Rachel and Hillary

I was quite pleased with Hillary Clinton in her interview with Rachel Maddow last night.  She was the Hillary I had wanted to see the last time I published an article about her.  She was concise and personable.  Most important of all, she tore Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten a third sphincter, in addition to the one in the traditional location and the one under his nose.

Hillary Clinton appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show yesterday and she ripped into Donald Trump.

Clinton is back in the public spotlight this week with the release of her new book, What Happened. While other interviews have focused on her campaign and the election last year, Rachel Maddow wanted to know what Clinton thought about how Trump is doing.

The conversation starts with North Korean missile testing. Clinton said that Trump is being “played” by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. “This missile test[…] is sending a message from Kim Jong Un that he is not deterred,” the former Secretary of State said.

“[Diplomacy] needs to be happening right now. Get over the Twitter stuff,” she added.

Maddow then brought up reports that Trump mocked Attorney General Jeff Sessions so badly that he wrote a resignation letter. Clinton said that Trump “delights” in insulting and humiliating people, and that his understanding of power makes him dangerous…

I am sharing only the first of several clips from Rachel’s show.  If you let the video keep playing after the end, it should play the rest.  Or you can click through, and watch them piecemeal.

Lawrence O’Donnell interviewed Rachel to debrief her about her interview with Hillary.

Rachel said Clinton was a different person.  I agree.  I prefer this Hillary Clinton.

  1. She brings words of wisdom, and experience to the table. Very calm, and concise in taking (proposed) actions. Well done, Ms. Clinton!

  2. Of course, this should be President Clinton!

  3. I have no diplomatic experience, but even I can tell Kim is playing Trump.  Every exchange makes Kim look stronger and Trump look stupider.  “They don’t know what they don’t know” – she’s describing the Dunning Kruger effect.

There’s so much in here – I’ll just say this is the Hillary I knew, questioned under pressure, and then returned to and have stayed with.  I’m very glad to see her!

I had to go through the link to see Lawrence, and probably had to watch more than you intended (though Lawrence is always worth watching).  (Sigh.  I never did find it.  Oh well.)

  4. The was a great interview with Clinton.  Composed, thoughtful, and direct.

As to her new book, there are reported to be a lot of negative reviews of the book, most of which showed up the day it was released apparently.  Can you say “fake reviews” and bots!

Unfortunately, like JD, I could not view the interview by Lawrence O’Donnell here and did not find it on MSNBC.

  5. I couldn’t get Lawrence O’Donnell’s video to work here or at his site on MSNBC, but that doesn’t take away from the excellent interview Rachel Maddow did with Hillary Clinton. Not the usual crying over spilled milk, but good questions and even better answers to the current times and those ahead under this administration.

Clinton would have been the better president, that much was clear then and that much she made clear again in this interview. Perhaps not the best, but certainly much better than Drumpf. I know, I know, anyone would have made a better president…but seriously, Clinton would have surrounded herself with much better advisors and a much better administration, and although not a progressive at heart, she wouldn’t have let the country slip that far from where Obama had taken it.

But that’s all water under the bridge now, Clinton is not running for a third time (and I really hope she isn’t) and America now has to come to terms with Drumpf and find a way to get rid of him, his ilk and the party that he represents whenever it suits him or remembers belonging to when he gets up in the early morning to tweet. Disposing of all of them is not a battle Hillary needs to fight, in fact it would be harmful if she did get caught up in it.

  6. Thanks and hugs.  24

Neither are working here today, but both are at MSNBC.

    • The first one played in full for me yesterday and seems to do so today.  the second one, not so much, and when I go to MSNBC Last Word page, I can find the link, but it either doesn’t play at all, or jumps to the Schumer-Pelosi debrief.   I refreshed the page several times.  (I will say the origami squirrels in the ad are whimsical.)
