I don’t know about you, but I’m sufficiently burned out, that I felt an entertainment break is in order, so I’m serving-up all Andy Short Takes and a lead article that buzzes.  Enjoy!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:25 *average 4:23).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

I’m amazed that I won with most of my starters injured or bye, but Rob, Vivian, and Robb are way out in front.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: As the crisis at the top of their ticket deepened on Sunday, there were increasing calls from Republican officials to replace a man who hates women with a man who hates both women and gays.

“We currently have a Presidential nominee who is consumed by his hatred of women,” Harland Dorrinson, a longtime G.O.P. official, said. “It is time for him to step aside in favor of a man who has demonstrated a more even-handed loathing of both women and gays.”

The Republican official argued that a “stellar performance” in last week’s Vice-Presidential was another reason to elevate the man to the top of the ticket. “For ninety minutes, he made no reference whatsoever to female genitalia,” he said. “That showed he has what it takes to be President.”

Andy, as I have long said, Trump is merely a symptom of the cancer that must be excised to save the US: the Republican Party.

From The New Yorker: Fearing that millions of foreign tourists might cancel their plans to travel to the United States, President Obama used his emergency powers to interrupt the broadcast of the second Presidential debate.

“Good evening, friends around the world,” Obama began, in a reassuring tone. “For the past hour, many of you have been observing something that can only be described as nightmarish. I want to state in no uncertain terms: if you come to the United States, you will never, ever meet another man this horrible.”

“I can understand that many of you might greet my words with skepticism,” he said. “Well, you just have to believe me on this: I have met many, many, Americans and this is the worst guy I have ever encountered.”

Andy, should Obama really deceive the world like that? Bubba Bagger is as bad as Rump Dump, as is every Republican who votes for him.

From The New Yorker: Calling the Republican nominee’s behavior “completely indefensible,” the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, cancelled a joint campaign appearance with Donald Trump on Monday.

Putin, who had been scheduled to campaign alongside Trump at a rally in Columbus, Ohio, said that he would make no joint appearances with the billionaire for the remainder of the campaign.

“As the father of two daughters, I cannot condone or defend Mr. Trump’s behavior,” the Russian leader said in a curt official statement.

In addition to cancelling his appearance with Trump, Putin, who had been expected to spend thirty-one million rubles, or roughly five million dollars, on Trump campaign ads, is pulling those funds and will instead “focus on down-ballot races,” the statement said.

Andy, I don’t believe it. Putin (R-RU) has done so much for the Trump campaign already. I can’t see Putin abandoning his pet pup yet. I think he’ll just try to teach Trump to stop crapping on the rug.

  1. 4:58 (4:23)  I try to move slowly around large animals.

Incidentally, if you signed Barack and Michelle's anniversary card, you might want to sign Bill and Hillary's also.  It's today.  http://go.traindemocrats.org/page/s/clinton-anniversary-card

AndyI – This makes me think of Sam.  I am glad you are featuring her in the lead, and assume (and hope) the clip includes the complete vagina monologue.

AndyII – Yeah, Obama should indeed say something like this, though he might qualify it with "outside jail, prison, or a crime scene."

AndyIII – Yeah.  See this: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/10/10/1580704/-EICHENWALD-Trump-recited-false-information-at-a-rally-in-from-a-Russian-disinformation-Op  It's called "Guilty knowledge."

    Cartoon – 1000 words indeed.

  2. #1:  At the debate: "He made no reference whatsoever to female genitalia,” however; he stalked and made his snarling faces while Hillary talked. And what's with his snorting, sniffing?? Did he get a bad batch?, OR even better, he's nervous (frustrated) with Clinton being more knowledgeable, focused, & balanced, and found that he's NOT presidential material, as he blusters about?

#2. Always the gentleman, and scholar. What a President!!

    #3. Scary, Andy.

Cartoon: So very sad. Stripping the earth, and laying her bare like that. What a crime!!

Take today to relax. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*Thanks, Joanne for the link. I did sign the card.

  3. The New Yorker

#!  Is it not a requirement to be prejudiced against gays and women to be a Republican?  Women Repuglicans are just surrogates for their men?

#2  Obama is so well thought of around the world that he might be able to pull this off.

#3   Putin will never abandon his lap dog.

Cartoon:  I Sarah Palin's words:  I can see this from my front porch.  The strip mining that has been done here and the surrounding area has destroyed our water supplies, our air quality, and the beauty of the place I call home.

  4. Puzzle — 2:54  Sorry cow but I couldn't get there fast enough to stop that rapacious Puddy Tat!  Don't eat that meat at one meal!

New Yorker — "“What this party needs right now is healing,” he [Harland Dorrinson] said." — Sorry Andy, but I disagree.  What the GOP needs is a coffin!

New Yorker — The best way to stop this horrible man is to put Clinton in the White House.

New Yorker — Putin and his pup should be on a leash and muzzled.

Cartoon — Ain't that the truth!

  5. You're a mind-reader, TomCat. I was extremely fed up with nasty politics and in dire need of some entertainment. And what better way to be entertained by Andy and our buzzy bee. Thanks. And from your puzzle time I think I can conclude that you've adjusted to the prism just fine 😀

TNY 1: Spot on Andy. It's all about  Drumpf's hatred of women now, so the Republicans can ignore Drumpf's so very Republican hatred of LGBTs, African-Americans, Hispanics, Muslims, the left, the poor…And Mike Pence is nothing but the cleaned-up embodiment of all that.

TNY 2: I'm with you on this one , TomCat. Drumpf is just the tip of a whole iceberg of horrible people potential visitors from abroad will want to stay away from. And stay away they will, they've had enough of America for a while because of the ridiculous amount of coverage this election gets in their own countries, though The best appreciated "coverage" was on our Dutch TV last night

TNY 3: Putin, the Kochs, Adelston…I think everyone has thrown in the towel by now and are focusing on the down-ballot races, with the possible exception of Murdoch and his Faux News. Some must be still supporting him, because Drumpf won't quit, but doesn't seem to have to spend much of his own money. Makes me wonder who will give out first, Drumpf or Murdoch.

Cartoon: I thought this was a cartoon of the American political landscape, October 2016.

  6. No such thing as  clean coal…. no good fracking … along with Republicans that's three things we could do without.

Andy is surely on a roll – if nothing else, the GOP provide a ton of material for him.  The more I see and hear of Pence, the more I dislike him as much if not more than even Trump.

  7. Thanks and Amen to all!

  8. What Lynn,  Lona  and Arielle said!!   Yeh, clean coal, in the same place you'll find "the Hoax," up his ass!
