Marine in full dress uniform has always made me swoon.

Company still here, some napping, some outside under the sprinkler. Good family fun. Hope that you have a good rest of your day/evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    • Me? I do a combo and nap under the sprinkler!

Sounds like your family definitely had a very enjoyable Memorial Day together.

      • It’s turning into a annual family affair, and I love it. Big back yard, and plenty of trees/shade.
The little ones enjoyed the sprinkler, but the (old) folks grabbed 40 winks, and then went back outside. The kids with their parents didn’t care it was hot…and enjoyed themselves.
All told, it’s wonderful, with great and precious memories.
Hope all is good with you, Thanks, Nameless. 1822

  4. NYDN: Are those officials who tried to silence Bales mad because he dared to think for himself, because he encouraged his fellow students to stand up for themselves and question authority? When people dare do this, the authority of the Church lessens.

SB: In Georgia, Michael Williams, a GOP gubernatorial candidate, ran an ad in which he boasted that he would use “deportation” buses to round up all immigrants -i.e., Hispanics/Latinos. His ad was so nasty, it got removed from YouTube. From what I hear he came in dead last.

Cartoon: Good point, Sol – the families do get death benefits. But how much are they in contrast to what a surviving solider would get, provided the VA actually could do its job?

  5. Petition signed;
    56,270 signatures.
    BRAVO Christian Bales!

  6. PP: Excellent and not mean and petty at all. Too bad nobody took the advise to disregard Drumpf then.

NYDN: Kudos to Christian Bales for not letting himself be silenced and share his message of hope outside.

SB: Steve Bannon may be gone from the White House, but Stephen NazisMiller took over seamlessly and Breitbart is still pulling the strings. Nazis or Neo-Nazis, what’s the bloody difference anyway, are stoking up the racist fires again and the GOP welcomes it because they can blame the Drumpf administration for it while in fact it is the core of Republican thinking. With Drumpf, Pompeio, Bolton and Miller at the helm America, and the rest of the world, is headed straight for disaster.

  7. Puzzle — 3:39  I’m not even worried about you getting this dawg because its taste and texture will give you, at the very least, a severe case of indigestion.

Parody Project — Drumpf isn’t mean and petty.  Just ask him.  According to him, he is the next best thing to white bread.  But he is lying.  He thinks he is better than white bread!  Drumpf is pure evil imo.

NY Daily News — I hear nothing controversial in what young Bales said.  What I hear is truth and encouragement to today’s youth.  Thinking for themselves — isn’t that what school should be teaching . . . critical thinking skills that transcend individual subject matters.  Kudos!!!

Share Blue — “And the party of hate strikes again.” AGAIN?  I think you mean STILL!!!  It confounds me!  Racism exists everywhere, but in the US it seems especially prevalent.  Not only that, the US régime, which should be supporting the constitution, supports policies of division and discrimination.  To blame it all on ancestors who promoted slavery is bogus.  The Arabs took slaves from Africa long before the Europeans.  And Europeans don’t have the same issues.  I am not saying that other countries, Canada included, don’t have struggles with racism.  But it seems so much bigger in the US.  What has kept racism so much a part of the American image?  Please don’t misunderstand me . . . there are some wonderful people in the US (most), but there are some real wankers like Drumpf, Pence, Bolton and the rest of the Republican Reich and Drumpf’s rabid supporters too.

Cartoon — So this is what Republicans mean by being fiscally responsible? . . . that and dining tables that cost $31K?

  8. Thanks all.  Tired Hugs! 19
