I’m waiting for Store to Door to deliver my groceries, and Wendy comes this evening to de-stink the TomCat.  Please pardon my pain induced brevity.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:11 (average 5:49).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): It Sure Looks Like a Russian Cover-Up | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

The cover-up could not be more obvious. RESIST!!

From NY Times: A judge in San Francisco on Tuesday temporarily blocked President Trump’s efforts to starve localities of federal funds when they limit their cooperation with immigration enforcement, a stinging rejection of his threats to make so-called sanctuary cities fall in line.

The judge, William H. Orrick of United States District Court, wrote that the president had overstepped his powers with his January executive order on immigration by tying billions of dollars in federal funding to immigration enforcement. Judge Orrick said only Congress could place such conditions on spending.

The ruling, which applies nationwide, was another judicial setback for the Trump administration, which has now seen three immigration orders stopped by federal courts in its first 100 days. And as with the rulings halting his two temporary bans on travel from several predominantly Muslim countries, the president’s own words were used against him.

That’s good news for Portland, one of America’s first sanctuary cities.

From Alternet: What is "dictator style"? For Donald Trump, it’s celebrating winning on a private jet while eating a Big Mac. He’s a "man of the people" with bad hair, oversized suits and a notorious trucker hat.

On the other hand, according to Peter York, author of Dictator Style: Lifestyles of the World’s Most Colorful Despots, "Trump’s design aesthetic is fascinatingly out of line with America’s past and present."

Barf Bag Alert!!

I can’t tell the difference. Can you? RESIST!!

  1. 4:51  Don't pull another muscle (or the same one again) catching them.

Right now gun control is not near the top of my list of worries, but States United to Prevent Gun Violence has come up with something so creative I wanted to share it.  It's a game, called "Carrier or Killer," in which you get 3 seconds to decide whether the person you are looking at is out to kill, or just a harmless Second Amendment advocate (well, if there is such a thing).

William Rivers Pitt quotes the nurse of his primary care physician:  "You would not believe how much of this we've seen since November. People are anxious, scared, not eating, eating way too much, drinking too much, the works. More than anything, not sleeping like you. Trump has become a legitimate Medical Issue in this office."

Keith #63 – Yes indeedy.  It is true that it is not the crime but the cover-up that will get you.  The most unlikely argument ever for "Honesty is the best policy," but valid nonetheless.  Keith is absolutely right that the Dems should run on the issue of a coverup.  And maybe that should start NOW…

NYT – Oh, so not even a States' Rights issue, but a Congressional Rights issue.  Interesting.  Good going, Judge Orrick.

AlterNet – Already barfed over this once today, not going there again.  It's a good thing that "class" is not one of his "all the best words" that he uses all the time.  I would have to break out "You keep using that word" if it were.

Cartoon – Hard to imagine them being that "big-hearted."

  2. KO: "Active cover-up being undertaken by the Trump Administration." Yeah, it's a cover-up!! How big does the hot air balloon have to get before it blows up??

NYT: Kudos to Judge Orrick for this, great news!!

AN: YEP, a BBA for sure!
Here's another one: "Please Enjoy This Video Of Donald Trump Playing The Accordion"
    http://www.chicksontheright.com/please-enjoy-video-donald-trump-playing-accordion/

Hope that you start getting better, and pain free. Hope you have a good evening, take care, and
    Thanks, Tom.

  3. Keith: Spot on!  It would be bigly ironic if the Orange Clown got taken down as the result of his biggest manipulation!!

NY T: Three rebuffs from the courts in the first 100 days?  Now, where does that go on his frigging resumé?

Alternet: "A man who is empty on the inside, must decorate himself on the outside.”  Bruce Lee  There he is the Empty Orange!!  There he is, having the entire senate bussed to the W.H. for a "talk" on N. Korea; There is no stone to be left unturned when he NEEDS to be in the spotlight!  How much did that cost the taxpayers?

Otherwise: Apparently retired mine workers are in danger of loosing their health benefits…"Man of the people!"

  4. Puzzle — 4:01  JD, I have prevented the pulling of more muscles by Puddy Tat, at least for today!  He's not getting any fishies today!

YouTube — To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Drumpf doth protest too much, me thinks."  This is to me, a clear sign that Drumpf was and continues to coverup his and the campaign's association with the Russians.  Drumpf's attempts to coverup are even more obvious than those of Tricky Dickie during Watergate.  Kudos to Keith for laying it all out so well.  Even a Republican could follow it.

NY Times — Drumpf is sure to get his knickers in a twist on this one at least for a little while.  I guess the next question is "Will the Congress follow up and add Drumpf's proposal into the budget etc?"  It would not surprise me if they tried but Republicans should be worried about 2018 because these funds assist city operations which affects everyone, Republicans, Democrats and independents.

Alternet — Drumpf is really rich (according to him) and I am really nauseated by Drumpf's crassness and dictator style.  Drumpf belongs with that group of despots.

Cartoon —  . . . and it is still a wasteland!  If Drumpf tries to duke it out with Kim Jong-un and others using nuclear weapons, the earth will be in a nuclear winter from it likely will not emerge.

  5. How nice of you to have Wendy to help you de-stink yourself to help celebrate King's day over here, TomCat. Our king may not be aware of it, but it'll be no waste of time as I'm sure it'll make you sleep even better.

Keith Olbermann: Looks like a cover up, smells like a cover up, probably tastes like a cover up too…why, what could it possibly be?

NYT: When stopping the Muslim ban (twice) and now the federal de-funding of sanctuary cities, Drump's own words were used against him and the judges vented their opinion that what Drumpf tried to do by executive order was unconstitutional. How about that for a record in the first 100 days of an American president!

    Alternet: Tasteless, all of it.

Cartoon: A red hot reminder for thousands of years to come.

Book – Chernobyl LegacyPaul Fusco. "Chernobyl Legacy" is a deeply powerful and moving book that portrays the terrible consequences of the greatest technological disaster of the twentieth century – the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Haunting B & W Photos:

"The lies that killed people at Three Mile Island 36 years ago on March 28, 1979 are still being told at Chernobyl, Fukushima, Diablo Canyon, Davis-Besse … and at TMI itself."
"As the first major reactor accident that was made known to the public is sadly commemorated, and as the global nuclear industry collapses, let’s count just 36 tip-of-the iceberg ways the nuclear industry’s radioactive legacy continues to fester:"

Facts: 36 Years of Three Mile Island’s Lethal Lies … and Still Counting [with other nuclear disasters]. http://ecowatch.com/2015/03/27/three-mile-island-36-anniversary/

These are some of the reasons why nuclear power plants must not be built in US. No more nuclear power plants! Don't forget about the problem of storing spent fuel rods and leaking containers.

Support renewable power sources such as wind power, solar panels, other renewable sources.
