It’s a relatively cool day here in the CatBox.  I slept poorly last night as there was a kitchen fire on the floor.  By the time I rousted, dressed, popped on George, and prepared myself to be evacuated, the FD had arrived, and it was out.  I returned to bed wide awake with elevated adrenalin.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:09 (average 5:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Inequality Media Channel): Turnout is Everything

The Reich on the left is right! RESIST!! VOTE!!

From YouTube (Full Frontal Channel): Real or Fake: #BeeBest Edition

The one that misspelled garbage may have been Trump. RESIST!! VOTE!!

From Politico: Devin Nunes, the California congressman whose allegiance to Donald Trump has made him public enemy number one to many Democrats, is beginning to feel the heat back home.

His little-known challenger is awash in cash from across the country as a result of Nunes’ polarizing role in the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. An independent expenditure campaign has posted hostile billboards along Highway 99, the heavily traveled main road through Nunes’ Central Valley district.

On Wednesday, a report in the Fresno Bee linked Nunes to a winery that allegedly held a wild cocaine-and-prostitutes evening yacht cruise — a winery where the congressman is a part-owner.

It all makes sense now. Nunes keeps his nose buried in Trump’s butt crack in the hope that Putin’s Pervert can get a few Russian hookers for Nunes’ cocaine and sex cruises.  RESIST!! VOTE!!

  1. 4:28 Here’s a thought: forget the dog, grab the wet towel and cool off!

Reich – OF COURSE he is right. So one thing our analysis should address is: which groups, if they support you, increase turnout through their community? The Republicans alread have that figured out on their side: tin-foil-hat wearers. I respectfully submit that, on our side, one (not the only one) is minority women. That doesn’t mean, of course, that we need all minority women candidates. It does mean we should seek information on issues important to them and address those issues – loudly.

Sam – The one who complained about the whiny throat should hear me!

Politico – This seat would be an easy pickup were it not for California’s jungle primary system. I sure hope that doesn’t screw the pooch.

Cartoon – As awful as Johnson was, I’m not really sure a conviction would have been justified. On Nixon, it most assuredly would have been justified, but didn’t happen. You know, a book on impeachment (and the absence thereof) in United States history could make for a very fetching read. John Tyler certainly should have been impeached, but circumstances intervened. Come to think of it, that would have been a great time, person, and place to set a precedent for indicting a sitting President for treason. Sure too bad they didn’t.

  2. I for one am looking forward to Nunes going down in flames come November.

  3. IMC: Yes, Sir, very very important!!! VOTE!!!

FF: Love Sam! “What a piece of garage” lol

Politico: Read that this morning. Excellent piece re: Nunes. Another sycophant, or as I like to call them, brownnoser(s).

Cartoon: What you said, Tom. NOW!!!

It’s hot here. Another fire?? That’s not good..imho. Hope that you get some rest, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Reich – A quiet video. Short, simple and right to the point!
    Only ONE minute long!
    Have a look.
    .

  5. It’s been a long time since I lived in an apartment, but you seen to have a lot of fires in your building.

    • They seem to be kitchen fires, i.e. tenant-genic.  Also the building is apparently old, if they are going to move everyone out and remodel it.  Not being there, I can’t assess how their management style is working   But, yes, it seems like a lot to me too, thought it’s a good thing they are small and no one gets physically injured (not much anyone can do about adrenalin.)

  6. There’s an old English expression (wrongly attributed to the Chinese as a curse) that seems to suit you on a regular basis:

“May you live in interesting times.”

  7. Puzzle — 4:08  I’ll let you have the wet towel, but the pup is all mine!

Inequality Media — AMEN!!!  Get out the vote!!!  If the thought of more Republican cow pucky and more service to Drumpf makes you ill, then do something about it!  Vote the bastards out!!!

Politico — Nunes is likely to have a rough time during the mid terms.  One constituent, presumably a doctor based on his words, wrote in the Fresno Bee according to AlterNet

“Nunes is attempting to undermine the rule of law in this country,” MacMillan wrote. “Mr. Nunes would rather serve a carnival con man whose ignorance and corruption surpasses the Harding Administration and Teapot Dome Scandal of the 1920s.”

Meanwhile, the letter accuses Nunes of avoiding the real problems of his constituents in the 22 district: “I see patients every day that need Mr. Nunes to fight for their health care.”

He continued: “Mr. Nunes is the swamp. He epitomizes everything that Americans dislike about our government and its corrupted ways.”

Nunes should take the good doctor’s advice and resign, but he won’t.  He is too caught up in his own importance and power.  One would think that the stink of having his head all the way up Drumpf’s ass would be enough to turn him off!

Cartoon — May Drumpf find himself being impeached and found guilty!!!

I hope you were able to get some sleep today.  I had a nap but I am going down now.  At least I am rid of the republicosis!!!

  8. IM: Nobody tells it better than Robert Reich, even without words. Go out and vote, Democrats. (And please stay home, Republicans & Drumpfians)

Sam ?: So sad that all the funny ones are fake and the gross and despicable ones are real. This short clip once again proves that Drumpfians have no sense of humor, delusional, and can’t spell.

Politico: Usually I’d like to know more about Nunes’ “little-known challenger”, Democrat Janz, before encouraging everyone in the Central Valley to go out and vote for Janz, but we’re talking about one of the most despicable Republicans after McConnell and Ryan here, so: Go, Janz. GO! ?
The state of California just can’t afford the disgrace of having someone like Nunes representing them in the House.

I hope you get a good night’s rest tonight, TomCat. With the frequency of kitchen fires increasing, the partying outside your window and your room’s impersonations of an oven, having to move soon may still not be something to look forward too, but perhaps a little less off-putting these days.

  9. Yikes, TC a fire!!i would have over worked adrenals too!!

  10. Thanks all.  Hugs. 29

Please see today’s Open Thread for an explanation of the fires.
