I must have been overtired, because I overslept this morning.  My body is still on standard time.  I’m not too far behind, because I’m working through my morning break and will not stop until lunch time.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 5:15).  To do it, click here. How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): President Donald Trump Signs $1.3 Trillion Spending Bill After Veto Threat

We got a lot more, including sanctions against Russia, and gave up a lot less than I expected.  Republicans blocked every Democratic amendment to include Dreamers.  If the Fuhrer gives a damn about DACA, all he has to do is rescind his own executive order shutting it down. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Vox Channel): How the NRA hijacks gun control debates

This may be the best primer on NRA Ammosexual lies that I’ve seen. Support the demonstrations! Watch live: March for Our Lives RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Millions of Americans would gladly work for Robert Mueller for free if that would help speed things up, a new poll finds.

According to the survey, a substantial number of Americans would leave their jobs, their homes, and even their families to join the special counsel’s team if doing so would help bring this nightmare to a swifter conclusion.

A spokesperson for the special counsel confirmed that his office has been receiving thousands of résumés a day from Americans begging to do anything to help Mueller “move things along.”

Dang Andy! Count me in!! RESIST!!

  1. 4:21 Appropriate.

Let me just throuw in that I saw something in an email last night which sugggested John BOlton might decline “the honor.” It appears that was merely someone’s wishful thinking. There is some doubt that he can get a security clearance, but we all know how much that means in the Trump regime.

Not from VoteVets, but from Veterans for Gun Reform.

MSNBC – I figured something of the kind when I read about Ann Coulter’s meltdoen about it.

Vox – I was looking up the falsehoods about dictators taking guns away from people in history … what I didn’t realize was that there was some taking away of guns, but ONLY guns owned by “TARGET POPULATIONS.” Well, my God, we have that already on a de facto base=is! If you are brown or black or LGBT or whatever, you need superhuman guts to own a gun, because you are so likely to get shot for just having it. While they are slamming us for “identity politics,” they are trying to cover up the thesis that pretty much everything DOES come down to racism.

TNY – It sounds so real. But if it were, the thousands of resumes submitted would do nothing but DELAY the investigation. I’d work too – but if Mueller wants me he knows where he can find me!

Cartoon – Was Rex already in charge then? Or is he too young?

  2. MSNBC: Glad it’s signed. First he wasn’t going to, then he did. Re: criticizing the bill/paperwork? “Who can read that quickly?” Does he even know what he’s doing? th??

Vox: Money talks, and what’s scary, people who own guns love them, and it’s cause. ugh!

NYer: I’d love to go work for Mr. Mueller! I’d update my resume, get on a plane, and be there in a couple hours. Would I have to wear a dress, and nix my sweatpants? lol.

Cartoon: I remember when this happened. Sad day for the environment/animals, birds, water, coastline. What a disaster !!!

Hope that you have a relaxing evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
*Joanne, I viewed the vid this morning. So glad to see our Vets representing most of us when it comes to the gun issue. Love your pic too!

    • Thanks Pat.  I’m trying to be seasonal, and the 24th is, in the Eastern church, “Lazarus Saturday.”  Not sure I picked the right Lazarus, but I had this pic already.  16

  3. MSNBC: Whatever he does, he laces it with uncertainty and idiocy!  The DACA issue ought to help bring down the GOP, along with the gun control issue, and having put all their lost marbles into the tDump pool of cess.  The Evangelists can NO LONGER claim any moral superiority to anyone, after championing Mr. “List of Offenses Knows No Bottom,” unless one believes in the devil.  Many years ago, the Southern Baptist Convention proclaimed that the Buddhists were “In the thrall of the Devil.”  They, in turn, essentially told the SBC shove off.  Now, we know who is in thrall to whatever “evil lurks in the heart of man.”
Vox: It’s a race to the bottom, between S.H. Sanders, and this POS, and this one may be winning!
New Yorker: Where do I sign on!

  4. Puzzle — 3:54 Salad???

MSNBC — I have to admit to snickering when one panel member brought up the idea of a Democratic controlled Congress after the 2018 mid terms with Drumpf in the WH.  I can just see Drumpf going apoplectic and right off the deep end.  Drumpf is an incompetent buffoon who belongs in a prison cell, not the Oval Office.

Vox — The NRA is a vile organisation.  The Washington Post has an article about an NRA host who taunted Parkland student organisers.

“The latest attack came from Colion Noir, a host on NRATV who took to the airwaves on the eve of the Parkland teens-led March on Washington, telling them: “No one would know your names” if a student gunman hadn’t stormed into their school and killed three staff members and 14 students.”

The New Yorker — Count me in too!  I have a background in fraud investigations, albeit perhaps not at this level.

Cartoon — The Exxon Valdez oil spill and we still have not learned.  25 years later and Prince William Sound still has not recovered completely.

  5. MSNBC: Drumpf is the laziest and most uninformed president by choice in history and then has the gall to criticize a (reasonably, considering the circumstances) bipartisan spending bill that gives him all the money he wants for the terrifying military plans he’s having his advisers come up with these past few days, and use the signing of the bill as yet another campaign moment to ‘golden shower’ the Democrats. While his base eats it all up, the rest of the world is holding its breath and anticipating what he’s gone do with the historic increase in money allotted to the military when he’s just appointed the biggest hawks to be found in the US as his ‘second and third’ in command.

Vox: Excellent video, let’s hope it goes viral among young people and make them refuse to “debate” with the NRA any longer. The NRA should have no voice in the debate, because for them it’s only a way to make a cheap sales-pitch. They try to make Americans afraid the government is going to take their guns away only because they know what really may happen is that the government may take their gun sales away.

TNY: I first thought Andy was repeating himself, but this turned out to be one of his columns from last August. Perhaps Mueller is taking a bit too long, eh?

Cartoon: Yes, (crude) oil is the best instant killer of anything alive at sea there is. But that memory has faded with the general public so Exxon is anxious to demonstrate its effectiveness when they start drilling in the Arctic where they expect even better results.

  6. Signs are pointing towards a Democrat-dominated Congress – especially the House – following the midterm elections. A lot of registered voters now realize how important it is for them to get their arses to the polls. In the notorious Alabama election, lots of black women voted, and from what I have read they were a major factor in Jones’ victory. Democrats are making impressive gains in quite a few states, so we just may get the political bloodbath – er, make that blue-bath – we need to get possibly the last chance of saving our country.
Thanks for finding that video, Joanne.

    • It wasn’t hard, but you’re welcome.  Anything to do with progressive veterans I don’t find, it finds me.  And this one is well worth being repeated in multiple columns.

  7. Thanks all.  Hugs! 35
