Rachel on Bannon

Yesterday we learned that Steve Bannon, Trumps touchstone on all things Nazi, got the boot, apparently because he wanted more attention than his Fuhrer could stomach sharing.  I’ve been trying to learn more about the situation and what to expect from now on, where both Bannon and Trump are concerned.  I learned more from three segments on the Rachel Maddow Show, than from all other sources combined.  Here they are.

Bannon uniquely odd among Trump’s many weird staff choices

Rachel Maddow reviews some of Donald Trump’s weird staff picks, many of whom, it turns out, are united by a connection to Russia, but Steve Bannon, though also a weird choice, has a different explanation for how he got there.

Billionaire behind Trump, Bannon, Breitbart plans next move

Jane Mayer, staff writer for The New Yorker, talks with Rachel Maddow about the role of Robert Mercer in funding Donald Trump and Breitbart, and what he might do next with Steve Bannon out of the white House.

Bannon leaves Trump, takes important constituency with him

Michael Beschloss, NBC News presidential historian, talks with Rachel Maddow about Steve Bannon’s unusual role in the Trump White House, from his job title to "nationalist" constituency he commands that could seriously sap Trump’s base.

In short, Trump is still Trump, and none of his hate, greed, and sociopathic behavior will change one iota.  Bannon is still a Nazi with plans to deconstruct America in every way he can, and with virtually unlimited funding from Mercer, he may have even more influence, especially with the TEAbaggers.  We are no better off than before.

  1. Rachel – I see she had the same reaction that I did to everything that happaned yesterday!!!  LOL!  But seriously, we all know about and cite the Koch Brothers, but they are not the only crazy billionaires trying to kill us, and Robert Mercer is right up there, maybe even higher than the Kochs, Sheldon Adelson, and the Bradley Foundation.  And his name has even been mentioned in the media.  Mentioned.  That’s all.

So – Jane sounds like blood running in the streets is actually coming.  No, we are no better off.  Probably.  Well, we’ll see. It won’t be pretty.  But then, it hasn’t been pretty since last November.

  2. Bannon is one scary person, but so is this administration. What a debacle.

  3. We all though that with the administration staffed as it was things couldn’t get more chaotic and dysfunctional. And boy were we wrong! According to Jane Mayer “things will get less coherent from here on out.” Less coherent? She’s got to be kidding.

How bad is it going to be exactly? Are we going to see a War of the Barons where America is torn apart by all the fractions fighting for their particular billionaire? Because I don’t believe for a second that the Kochs, Adelsons, Murdochs and Mercers are all fighting for the same right-wing “ideals” in unity, and will soon be at each others throats in their hunger for power. Drumpf is just a stooge for these guys. Bannon has done his bit of influencing on behalf of Mercer, all the others on Drumpf’s team have done their bit for Putin. Who’s next, the Wall Street mercenaries for…?

Add to that the information of Rachel’s video clip: “Staff changes on Mueller’s Trump Team Russia investigation raises question”, and the chaos is complete. Nothing really changes, it only gets worse. Anyone interested in a Cymbalta, Pristiq or Prozac? Or better still, some shares in the manufacturers of these popular antidepressants? You’re bound to make some money on them soon.

  4. It seems with or without Bannon, it is a SNAFU and most of that comes from Drumpf.

  5. Thanks all! 19
