I slept poorly last night.  In what continues to be the weirdest winter I can remember, the temperature at midnight was 57°, prompting the homeless in the neighborhood to throw a party on the street below.  The noise level did not abate until it was almost time to get up, and although I did sleep, I was awakened frequently.  I discovered that our new analytics package was set by default that only Administrators could see the dashboard  I fixed it to include Editors.  Tweak away, Lona.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:39 (average 5:43).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?  A kitty has to be damn careful around that place.  I could get peed on by a dawg!! Surprised smile

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Infuriated after Senator Elizabeth Warren read a scathing letter from 1986 about Jeff Sessions by Coretta Scott King, Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday to secure an endorsement for Sessions from Frederick Douglass.

“I know Frederick Douglass will write a great letter, much better than that bad letter Coretta Scott King wrote,” Trump said. “I said really nice things about Frederick Douglass last week, so I’m sure he will do this for me.”

Visibly angered by the King letter, Trump contrasted the “great job Douglass has done” with the “terrible, very bad job that Coretta Scott King has done.”

“I don’t know who this Coretta King person is, but she should stay away from writing letters because she has zero talent for it,” Trump said.

At the daily White House press briefing, Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, said that, while Trump is confident that Sessions will be confirmed as Attorney General, “a strong endorsement from Frederick Douglass will clearly seal the deal.”

Andy, If Douglas endorsed Beauregard, color me scared stiff and gone! RESIST!!

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Life in Trump’s America Just Got Worse for Your Pet | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

If torturing and poisoning animals increases profit, Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten supports it. RESIST!!

From Think Progress: National Security Adviser Michael Flynn discussed sanctions with the Russian Ambassador to the United States around a month before President Donald Trump took office, the Washington Post reported Thursday night.

Flynn allegedly told Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that any sanctions put in place under the Obama administration could be reversed. The allegations could put Flynn in hot water, as officials say they were inappropriate at best and possibly even illegal. The situation gets worse for Flynn, as he said on Wednesday he hadn’t discussed sanctions with Kislyak. He backtracked on Thursday.

“While he had no recollection of discussing sanctions, he couldn’t be certain that the topic never came up,” Flynn’s spokesman told the Washington Post… [emphasis added]

The traitor had no recollection, huh? Remember this?  RESIST!!

  1. 4:14  Bright and cheery.  But not edible.

TNY – Fred Douglass might endorse Beauregard for "person most likely to be tarred and feathered in a just world."  But not for Attorney General.  Don't panic yet.

YT/GQ – I am not even going to try to find an American example.  But here's a French dog who has spent her entire life as a breeder – Lucie.  (They have raised all the money  they were looking for to help her, thank God, but there are pleanty of others  at the site who can be helped by free clicks – including a donkey with eye cancer.)

TP – That's called "political amnesia."  It's endemic among Republicans.

    Cartoon – Yup.

  2. Oh, Lordy! ANDY, you had me goin for a minute there!

  3. NYer: Gawd. What an ID. and Sessions was nominated, ugh!!

KO: Long live our Animals!!!! This is messed up…..seriously. I have no words to say except bad ones.

TP: Liar, Liar, Pants on fire. But, I'm putting myself out on a limb here……I don't recall saying any of that.

Cartoon: Indeed. How very, very sad.

All of my dogs/cats have been rescues, from living in the Navy barracks years ago, and rescuing a kitten, she lived to a ripe old age of 18. After my 16 y.o. Corgi passed away this past summer, I went to the rescue and got a little Shih Tzu, who resides with my Russian Blue here. That's not to say that I've been a proud owner of an iguana, snakes, tarantula, birds, fish, possums, and a ferret along the way. I couldn't imagine my life without animals. I do hope that you get some much needed rest, and also…enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Puzzle — 3:57  That is one bright red fire plug.  At least cat's can sit on top of it out of the line of dawg fire!

The New Yorker — Drumpfenfarten invoking Douglass?  That is rich.  Further proof that the Drumpfenfarten administration is sorely ignorant on all things having to do with the running of government and American history.  Andy, I think you are straight reporting again!

    Resist!!!

YouTube — Further proof that Drumpfenfarten and his lackies are a cancer that must be excised.

    Resist!!!

Think Progress — This reminds me of the movie "Clear and Present Danger", in which the main character is schooled in how to answer congressional questions —- "I have no recollection of that, Senator."  This administration knows only how to lie and deceive, lead by the Liar-in-Chief, Drumpfenfarten.  As Sir Walter Scott wrote, "O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive."

    Resist!!!

Cartoon — Ain't that the truth!

    Resist!!!

I too had trouble sleeping last night — awakened by rain and wind.  Hopefully both of us will be rewarded with a good night's sleep tonight.  I spent time today writing my mother's obituary and working on her memorial service.  Tomorrow morning is 1 week since her death.  And time keeps marching forward.

  5. It must be the weirdest winter/summer this year anyone can remember, TomCat, and the way things are going we ain't seen nothing yet. Sorry about the bother that kept you awake, but I can imagine that the homeless don't mind very much that the earth is warming up a bit. I wouldn't mind either if I had to sleep in the streets in the middle of freezing winter.

TNY: Unlike a physical checkup, people in high places should be forced to make a reality check every week. For Drumpf make that a dally routine.

Keith Olbermann: 'There is no evidence that Trump ever loved an animal', and it's hard not to think that there is no evidence that Drumpf ever loved (no, not lusted after) a human being except himself either. All Drumpf loves is money, and all his cronies love is money too; so anything of standing in the way of them making more money has got to go. Anything that stands in the way of money must be destroyed with the broadest sweep, damn the consequences. It's so much easier to take all data down and  to eradicate all reports, isn't it. Only animals will suffer, so what's the big deal. Until human life is at risk again when any agricultural industry can do whatever it likes to make a fast buck, right?
I wonder how fast this will be picked up by groups like ASPCA, PETA, or Care2 and how Drumpf voters among their members feel about this?

TP: Just in office and the heat is already is on for Flynn and causes him now to have amnesia about things he was quite sure not having done only last Wednesday. He'll probably get away with it, they all do, but it begs the question why this didn't come up at his hearing.

  6. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

  7. Consider this TC.America just elected a NAZI !! Steve Bannon.Trump is a mere  Stool Pigeon, and too stupid to figure it out.
